I was thinking the same except that I wish they’d recorded Tom and the girls playing. It sounds like it was a really good time 😂

I like that Tom lets them argue because it gives you a good idea of exactly what happens when you play the game 🤣

Love this game - we have laughed so much. One Christmas I pulled the extending table apart and found a cheating moth card on top of the extension inside 😂

We played this at a boardgame bar a few months ago, and it was one of the most fun games I have ever played. We were having so much fun that other tables were coming up to us asking if they can play the game next. I bought it off of Amazon before we left the bar.

Hey - how about for a future DT Kickstarter goal, have a live play of a bunch of magicians actually playing this game?
@olanmills642 жыл бұрын
Haha that would be great... or maybe it wouldn't work at all because they'd be too good at catching everything each other does!

The end of the overview @3:40 really confused me. Should've been "whoever has the fewest points is the winner", not "whoever has the most points". I was wondering how you were supposed to remember all the cards you'd gotten rid of 😆

he missed said it is actually minus points not + points

A game about moths? Is there a Norm Macdonald card?

I'm a pretty good card magician, I would probably feel like I'm cheating even beyond the sanctioned cheating. Still want to try this though

This game never gets old for me. It's always full of huge laughs as we come up with more creative ways to try to cheat. The successor to this game, Schummel Hummel (Cheating Bumblebee), is even better and completely replaces this one for me because of all the added distractions between neighbors and the extra shenanigans the guard bug can try. So much is going on at all times, and everyone is constantly having to pay attention to their neighbors. I just keep Cheating Moth as a beginner game, with Schummel Hummel being the end goal.

I brought this game, along with some others, to the Dice Tower game exchange in 2021. It would NOT be my type of game, but I think it would be a lot of fun. I'm glad to see someone had picked it up off the table during the exchange, so I'm happy it went to a nice forever home.

I actually had Cheating moth in my collection for a while but it rarely got played, I though it was better known as is part of some kind of line with Cockroach poker and similar games. There's a sequel to Cheating moth, Schummel Hummel (or El Abejorro tramposo in spanish) with new mechanics, a little more "gamery".

Can we watch Bryan clown the rest of you at this game for the next Spectacular?
@NATOnova2 жыл бұрын
how does this compare to Schummel Hummel?
@adamxpaul2 жыл бұрын
It is simpler. The biggest difference is that Shummel Hummel adds a card between you and each of your neighbors. At the end of a turn, if you steal one of these without that neighbor catching you, you get to give them a card (if I remember right). Cheating Moth doesn't have this, which makes it a lot less frantic. The guard bug also has a special ability in Shummel Hummel to reverse the rules (instead of numbers, you're matching colors, but if he sneakily flips the rule card, you have to NOT match color). This gives the guard bug some more fun things to do instead of just watching for others to cheat. Cheating Moth is definitely the game to play first, but Shummel Hummel is my group's preferred game ever since we moved on.

This game is fantastic. Everyone always starts off playing cautiously but then it quickly devolves into chaotic bouts of blatant cheating! It's always hilarious.

Love this game, it doesn't always work , like cochraoch poker.. but it's too much fun! The game needs to be easy to allow the cheating.

Played this game once, I think with the prefect group in a good setting, still despised the game. My recommendation is: play before you buy. Really loved the review though perfectly explains the game and the fun that could be in there for some!
