I had a girlfriend who had a friend like Tish. She was toxic to our relationship and I did the same thing as our hero. Gave her a choice, me or her. She chose her and from what I found later she really regretted it. Friends like that are nothing but users and narcissists.

Never marry someone who puts you second to their friend. It won't end well. Sad Shirley died.

Shirley's passing made this a bittersweet story, but it was still enjoyable 👍👍

I am very happy with the ending. She realized she messed up the first time, but he was able to see her love for him through the girls. It was a real tearjerker when he read Shirleys letter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The author is witty, sarcastic, endearing-knows the crazy nuances of personality and love. Love the ending wedding happenings: raised shovels, refurbished & customized vehicle, and “sure I’ll meet for lunch; 2026 sounds good…”. Still smiling, and thank you.

People always see themselves in stories like this, and it's interesting to read what they get out of it. Sometimes entertaining, sometimes sad.

A nice second chance story, the first wife was a gem.

This story is truly beautiful and I was moved. This man was exceptional. He had the ability to know how to love and the fortune of being loved by all the women who surrounded him, by his large adoptive family. He had a first wife who was exceptional and a second wife who fortunately realized the mistake she made and agreed to pay the consequences. She freed herself from a toxic friendship and then redeemed herself by marrying him and accepting the role of mother for the daughters he had with his first wife

I remember 35 years ago when me wife died. It's devastating.

georgegarvey7338 That damned letter almost killed me! Like you, I am a widower, having lost the love of my life nearly 25 years ago. All of these people keep telling me that it has been far too long and I need to move on but I can't. A part of me died that day and her loss still hurts, even now. I know these people mean well, and I'm pretty sure you've heard all of the same old cliques, too, but they just don't understand that a love as deep as what I had with my wife is not something that allows me to just pick up and go on. Every woman I see I instantly compare to my precious wife and I just can't. I hope you are coping better than I have done.

@@richardcline1337 They just don't understand losing the love of your life. It's been almost 35 years & it still hurts. I feel what you feel. I understand what you understand. I'm sorry for your pain. You don't have to love another woman the same way you did your wife. You can love another woman differently like is have. I've been blessed for about 30 years now.

The reconciliation with Dee was WAY too quick, a few conversations between the MC and her would have made more sense. His dead wife saying that she was fine with having half of him left me uneasy. Other then that, good story.

When did she say that she was fine with having half of him? I think the letter was more about him moving on and finding a new woman.

The story, while attempting to weave a complex narrative of relationships and personal growth, suffers from a muddled structure and excessive reliance on clichés, making it challenging to engage with the intended emotional depth.

Chances are that is not the last of Tish in Roger's life. A few days ago I had planned to have lunch with a Naval Officer I know. While he did not stand me up he was late. I was OK with that because I had a nice conversation with a couple sitting close by. I later learned this man was late because he had spent that morning with his ex-wife. A woman who had broken his heart many times AND gave him a rather nasty infection. More than once he had called me upset because of her. There is a photo of him next to Proverbs 26:11 in the Bible. Yes, there are exceptions, but in almost every situation like this that toxic person has a hold over them that is so strong some liken it to a narcotic. Trust me, Rodger is NOT finished with Tish!
@eleethtahgra78024 ай бұрын
Nah. D is done with tish. She open the speaker phone. Then promise to meet in 20 years. Tish would come back and D would repel her again. Basically, she said No to trish.

@@dannysilva3210 I have seen some crazy stuff happen when toxic people from the past reappear. My GF is a Family Law Attorney who handled what turned out to be such a messy divorce I took time off from my work just to be in the courthouse to watch over her. What basically happened was a man who had been dropped several times by his first love got married and lived with his now ex-wife for several years. They had two kids. The toxic ex came back to Farmville Virginia and within a month the guy left the wife. I heard a rumor (not confirmed yet) that after the divorce the ex-GF dumped him again and ran off with some guy she met. This is not universal, but it happens more than I like. The draw of first love is so potent it is like a narcotic. Both men and women are vulnerable to it.

@@dannysilva3210 It's a pattern with victims of abuse - not sure if that applies to this situation

Why people had the right to manipulated everyone?? To many narcissistic in mature people.
@eleethtahgra78024 ай бұрын
Why is it wrong? After all, no one force the victim to do anything. And yes, manipulator are evil, I m just making devil advocate argument cos there are folks who never consider AP to be at fault.

I really liked this story, but the getting back together and married to the first fiance happened Waaaay too fast, and I doubt anyone would just go up to the person they hadn't seen or talked to in years and first thing ask her to marry him. Not believable outside of those weirdos who constantly monkey branch from one person to the next because they want to be financially supported or can't stand to be single.

Please do not use idioms in the story, use grammatically correct sentences with correct syntax. Native English speakers understand everything, but people like me (I'm Italian) don't understand certain sentences. I'll give you an example to make you understand my point of view: 11.05 "Over the water"... I had to listen to it twice to understand that it meant "Overseas" It's a simple joke but it's already difficult for me to understand it. Thank you
