I have a question concerning the poles. if phik = (2k-1)pi/2N then when k = 2 we should have phi2 = (2*2-1)pi/2*6 = pi/2. Then with the pole the imaginary part should be equal to zero right ? I have like -0,6267 and no imaginary numbers. Could you help me ?

Thanks for the video. I have watched this video over 10 times already. I put your equations in excel and I believe I understand how it works. I put it into "TINA" (simulation software from Texas instrument), the gain is 5db with a ripple noise less than 0.55db. The cut-off frequency is about 2500 rad/sec. And the stopband frequency is about 12500 rad/sec after 30db attenuation. Thanks a lot! Do you have an example of a higher-order filter? Let say 5th order.

how to design this chevyshev filter Synthesize a chebyshev low-pass filter to meet the following specification: 1) load resistance = 600 ohm, 2) 0.5 dB ripple with pass band, 3) cut-off frequency=5x105rad/sec, 4) At 1.5x106 rad/sec, the magnitude must be down 30 dB.

at 5:47 the question it says the stopband frequency of the filter is 12500rad/sec with stop band attenuation of 30db or more. why didnt we consider those facts in the calculation.???

@ALL ABOUT ELECTRONICS When attempting to calculate the order required for a high pass filter should I take the passband and attenuation as the upper frequency as I would for a lowpass filter and the use the s^-1 substitution you demonstrated? Using the equation for calculating the required order with the lower frequency as the pass band seems impossible as arc-cosh must be a value greater than one or am I mistaken. Thanks a lot for your very informative video none the less.

In the denominator, there are three terms. (S - P1) (S- P2)(S- P3). Just multiply the first two terms and the put the value of P1, P2 and P3, you will get it.

P1=-a+jb P2=-a-jb So the equation will be S^2+(P1+P2)S+P1*P2 here P1+P2 =-2a And P1*P2 =a^2+b^2.

Application note of Texas instrument is good. And one chapter (Active filters) of the book "Electronics principles by Albert Malvino " is also good in general for analog filters.

look at his previous videos about butterworth....there he found out the expression for Q..... and here he takes a unity gain Sallen Key which has a k=1, so putting k=1 at that Q expression he arrives at this expression

Dear friend, I hope you can help me with a problem. I'm designing a second-order Chebyshev filter: Ap = 3dB (ripple), N = 2, ε = 0.997628 , Gain = 1dB and TF is: H(s) = Ho / (s^2 + 0.6449s + 0.7079) as N=2 then H(s=0) = 1 / √ (1+ε^2) then Ho = 0.5012. The TF of Low Pass Filter is LPF(s) = w^2 / (s^2 + w*s/Q + w^2), if I compare H(s) and LPF(s), then Ho ≠ w^2 because Ho = 0.5012 and w^2 = 0.7079. Will I be doing some wrong calculation?
