Hey Zachary I just want to thank you so much for your videos. I used to be a industrial carpenter foreman and ceiling maestro walking stilts all day framing and installing celing grids all day. Your videos insprired me to run my own business. All those years not taking any shortscuts really paid off and your videos are what propelled me to start my own business. You are truly a blessing and you are changing lives man. Thank you so much for being you.

good to see you back on the tube. I started my own company part time for now after seeing your setup. Almost identical (not planned) but I have a cubcadet cc800 33in instead of the xmark. Was a bit cheaper than the toro/exmark and cut my time on a yard down by like 40% easily.

I'm doing this part time while I work my full time job. I would like to eventually quit my full time job and open up a lawn care business. I asked a few people who currently do lawn care and they say it's "impossible" to pay yourself $2k a week after expenses while working alone. I dunno, I see your videos where you make $500-600 a day and I think it's possible as long as you're willing to work your ass off all week. Five days at $550 a day is $2750 a week, minus $500 for gas and maintenance and you're at $2250 gross for the week. Maybe the other guys I spoke to have a ton of overhead costs or they don't have enough customers, don't want to hustle. Also, many people buy shit they don't need, multiple super expensive sit down mowers, $80k brand new F-250's, don't know how to advertise effectively... That's why they can't pay themselves.

Good points here. I think my main takeaway from this channel is that mowing is the most cost and time effective. Many companies start doing general landscaping instead of just mowing and end up doing more work longer for less money and more overhead.

Can you mow all year in Texas?. I m from PA,and my season is mid April to late be October .
@Whomadegod
@Whomadegod Жыл бұрын
You can for most of the year especially spring. It definitely slows down in the summer because of the heat. But the fall brings cooler temps and rain so the grass grows again. In the winter you can offer rye grass seeding and then mow that.

I live in Aus, its pretty important here to be sun-smart. I've always just worn long sleeves and pants instead because re-applying sunscreen every 2 hours is annoying. Somehow I actually get less vitamin D than my family members who work indoors.

@DylanDickson2
@DylanDickson2 11 ай бұрын
@@vukaius5294 Yes we blow them back onto the lawns. I live in Melbourne, it's very common for people to watch the grass clippings rather than mulch them like in the video. This leads to less clippings being left on the ground, blowing them back onto the lawn is fine. If you don't have a catcher mower it's okay, use anything to get started.

I started a business in Canada and unfortunately it didn’t pick up here like I thought it would. I had more hedge trimming jobs. I went door to door with hangers and advertised on google, Facebook, you name it. Had very little business. I was even insured and legal. I offered lowest prices around and still struggled to keep up with the bigger landscape company’s. I guess you could say Canada is difficult especially with our weak economy. Better luck next time, Cheers

Zack I got a question, I know you try and up sale fertilizer and grass seed but would it be a good idea to offer a bag for free every fall? To help the growth come back to help keep the grass growing for each mow? Some of my customers are trying to do every 3 weeks for a mow because after our summer here in houston texas the grass is nearly dead or or not growing and now fall is here, I started every two weeks with them but the grass is not growing much since the drought so they needed every three weeks, they don’t want to pay extra for seed so they think it should be better next spring, just feel sorry for them.

Is it better to do biweekly cuts rather weekly in a business standpoint?
@Makemoneymowing
@Makemoneymowing 8 ай бұрын
It just depends on the yard- if it doesn’t need to be cut weekly there’s no use in doing it weekly lol! Weekly is nice because more revenue albeit at a possibly at a lower hourly rate if all your quotes are cheaper more frequent weekly cuts. In my area- unless it’s peak spring or peak fall + the customers actually have sprinklers and wafers like they’re supposed to = good conditions for a weekly mow! But in reality most of my yards don’t have sprinkler systems so it doesn’t really grow enough for weekly cuts. In the peak peak spring time, or in the peak peak fall time when it’s the growing season and and raining more (tip: you know it’s the growing season when Lowe’s/Home Depot put out the colorful plants in the front 🌸🌻🪻), then I’ll either have requests for weekly/I’ll tell the customer we should switch to weekly for now! But other than that- I’m just always biweekly for my demographic/specific style of yards. In Florida- I think they always mow weekly a lot more than TX sometimes even twice a week I’ve heard 😂

Pretty much suck it up 😂 I have things hit me and the face or the shins. I just have to watch what I say 😬
@Makemoneymowing
@Makemoneymowing Жыл бұрын
Lol it happens what he said just suck it up 😂 but you can control the direction of the debris you’re whipping around by holding the trimmer at different angles if that makes sense Like the way I would trim clean grass along a house’s side vs. the way I would clean out the weedy grasses growing through the concrete near the driveway/sidewalk is super different. With the grass it’s just grass so I do it normal, but with the concrete debris, I’ll hold the trimmer to aim all the debris away from me, I’ll close my eyes, and I’ll tuck my chin in almost like I’m blocking punches in a ring lmao like the Philly shell defense 😂 Wearing a face mask/baclava completely covers your face chin and cheeks from debris, so that’s a tip if you don’t mind being sweaty face. And if a job is super ugly, I’ll break out the face mask! Just begin playing with all the angles of your trimmer, and if your Edging the lawn with the trimmer, make sure to walk backwards to go with the spinning because if you walk forward- you eat all those debris directly lol vs walking backwards they walk away from you 😁

been watching you since 2020 my dude. Got me 24 steady accounts, the most I've had at once is 42 but some are too cheap, picky or they've moved. Ive kept it low now because I also offer them side services just like power wash, window cleaning, reseeding, mulch laying, or even create new planter areas for them ands it keeps me super busy. Some projects bigger than others but take no longer than a week max. What I like about this business is you keep busy and keep moving and not feel stagnant like in a cubicle. Best part is you're your own boss! Keep grinding man. And man with all that sneezing go order you some masks for when youre blowing, there's particles that never leave your respiratory system and it's just not worth it. Cheers man
