Kenwood amp went out, was good for 6 years, I'm literally thinking about getting the jd500/1 to power my 15 inch kicker cvr. Does the amp get pretty hot?

Damn good amp. Im using it to push 2 w0v3 15's & it sounds amazing. Amp barely gets warm during extended run times.

Yea..I just wanted to ask about the no need for line out put-convertor ? So just cut the plug off the end of a r.c.a. cable &. tap into a rear speaker wire? ( I’ve actually done this with a J X 500.1 - it worked ,but had sound quality issues) And if I don’t use a line out put convertor ....and my car a 07 Honda Civic with factory h.u.... not sure if it has a factory amp or not..but the bass on factory speakers goes down as volume goes up... so question is “where” to the signal from.....speaker wires behind factory head unit? Or at the end of the run at the rear speaker wire in the trunk? I’m a fan of JL Audio and currently have a JL 500.5 in MKZ & a JX 500.1 with 10bass wedge in my Mustang GT...and plan to add the JD 500.1 with single 12 bass wedge in Honda Civic..I have never had any problems out of any of their equipment & in my opinion it sounds fantastic for the price...Any information regarding how to eliminate need for l.o.c. would be greatly appreciated..But more than likely I will end up getting it installed & mounted by a authorized JL Audio dealer so I won’t void my warranty ...

Don't get me wrong. Very nice amp. Nicest amp I've ever owned. But these definitely would've sufficed and for less money.

@@MrMegatron85 Gotcha, figured that’s what you were talking about. I almost got the RD also, but knew I couldn’t go wrong with the JD. Even entry level JL Audio beats other brand’s mid to high level offerings. The other one I was interested was the XD300

@@damon323 yeah I kept thinking I need the best of the best, when honestly any amp from JL is better than most. Haha now I just use the stock system in my new car. It's so good I can't bring myself to change anything

Hi I have purchased the JD500/1 to power a 10w3v3. I will be running it using speaker level. The issue is the output voltage from my factory speakers goes as high as 12volts at higher volumes and the JD high level input is maxed at 8v. Would this be a problem or would you recommend me getting the LOC22? Many thanks

Hey Davis. Just bought a JD400/4 and the clipping LED never lights up. Is this ok? Even at full gain? Everything wired correctly and good sound coming out from the speakers. Just wondering if it is possible to be at full gain without clipping. Car is a Fiesta ST with Sony unamplified head unit.

Then you want to switch the input signal to high. I've seen this on a lot of different tutorials.

With the new JD series I am struggling to see any differences between the JD and RD series (at least for the 500/1 mono block variants of each) other than aesthetics and an extra $100. Can you provide any input on why the RD are better from a performance standpoint or should I just save myself some money and get the JD?

The jd series 400x4 channel amp does not have a clip or protect light nor has any fuses! Not a fan any more.
