I just love ❤️ your enthusiasm over your plants and their New growth. Thanks for the wonderful tour of your garden and seeing how everything is doing. I can see the plants love that rain and humidity, just like where they're from. They are growing like crazy. Look forward to your next posting.

They do love the rain and I’m glad you enjoyed the tour. I do get very excited about new growth, I bet it’s funny for other people to see my reactions to finding the start of a new branch. A little bit of Poison Ivy meets Dr. Frankenstein 🤣. Thank you for the wonderful comments 💚🌱.

Do you remember where did you get your favourite unknown disocactus hybrid? It has soooo cute growth! I would by happy to hear that you found it in Europe but my sister is currently in USA so I could ask her to bring me this wonderful plant.

I’m sorry I don’t, it was a completely random eBay purchase from a source years ago that didn’t sell plants.

Re-watching in bits and then coming back and hitting play at random left off points. This morning at 20:15 Selenicereus wercklei (new name popped up on screen). "Look how weird it is!" said with great joy! Waiting at my mailbox hoping it arrives today :) A recent impulse addition to an impulse purchase "before it gets too cold! Happy coincidence :) Did not find a stand-alone video for this one in a quick search although I did come across "rarely blooms even in the wild" note somewhere.

Yes! Selenicereus inermis, I haven’t done a video specifically about any of the Selenicereus but I did do a Halloween special that features S. inermis: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ7Qpol6gL6Eqpo. I don’t grow the full Selenicereus genus because there are many and they are all have one thing in common, they are huge sprawling or climbing monsters 😂! S. inermis is my favorite of the genus and a favorite among all the epiphytic cacti. You won’t regret it, it is weird, beautiful, and fast growing so just a great plant to look at and enjoy. 💚🌱

All my Rhipsalis are doing great except my paradoxa and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've tried everything and I just can't seem to make it happy. Any help would be greatly appreciated I don't want this plant to die. I'm curious how you care for yours to see if there's something I'm doing wrong. Thank you! Also where do you get your plants from?
@EpiphyticCacti2 жыл бұрын
Hi Country Girl, explain in as much detail as you can about how you are growing it. Where are you growing it? What is your substrate? How established is the plant? What size is your pot? What type of pot? How often do you water? Fertilize? What is going wrong? Etc! You can also send me pictures at epiphyticcacti@gmail.com. I use a very well draining substrate, I have a video on it but it’s generally equal parts commercial potting soil, large perlite, small high quality orchid bark like orchiata. Then because I live in a very wet climate I dump in some Hydroton or geology for extra drainage. I don’t treat any of them any differently when they are outside. I don’t have to water them at all outside because it rains a lot here. Inside is a little different. R. paradoxa has thick branches which means it retains more water so I give it a bit less water than the others. I’ve heard quite a few growers note it’s easy to rot because of that. Once it’s really established like the second one in this video it’s hard to rot it. R. paradoxa appreciates bright light, not full sun but bright light. Most of them do. I don’t fertilize very often so the growth isn’t from anything other than good growing conditions. I get them from all over! eBay, Etsy, Facebook groups, commercial sellers, private sellers, trades, and imports💚🌱!

I would love to find one of your Schlumbergia Lutea Ssp Bradei but only found a similar looking Hatiora epiphylloides subsp. bradei. On Etsy for $195! Where did you get yours? Thanks

eBay! There is a gentleman who sells it grafted which is a better way to buy it. Most people don’t have a good experience growing it on it’s own roots, so getting it grafted can help with always having a source to take cuttings from to experiment. The other subspecies - S. lutea ssp. lutea you can get from Whitton Greenhouses also grafted, they list it from time to time so just keep checking. I don’t see these for sale very often in Winter, so you might have to wait for Spring to see them again.
