Check Out Steve Caballeros House!

I take the Powell Peralta crew to Cabs house and he gives us a tour. He has some cool stuff - vintage skate board collection, pinball machine, shoe collection, motorcycle, his evil knievel collection, his art and a lot other fun stuff. He talks about the history of his collections but my favorite parts are when he tells us about his own history. You have to hear some of the cool stories he tells - gooood stuff!

He invented that sh!t, Cabalaerial's and "Half-Cabs", riding backwards then spinning forwards it is not. Half-Cab to tail transfers on a spine. I remember 720! Used to play it at the bowling alley in the mid to late 80s. Now that I think of it, the character kinda skated like Cab, and if I recall, there were bees that would chase you while you skated.

He said prolly 1 of the nash ones. Yes i grew up poor and started on nash. My mom couldnt even afford to buy my brother and i a variflex to share😂 You can imagine how stoked i was to get the lime green bats and dragon street deck from Steve!!! It was almost 10 inches wide but it was 1 of the 1st street decks in 87. Steves a legend

Steve Caballero was my childhood hero when I began skating in the 80's. I used to tear pages out of Transworld and Thrasher of him and poster my wall. Thank you Cab for being so gracious when I finally got to meet you in 1999.

Aloha DN ! In 1983 & 84, I hung out with the guys who were in the "Stiffs" one of Mike Voss bands. I met Steve and would run into him at Shows. One of the nice guys back then who didn’t "act" punk, like alot of us did, he is the real thing. I took a lot of photos back then. Glad I did. Still in San Jose, still ride my boards, including the one one I bought off "Spy" the drummer for the Stiffs. Nice to see a cool cat like Steve make it. Peace

So glad I'm seeing this on KZbin. If I had been there in person I would've just sh#t and died. Really. I loved Caballero and Mountain and Alva and the one who can't be mentioned back in the day. Super cool!!! I have a 2009 pair of half cabs like new...I bought them....wore them a couple days....wore them to see my uncle in the hospital and he commented how ugly they were....and he died a few days later and I never could wear them again because I associated them with the last time I saw him. Weird, I know but that's just how it is sometimes

I was never a skater, but I bought a pair of blue Half Cabs in 1995. I drove semi trucks cross country wearing them, extremely comfortable.

What a privilege to be able to see the legends house and collection,had my first Cab board in either 87' or 88' and i was the envy of everyone near where i lived in a small valley village in South Wales as they were still pretty hard to get hold of back then,if you weren't in the skate shop the day of delivery theyd be all gone for sure.great times & memories 🤙

I grew up with this old dude who won some championship in like 1964 in California; he could still do multiple 360's in his 50's in like 2005, haha. I wish I could show him this. RIP Glenn. He would trip on Cab's old board collection; he'd remember some of those, no doubt. Also, Cab rules, and I'm so stoked skateboarding has remained cool. The kids today are so rad. In fact, I was bummed on my generation, who very often could care less about "80's pros". I was pretty much strictly street like my peers, but I would rent Animal Chin, bought Thrashin', devoured everything I could find on 80's skateboarding, and earlier, too, because it was hard to find in the days before everyone had the internet, especially before youtube.

Used to roll down my Converse all star high tops. Loved my Vans slip on's for my BMX days. Used to scissor off the tops of the SK8-Hi. Was shocked when the Caballero's came out. I think Steve used to ride Winchester skate park. He skated a half pipe at a kids house near me. Wearing my gum sole Half Cabs as I type this.

Black knight was first board I ever rode. Belonged to my buddies older brother. My first board was a rainbow rider folks bought me from Montgomery wards. Had urethane wheels ,free bearings.Got stopped by a cop bombing a hill on it at my cousin’s house in Del Mar. lost my board for a month. Good times. Must have been 74 or 75.

my first real board was a second hand skull and sword. then i had the rat bones deck . i had three caballero boards including when they came out with the XT decks. i had all his t shirts during the animal chin era. somewhere in there powell kind of faded out of my interest and i was more into the new people coming in like bob burnquist. i met him at the houston skatepark before he was pro or even heard of. by met him i mean i was over at the mini ramps and he was in the back tearing up the vert ramp.
