I honestly love the look of this fridge/freezer. At first it reminded me of a foot locker or a camera case. Years ago I had a gun locker that wasn’t much longer than that. I’m sure it was thicker but resembled it very much. Thank you

That sounds promising! If I'm reading the specs on their web site correctly, it draws a little over 12 watts on average. (293 Wh in 24 hours.) That's a lot less than I expected.

I have a portable fridge/freezer from a different company that recently came in very handy due to an electrical issue on the circuit powering my home fridge. I checked out Iceco and ordered an even larger one. It was already on sale so I couldn't use your code, but thank you for bringing this company to my attention.

That is the absolute coolest refrigerator. I have a Coleman 12 V cooler with a heat exchanger fan that only gets down to 55° and killed my battery overnight. I did some math, it says it uses .293 kWh over 24 hours . For those out there who crunch numbers to see what their battery consumption will be, it is roughly 12.2 Watts or 1 amp which is extremely low for any sort of 12 V cooler. I’ve seriously got this on my bucket list now. Appreciate all the great information you included in this video. You make a lot of great points, especially the comparison of ice and also the very common scenario of water logged food when you go home.

You know that doesn't have to be just for camping. I had a set up out in the garage for my dad where he could go smoke and watch his sports and be much more comfortable than sitting out on the porch all year round like he did prior. That looks like a really nice way to have a small fridge for beverages of your choice in a garage or man cave and it would look pretty cool like a cooler instead of a fridge but without the hassle of ice and water getting everywhere.

For sure. I see it being used in the shop and taken on road trips. So many uses on a road trip.

Very cool (no pun intended), but a week late for us. We’d decided a 12V refrigerator and our Ecoflow would be much better for an upcoming road trip for the same reasons you mentioned. We got ours a week ago. It has already saved the day, chilling a last minute banana pudding as we drove to the event. Test ran it at 34-35 degrees for almost 2 days on our Ecoflow. The plan for the road trip is run the refrigerator off the Ecoflow and recharge the battery pack as we drive. We’ll be passing through west TN and will wave as we go through.

The fact you were holding it up with one hand ...that's a big selling point. Do you have some numbers on how much power it consumes? Like how many watts it draws on a hot Tennessee day?
@dadbudgetadventures6 ай бұрын
Their website lists consumption at 0.293 Kw.h /24h. I can’t say how accurate that is though. Haven’t tested it thoroughly.
@jameskelly16806 ай бұрын
This is impressive looking. I like the metal hinges and closures... they won't break like plastic. The manufacturer claims power consumption is less than 0.3 kWh per 24 hours. If their estimate is accutate, that means a 100W solar panel, in full sun for 3 hours per day, will charge up your Jackery sufficient to run it for 24 hours. Of course, those of us who do off-grid stuff are interested in the power consumption in the real world. I'm also curious about its long term durability and your long term use of it... please post a followup video after you've had it a while. If these things hold up, they will be very popular off-grid. Intriguing...
@dadbudgetadventures6 ай бұрын
I will definitely be doing that. I plan to put into the test this summer and see if it’s as good as it seems.

I’m a long haul truck driver. I have the Iceco VL90 Pro 95 qt. In my semi. Don’t know how much energy it uses, but with a 4 battery system in the semi, I’ve easily gone 12 hours without running engine. I’ve got no solar panels, but I do have a Bluetti 800 watt generator in case I need it for emergency. I’ve tested the Bluetti out, and have run the Iceco for 10 hours. Again no solar panels. Solar panels would help the Bluetti out. Thinking of putting a folding solar panel in truck in case I need it. So far I haven’t needed it. I use half of the Iceco for fridge, and half freezer. I prepare the majority of my meals in my truck. Seldom eat out. Thought I’d share my experience with the Iceco. Hopefully it will be helpful for someone.

I have a different brand, but I'll tell you one thing, I used to spend nine days straight in the west desert of Utah, it took two coolers one for frozen food and ice and about 60 pounds of dry ice, then a cooler for fresh food, what a nightmare, made it work because I had to, now the 59 quart fridge freezer does all that and weighs way less and holds plenty of food, just run it off solar and a jackery

Exactly. This thing is so much better than an ice cooler!

I watched the video twice but I couldn’t hear which model you bought? How much does it weigh? I know you said it didn’t weigh a lot (more than once!!) but at my age, I would really love something that I can safely lift and put on a kitchen counter. I am looking for something that will be low power enough to last a while during a power outage. Thanks
@dadbudgetadventures6 ай бұрын
I got the APL 20 and according to their website it is 22.88 pounds. I think it would be a perfect addition to your disaster gear. It’s also not so cumbersome that it becomes awkward to lift. It has a pretty good form factor for easy lifting.

@dadbudgetadventures6 ай бұрын

@leisurelylogan6 ай бұрын
"Everything has an app." Wouldn't it be great it the API for that was open and you had a "Base Camp" device that could read that data, your Jackery data, etc... all in one place instead of opening your phone to that particular app? And, even better if the device was portable, so when you upgrade your RV/Camper/etc..., you can take all of your gadgets and "Base Camp" device with you. I like the retro-ish design of the latches and shell for this. I saw that the VL35 37QT (48.62lbs) one weighs twice that of the 21QT (22.88lbs). The price is definitely in the weight savings.

I would say it's worth the extra money cause the ice coolers are over rated I myself would be more than happy to get my hands on an old colman cooler, as far as ice coolers go! But after seeing the iceco cooler it's going to take off like a rocket there is no one I no in my Circle of Family and Friends that wouldn't want this cooler, from travelers Fisherman to Hunters. Say good bye to these modern day overly priced ice coolers.
