I've been dying for cold steel to make a knife like this. I wanted something besides the mini lawman and the mini recon 1 that was just a solid three inch blade. I hate having to carry my benchmade mini grip with my cold steel recon 1. Now I finally have a perfect knife to get to carry with my recon 1. Awesome! Can't wait to pick one up.

The blue clip point ProLite is one of my most carried knives. A lot of people 💩 on 4116 but so far it's been better than I expected.

Seems like a good edc knife.Tad bit smaller than a Pro-lite. A little pricey, hopefully it’ll come down after the initial drop. Carry a Pro-lite every day for work, 4116 has done everything I’ve asked and sharpens up nicely. I was late to the American Lawman party but have been having a blast since I got there.

I grabbed the Tanto on Midway USA and really like it. Love the Airlite, Lawman and Recon. This seems like the best parts of all these in a 3" EDC. The action on mine is stellar. I blame You Jimislash ;)

It’s definitely a good looking knife. All of the different elements/styles coming together like you mentioned should make for a great user. It’s a little small for my taste, but I’m sure it’ll be popular since it’s in a real sweet spot for people looking for a knife that will work well, look nice, and last a long time.

Usually Cold Steel hangs close to MSRP in the first year, then some good discounts start to show up. Don't know if that will hold true with all the shortages and inflation.

Trust Jimmi. Search for Cedric and Ada KZbin channel for cutting tests. JoeX on KZbin for toughness tests. Knife Steel Nerds for steel formulas. AUS8 turns out to be really tough, 4116 too.

CS has a "fact sheet" on their steels. They rate AUS10 as staying sharp 20% longer than AUS8. They rate 4116 a solid level above 4034 and refer to 4116 as a German steel and 4034 as Japanese steel. They give the impression 4116 is widely used in midgrade kitchen knives and 4034 in budget kitchen knives. For some reason the defensive 3.5" Crawford 1 uses theoretically inferior 4034 while the novelty 3" 1911 uses superior 4116. Maybe they assumed most people won't open packages with the Crawford 1 due to it's tactical appearance, but will use the much less scary 1911 day in and day out - hence the 1911 is the one really needing better edge retention. Or maybe the extra height of the Crawford blade, and extra thickness, matched up better with available flat plates or rolls of 4034 steel than 4116 steel. Or with minimum order quantities. Or maybe with pricing for the right width and thickness. The goal is as little scrap steel as possible. To be honest I think sometimes we think makers choose steels based on suitability or optimal match for a particular use, when in actuality it might just come down to reliable quality mill, pricing, availability in the desired size.

Are the G10 versions of the verdict ever gonna drop in price? They been out for awhile now and still $95 for AUS10? That’s overpriced big time. Price point for materials should be around the $50-60 range even with the triad lock.

Harsh but true. The whole reason I buy Cold Steel is because they stand out. This looks like kind of a common looking knife. Generic, even. And I'm a big Cold Steel fanboy haha. I just got a Recon Tanto SK-5 today lol! I really hope they don't fall into the trap of trying to be like everyone else.

I recently got a 4” ti-lite. I’m actually pretty impressed with it for the good deal I got for it. I got it for $22 off eBay. It carries in the pocket well. It clips on the pocket easily and it is wave openable with the grooved pocket catch. It has good lock up covering at least 50% of the blade base steel and the leaf spring to push it over is has a lot of tension on it. I don’t plan on doing heavy work with it but I’m also no afraid the blade will possibly slip past the lock and fold on me. So far I’ve just cut small things like paper and twine and stretch wrap plastic and it slices and pops like a hot knife through LSD butter. I aimed it menacingly at my shadow a couple times and then realized I was acting like Peter Pan and immediately stopped that sh¡t 😅 Its like right in between a small and large knife. It feels like a small large knife and a large small knife all at the same time. I would not give this to someone with low finger/thumb strength. It does take a considerable amount of pressure to close it but like I said that’s part of what makes it feel secure. If you’re looking for a medium size carry knife of good quality at an economic price I recommend it 4.5/5 Edit: it is AUS 8A blade steel. So decent edge retention and still easily be resharpened.

You might have snagged a good auction but at $22 you're more likely in the counterfeit zone. Sometimes it's hard to spot them, often the knives are close copies but the packaging is off.
