@@danielsanchez1271 There are more empty homes than homeless in America.
@nairsheasterling94572 жыл бұрын
@@danielsanchez1271 Does not change the fact there are more houses alone than homeless, and even more unused homes. Perhaps we should strip excess housing from those who merely accumulate it for investment and give it to the people who most need it. If we can bulldoze poor neighborhoods for highways and malls, we can take extra housing from the rich and distribute it through existing HUD home ownership and loan programs. Edit, for clarity: By excess, I mean more than a regular home, and one vacation home, max. Apartment landlords should be required by law to set aside 1 in 10 units for vouchers and/or cannot discriminate based on source of income, including vouchers. If they want to play monopoly man with apartment housing, they need to actually contribute to society in a meaningful way.

@enfant terrible How do you propose someone does this? The only way to drive the cost of housing down is to build more, a lot more. You could build a bare bones apartment that barely meets safety requirements and it will still not be affordable to the ordinary working people. A lot of people want to live here which means they are willing to pay more to secure themselves a spot.

A lot of people don't realize how regulated the housing industry is. If you wanted to build a home or apartement you have to use brick and mortar. The result is a kind of monopoly on building materials because everyone has to use traditional building materials. Kudos to this man for attempting to introduce different ways to build homes .

Better solution is to start building underground housing. Much easier to keep cool in the summer. Though the ground is like concrete (and doesn't absorb water) so not easy to excavate but to keep cooling costs down it makes sense.

There's a town in France that does the same thing but it's for more long term housing arrangement, not for short term lease. Why can't we do something like this to finish the border wall, and house the Border Patrol in them? Any leftover open units could be rented out at a reduced rate to people having trouble affording rent, and that income would bring money into the state.

EVs actually increase emissions of ‘greenhouse’ gases at all points until the average life expectancy of the EV fleet exceeds 300,000 miles. Current figures will have to improve very substantially to achieve that figure. For the foreseeable future at least driving EVs will actually increase emissions, not decrease it.
