You missed the best tip for inpainting: the “patchwork” technique to select a crisscross of some thin regions beyond your desired selection. The regions are too thin for the algorithm to change, but the extra sampled pixels will really help your inpaint match the surrounding style. Try this tip with the “eyes” or “facial expression” examples you showed. I learned this on the Discord community.
@FutureTechPilot Жыл бұрын
That's fascinating! I'll have to try it out. Thanks for sharing
@jorge0018 Жыл бұрын
hey man ! can you elaborate a little more ?! I´m interested on this but cound not understood the criss cross part. how youd do it tho. thanks !
@jasonp9508 Жыл бұрын
@@jorge0018 Sure! Select the region you want replaced, and also use the rectangle tool to select some additional regions that extend out into the rest of the image. I usually make them long and thin, some horizontal and some vertical, crossing each other like T shapes or tic-tac-toe. These regions are too narrow for MJ to invent new pixels for them, but including them in the selection seems to help the result match better in style/aesthetics with the original image. Looks less like a “photoshopped” pasted result. It doesn’t make a huge difference every time, and I think the inpainting has improved since it was first released so you might not need this trick as often, but it does still seem to help in my experience.

Your Channel has made a huge difference in my very neophyte use of MJ. THANK YOU. When you add 1960’s cottagecore, unsplash, where I find what that means? Are these basic prompts? If so where can I find a list? Thanks again.
@FutureTechPilot10 ай бұрын
Those are just some fun words I like to try. 1960s - for some older looking photos cottagecore - for a wholesome cottage vibe unsplash - it's a stock photography website, but it brings a consistent cinematic look to the pictures hope that helps!

thank you. I get 1960 and unsplash, thanks for that, but did you come up with cottagecore, or is that a basic prompt word? Thanks again.

@07:34 In MJ, if a select "Vary by Region", I don't see the prompt like, like you have, only the lasso/square drawing tools and a "Submit" button. So I can't change the prompt for the modified area. MJ just reuses the original prompt. Did MJ change something?
@FutureTechPilot Жыл бұрын
you need to make sure 'remix' is turned on ... you can find it in /settings or type /remix into the prompt box and hit enter

great video. I REALLY wish we had better selection tools with inpainting. something even like a soft round brush (with configurable edge opacity) would be an INCREDIBLE addition for anyone used to a more traditional digital workflow. the tile trick is pretty fantastic and a great way to add multiple tiles to an infinite pattern. Personally if I was wanting to make more colorful eye variations I wouldn't be afraid of using MJ to blow out the colors to a fantastic level then bringing them both into photoshop and painting the new color of eye in place with a blending mode/opacity change to find the right level of "realism". I know most people are wanting to create unedited images straight from MJ but sometimes you just need to look for alternate toolsets to drill in the details. =)

Would be very helpful also if there was a zoom in option.

I should have mentioned this more clearly in the video. You need to have 'remix' turned on. You can find it in the /settings or type /remix into the prompt box and hit enter to toggle it on and off

With a wide smile it's probably better to add eyes in the modified area as well since they narrow a bit. My impression, at least.

I’m so confused with the tile thing. What does inpainting do that -tile doesn’t accomplish on it’s own?
@tbone773tbone773 Жыл бұрын
I think it just added a more complicated variant inside the original generation. Seems kind of like a niche tip though.
@FutureTechPilot Жыл бұрын
it just gives you a bigger 'tile' - like normally, the tile is just 1/4 the size of a grid. When you inpaint using --tile, you get a tile that's the size of a full grid ... super niche for sure! But still a cool effect
