My husband and I bought a M&I Homes new build last year and have been very disappointed. There appears to be very little pride in the work. In many spots the paint from the wall ran on to the baseboards. The windows are quite cheap. The first row of exterior brick is placed directly on the concrete with no sill plate installed. We asked for a grab bar to be installed by the step from the garage to the house and while they said they would, they never installed it. When I asked for cabinets to be installed in the laundry room above the washer/dryer instead of the cheap wire shelf, they basically just refused saying it was too late to do that, even though the drywall hadn't been put in yet. The garage is so tight that the passenger has to wait for the driver to get the car out of the garage in order for the passenger to get in the car. Most of the people in the community actually end up parking outside even though they have a 2 or 3 car garage. The day we moved in, the garbage disposal didn't work. So you might ask why we went ahead with the purchase and I would say because it is 6 minutes from our son's home. That is the only reason. Otherwise a very disappointing experience. BTW, we've had 3 other homes built for us so we aren't rookies expecting unrealistic workmanship.

That’s disappointing to here. Are you able to make repair requests within the first year?

@@TeamSztanyo Supposedly, yes. However, after the first several excuses why our requests couldn't be done, we just stopped asking. The things that really were important to us, we hired it done and paid for it ourselves. Quite honestly we didn't have faith that the builder would do it right, so we only had them fix the garbage disposal. Everything else we took care of ourselves.
