The passage of the SECURE Act 2.0 “SECURE 2.0” in December 2022 has resulted in various implications for retirement plans as well as charitable giving. Join Kevin White, Region Director for Empower Retirement, and Michelle Geller, Senior Director of the Office of Gift Planning at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for a discussion on how the Act is impacting qualified retirement plans. Specifically, the program will focus on:
Increased Required Beginning Date (RBD)
Decreased Excise Tax on Missed RMDs
529 to Roth Rollover
Increased Catch-Up Contributions
Retirement Planning Opportunities
The expansion of the IRA QCD to allow for life income gifts
Other Miscellaneous Changes

Michelle Geller; Senior Director, Office of Gift Planning, UT Knoxville
Kevin White is a proud alumnus of the University of Tennessee with a business degree in Finance. For the last 30 years, Kevin has specialized in helping companies create, design, and implement successful retirement plans for their employees. Providing the tools necessary for the average American worker to take the mystery out of retirement planning and making a difference in their lives is one of his greatest rewards.
Michelle Geller serves as Senior Director of Gift Planning at UT Knoxville. In this role she works primarily with donors who have, or are considering, making a legacy gift to UTK.
Michelle, who has worked in Institutional Advancement for fifteen years, enjoys working with individuals and families on developing strategies to accomplish their philanthropic goals through a variety of gift vehicles. Prior to her tenure in institutional advancement Michelle served as a lobbyist in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. for GSP Consulting (now Duane Morris Government Relations) and Blank Rome Government Relations.
Michelle holds a B.A. in Communications Studies and an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from Duquesne University. Michelle is a current member of UTK Commission for Women and has served on the boards of several local non profit organizations including Girls on the Run Knoxville and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
