The cycle only lasted about a month. After that it went through the diatom phase, and then after adding a few of my corals and a few fish it had a second algae outbreak of that brown slimy algae that loosely blankets the rock until it dissipates. That is why a few of the corals have a small amount of die back at the bases, but are recovering well now.

Overall I am sure that tank will be stunning when mature. The AI's make everything look great. I a, really not a fan of bare bottom tanks and overall the fish selection doesn't impress me much. This build is still a very impressive build and overall. Looking forward to watching it grow.

@ jharmantas...it looks like Marco Rock. It's actually mined inland in Florida from a quarry. A good environmentally sound alternative to actual live rock, which must be harvested from actual reefs. Because it isn't actual live rock, your cycle might be a bit longer but you won't introduce any pests to your closed system... @ Advanced Reefing - Am looking forward to seeing the finished stand and wood work. Also, why a poly sump over the traditional acrylic? System looks great!!!

Awesome! How long was his cycle? It looks like some of the corals are still adjusting and will most likely color up as they settle in. Great start!

The tusk is no problem with the current fish in the tank. If I was to add another wrasse it may be a different story. As to inverts...If I had any he would probably eat them for sure.

When can we see the finished stand? Also, I for one like the bare bottom. Having lived through the nightmare of trying to clean a DSB packed with detritus out of a large reef with lots of rock, I get the virtues of a bare bottom. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like with zoas, etc on the bottom.

Ida's that dry rock? Pukani? Did you cure the rock? Did you cycle the tank? Isn't it too early for the SPS colonies? Dude don't leave out the good stuff! This isn't Tanked LOL
