I also have OCD. Have you started ERP? Watching videos like this, while informative, could be considered a compulsion or "seeking reassurance" behavior, and might be making your obsessions worse. If you can't afford ERP, there are also free GOAL support groups that are really useful for keeping these behaviors in check!

Although it's obvious to me having had to do this a lot, it's worth mentioning that you only count the IN AND OUT as ONE. Rather than in and out as 2. This isn't obvious to every one.

Cats tend to hind their symptoms extremely well, if you have any suspicion in your cats behavior than I would suggest getting them looked at regardless. Its is always better to be safe rather than sorry.

@@MartiMcfly-mf9pq That's great! It is always better to be safe, especially when dealing with felines who hide their symptoms extremely well. My cat was acting strange for a couple months (very subtle things), and when I finally got around to taking him to the vet; he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Now I am here kicking myself in the butt for not taking it as serious as I should've. I just don't want anyone to go through this, so if you do have any suspicions, I would take them seriously as soon as possible. I pray your kitty is as healthy as he/she can be, and may god protect over you both :)

I just adopted a 10 month old kitten. Her breathing seems very fast and irregular when she's not resting, especially when she's purring... Her whole body seems to slightly vibrate with her breath very fast with the purring. It's not due to stress, these are times when she seems very affectionate. At rest, the count is normal. Should I be concerned? I just went through a horrible time with my last kitty as she was sick for many months and this kitty was supposed to help me heal. I can't adopt a sick kitty (even though I'm falling in love already!). Thanks.

My cat is 18 years old and I started checking her breathing 2 years ago. She takes 55 breaths a minute most times I check. The vet does not seem concerned. She's on thyroid meds a few years. I don't know what to say. I don't want anyone to read this and think 55 is fine and ignore it, but maybe do not panic either? IDK.
@USMCMachine Жыл бұрын
@@chrisbiker4702I think most cats like people will have different resting heart rates. I’ve seen 15-30 and 20-35 used as example. My cat seems to breathe fast she’s only 7 and a half months. She’s always been about 36-40 resting. Humane society didn’t say anything was wrong with her. And the vet a few weeks ago said her heart and lungs sound great. I think it should still be watched by everyone. But maybe for those who worry. Get your cat checked and then maybe get a baseline of what your own cats normal is. Because all of our kitty’s are unique and won’t be the same. Just my opinion.

Don't make sense not to count your cats breathing. You would want to know if its breathing properly or not . The dr should of explained why he didn't see the need for you checking this , But at the end of the day You have to determine if you're concerned with the wellbeing of your pet since you're the one that sees the behavior and health of that pet every single day.
@SarahLiz84112 жыл бұрын

does the vet knows that it is SUPERFRUSTRATING for cats to be pet at the back (watch the ticks, small electrocutions so to say) and at the head just like any other animal they perceive it as attack. while ONLY we pet cats at the side of their chicks and below their mouth.
@zachanikwano Жыл бұрын
???? If you're annoying the cat it will let you know. Hiss, yowl, scratch, run away. My cat loves being pet everywhere except sometimes the belly (she has to be in the mood for it). Many cats I've met love being pet most everywhere too
@djnolan000004 ай бұрын
Its all about trust, and vulnerability. The neck and torso are full of vital organs that are at risk when exposed (humans have it bad cuz we descended from primates in trees) anyways when a cat exposes their belly to you to pet it, its a gesture of trust. Like how a dog is with sticking their necks out. We humans have a jerk instinct to freak out when something covers our necks oe airways too
