Sadly our rescue cat was quiet and not active, and I noticed very heavy breathing which didn't seem normal. We took him to the vet, blood tests and ultrasound diagnosed major heart failure and he had incredible amounts of fluid in his lungs and around his heart. We had not choice but to let him go. We rescued him at 11 yrs but gave him 5 years of a happy and safe inside life with us.

my 2months old cat also has difficulty breathing since accidentally stepped on my sister .. we took her immediately to the Vet when that happened. she was in xray and the result was that her lungs moved in his heart. she said the option was operation. but I didn't pay because I didn't have money to pay the operation. I just took her home and gave her the medicine prescribed to her by the Vet. 14 days after the accident, she sent us back for a follow -up check -up and the Vet said she needed an MIR to find out what was the real reason why she was having difficulty breathing. 😔 but what can I do I don't have money to check her up again😭

My cat suffered for 9 years because I didn’t know what cat asthma looked like. What I thought was just coughing/hair ball, I would try to offer him water. (Not a great cat mom). I finally saw a video on cat asthma on KZbin and I took a video of my cat having an attack to my vet. He now uses an inhaler with a mask. I trained him to let me place the mask in his face by feeding him treats out of the mask. Then slowly holding the mask to his face and then giving him a treat. The inhaler does great and I can tell his asthma attacks are associated with seasonal allergies. We have air purifiers in the house to help him and my own allergies. He’s a happy 20 year old now… doing just fine. (Inhaler is very expensive but it lasts him a very long time) Thank you!

Started him on the wellness powder vitamins & started him walking with me one tenth -then 2tenths of a mile so every week now -it’s a full mile - no more asthma in months and mo.s ! He was 12 years old when I took him - now almost 14 years old doing wonderful! ( if I felt hard on him or anything not right would of stopped immediately)! But he’s doing amazing and even lost 3 pounds ! I think past owners kept him in cage and smoked ! He’s seeing the world now and I feel he loves it ! No more cages ever ! He thinks he’s in heaven 😅

Wow! 20-years-old! Keep up the great work. What type of cat is he? I had a male live to 20, and I just had to put my dear little Angel down. She was 21-1/2 years old, but she developed fluid in her small intestines and had started vomiting frequently earlier in the previous week. I took her to St. Francis's specialty Veterinarian Hospital to see what they could do. That was when we found the problem, and she wouldn't even eat or drink water. She also had what looked like a mass in her spleen. I really miss her, but I know without a doubt that I gave her the best life she could ever have when I adopted her, and for that, I can be at peace.

Sorry for the late reply guys. X-rays did not find anything. They did guided ultrasound to find pleural effusion which is when fluids build up around the lungs (essentially suffocating them since the lungs cannot expand enough to breathe). For my cat the cause was due to congestive heart failure. I am located in the US and my cat was 15.

Our cat has been breathing heavy for a week. She spent a week at the hospital. They did bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds...everything came back normal and "great" for a kitty her age. She won't eat. They syringed fed her. She is on antibiotics, a bronchodilator, a med to help heart functions, anti-fungal... they are throwing the "kitchen sink" at her. They are stumped and they are extremely good vets. We brought her home to see if she would improve. She has become a bit more active, is drinking, and letting us feed her. However, she continues to breathe heavy. It is heartbreaking!

One of my cats sometimes wheezes (?) after drinking from the water fountain. :( She's very jittery and won't let me close even in a normal situation (I can only touch her if she comes to me for pets or she's sleeping, she likes pets when sleeping), but she always does it only a few times and then continues as if nothing happened. She'll choose the water fountain over a bowl of water despite this. :/ Vet hasn't noticed anything abnormal with her, so I guess she's just a sloppy drinker and inhales water while drinking.

They kept saying he had a good chance of recovering too so it was all contradicting and confusing. Our per got restless and couldn’t seem to relax / lay down about a week after the lung tap while waiting for oncology apt so we took him to er again and insisted they address his breathing issues - he passed - the whole ordeal was too stressful. 😢

@kirsten8792 жыл бұрын
@@heatherdawn3344 Well, we didn’t end up focusing quite as much attention on the sneezing and wheezing, which thankfully she hasn’t been doing any more of for the last few weeks, because we discovered at the vet appt on 4/11 that she had lost 2.7 pounds in the 3 weeks since her physical on 3/23. 😳 So since then she’s had a battery of tests to try to figure out what’s causing the weight loss (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal analysis, and an ultrasound). Nothing was amiss in any of the tests, so the vet suspects something is happening with her intestinal lining that’s preventing her from fully absorbing nutrients. The next step, starting Monday, is putting her on a prescription hypo-allergenic diet to see if that helps. Worst case scenario is that she could have inflammatory bowel disease or small cell lymphoma, but the vet assured me that both are relatively manageable with steroids, and that oral chemo for cats is also quite tolerable. Fingers crossed! And apologies for this essay of a reply on something not even directly related to your question! The vet did say that she suspects my kitty may have mild feline asthma, but that unless she’s having an attack more than once a month or so, and with the attacks being mild and not lasting longer than ~30 seconds, there’s no need to treat her for now. And thank you so much for your good wishes for my kitty-so appreciated! 😘

Dr. Wooten...I recently took in a rescued 12 yr old female who was abandoned by her original family. I am a senior on limited income, so I ask your advice. This cat seems to PUSH out her breath at times. She doesn't 'cough', hack or otherwise seem to have breathing trouble, eats well, drinks water. However, she also has an intermittent whistling when she purrs that I've never heard before in a cat that ONLY occurs when she purrs. I can report that both issues have subsided since she's come to live with me (about 6 months) but she is now ONLY indoor whereas was indoor/outdoor previously. Her original family never took her to a vet so I have no medical history or diagnosis. Her rescuer treated her for URI once and I also had her on antibiotics 1x. She seems happy, well attached despite her early years. I know you cannot diagnose sight unseen, just give me an overall opinion if possible. Thank you.

I am desperately searching your videos as I believe my kitty, Charlie, is dying. Very long story but we adopted him from a shelter back in 2013, not sure of age-maybe 10? He had a bit of respiratory stuff thought it was an FHV gave meds no help. Other cat is fine so not contagious. Fast forward, started with what I can only describe as cough-sneeze sound. Now I can tell he has a lot of congestion in nose and lungs. Today is, well haven't slept so it's very early Monday. Friday all of a sudden he got very Ill. Wouldn't eat. Hiding and did not want to be bothered. Whiny growl sound when we tried to coaks (so) him out. Normally the most gentle loving, affection kitty albeit sketchy and nervous. Later that evening came out. Wandering around from room to room. Saturday had company (usually would hide) came out and was very- social? Lethargic, pupils dilated, seemed "high" for lack of a better word. As though he were on some type of halluciagion (sp). Has not eaten still. Tried to give treats, smelled and promptly vomited. (I forgot he was vomiting Friday too) Sunday, very weak, won't eat couldn't get him to drink even via syringe. Wandering but also waaayyy more social than usual. Suddenly no fear of ANYTHING which is VERY odd. Was brief mouth breathing. Mucus (green) coming from nose. Still trying to vomit but nothing inside so just clear foam. Obviously dehydrated. I contacted online vet as we are broke and have a major hurricane heading to Florida this week. Vet wasn't much help obviously without hands on. Later... I've caught him taking tiny, itty-bitty sips of water here and there. Literally a lick or two. Still walking around. SCARY part- one eye was normal ish size while other dilated. Have not ONCE seen him use the litter box since perhaps Thursday or very early Friday. (I've been with him almost constantly but he could've while I was in another room) Early Monday morning (today)- I woke up after two hours sleep to find him at the very top of their cat pole. Very unusual for him. Pupils dilated again but one eye looks VERY odd! Maybe third eye detached? All this time he doesn't look at me or my husband but doesn't appear blind at all. Definitely unstable and weak. Tried to offer wet food- absolutely NOT. Took one lick of water. No more (that I've seen or heard) wretching or vomiting. No crying. No purring which he normally constantly does. Ears and paws are cold body normal feeling of warmth. Feels lighter-has lost weight. Years ago vet noticed dilated pupils wanted testing for blood pressure (blood work?) And chest x-ray but didn't have money. Said it could be high blood pressure, heart, or kidney disease. Maybe mentioned possible thyroid?? I sound like a horrible mom. We don't have money. Rent TRIPLED bills, food tripled. Income did not I have set up a sort of go fund me on my Instagram (heather.avila_ ) received about $50 since last evening which should be enough to get him an office visit but nothing more. Why am I writing this? Because I'm desperate. I'm scared, and grieving. I need to vent, to talk with someone who cares about cats. I don't want him to suffer. If treatable DEFINITELY would love that but believe he's dying. Maybe organs are shutting down. His personality changed along with his behaviors. Opposite of what "normal" dying, sick or injured cats would do in tes of behavior. So calm and social. THAT is not Charlie. Please anyone who may read this, don't condemn me for not doing more. I feel bad enough. We've done what we could over the years. They have both had tons of love, play, warmth, and good quality food. Even have their own water fountains with filters for clean, cool, moving water. We rescued him from certain death from the shelter. Probably her (Pita) too. 😭 Thx for letting me vent and your videos

I just lost my cat about a quarter of the way to the only vet that would take him. Every damn vet in our town refused to see him and the closest vet we could find that would see him was about an hour and a half away. Right now, I hate vets with a passion. And this was early Monday afternoon, so its not like they had to lose sleep. I'm still broken up over losing him as he was my fur baby.

@@AllAboutCatsYT thank you. I don't put any blame on you as a vet, but those around here have earned my unending hatred. I'm not sure my boy could have been saved, but they should have at least tried. Thank you for your vids. They may help some people. But I really wish that you would look at reforming your fellow vets. Doctors have a Hypocritic oath, maybe vets need something of the type. Maybe come up with an oath and call it the Wooten Oath. No one should have to go thru what I'm going thru. And yes, I would not hate them if someone had even tried to help. I don't expect miracles, so if someone had seen Jelly (my cat) and he had still passed, I would still be sad, but not the way I feel now. I would not blame them. But since NO ONE would even look at him... well I guess I'll go on hating them.

I've taken my cat to the vet TWICE for this already, DVM suspected bronchitis and gave a steroid that made her lethargic. I took her back and the doctor explained away her symptoms by saying it could just be allergies..... this will be the 3rd visit in the span of THREE WEEKS that I would have to make and I don't feel hopeful that they'll tell me anything different. She continues to sneeze and sounds like she's wheezing but here I am giving her zyrtec for allergies.

My cat is a tiny one year old and she snores, has noisy breathing when exhaling, and her small body rocks when she is laying on her side and breathing. She does everything very slowly (like drinking, eating or even licking), when she swallows she gulps a lot and it sounds like she is trying to breath as well as swallow My cat saw the vet and the vet said she had a tight airway in her neck area but didn’t do anything about it. I started getting worried after her breathing started getting even noisier so I gave her some Ventolin I had laying around. She starting going up the stairs faster and I don’t even hear her breathe or snore. Our cat had trouble breathing today. He was eating, moving, hugging and suddenly he started breathing heavy trough the nose. We waited 5 minutes to see if it went down and called the vet. Got a rental car in 5 minutes and went to the vet. They though he was hit by a car cause his nails are broken. But his nails are always bad, cause he love to be outside. We did see him having some coughing attacks before and thought it was a hairball. The vet made a photo of the lungs and did not see blood, fluid of a collapsed lung so we are happy with that. I really think he does have asthma. Tonight he needs to stay in a Oxygen cage and gets Prednison. We hope to hear news tomorrow, please pray for our sweet sweet boy! ❤️❤️❤️

3 weeks ago, my then indoor /outdoor cat stayed out the night which was very strange for him, and didn't want to eat. Next morning he was hiding in bushes and I knew something wasn't right so I carefully picked him up and put him on my bed and he curled up to rest but upon inspection I noticed his breathing was quite abnormal and began to count his breaths and it was up to 40 ish. That afternoon being my vet was closed for th day I rushed him to the 24 hour animal ER. He was dx with UTD, and stayed three days. So yeah paying attention to their breathing is very necessary even if it is not a respiratory problem because it gives you a clue that something is not right. Thankyou for this great video by the way! Learned a lot.😊😊

Thank you for this very educational video. First of all: My cat was diagnosed with FeLV when we adopted her 10 months earlier. Friday, I took my cat to the vet due to dyspnea, very "snotty", and she had not eaten in 3 days. She was running a fever and was provided with Convenia also provided with appetite stimulant. Blood work looked did not change significantly from 10 months ago. I was told not to expect immediate improvement due to her diagnosis and it takes time for these cats to "recover". 2 days later, I took her back in as her condition only worsened- blood work still looked "stable", they changed the appetite stimulant as she was still not eating. They gave her subQ fluids, an injection for nausea and also appetite stimulant and I took her home. She went into respiratory distress a few hours later and died. I feel like something was overlooked. I believe some vets will not try or even misdiagnose once a cat is diagnoses with FIV or FeLV.

Thank you for creating my this video - it confirmed my suspicions that my cat's breathing was abnormal even though one of his veterinarians told me his lungs sounded fine (my cat is 13 and diabetic, and sees an internist regularly to monitor his blood sugar). An x ray two weeks later at his regular vet found severe bronchointerstitial pattern. Long story short things got worse after a few days of antibiotics and steroid inhaler and he required hospitalization. He's stable now and will hopefully come home today. Always trust your gut when it comes to your pets - you know them best! And especially cats, they hide illness so well and the changes in their behavior can be so gradual.

Thank you for this information. It’s so useful to have. I shared a vid of my cat having a serious wheezing attack (happens frequently, especially during summer) and vet simply brushed it off as “normal allergies and nothing to worry about.” She loves to play but has to take breaks because of breathing. I’ve seen another vet, and their response was “it’s normal for cats to be lazy.” I did my own research and with the “allergy vet” sign-off, I asked to treat with OTC Zyrtec (low dose 1x day). It has seemed to help, but I really wish I could see a vet that took the wheezing seriously and understood how much it impacts my cat’s behavior. Still looking but it’s stressful to keep trying new locations.

I haven't watched this video yet- But I really needed to say this. Slight content warning here, but this is a story that means a lot to me.💗 The day before yesterday I was babysitting for my aunt. I went to leave her house, started my car, slowly started to back up (slower than normal because I'm unfamiliar with their driveway) and saw a cat dart out from under my car. I wanted to make sure it was okay and that it wasn't my aunt's cat, and walked right up to it. It was walking fine, no visible injuries, but it was breathing heavy (mouth closed) and its eyes were dilated. I got concerned immediately and tried to pick it up, and it let me pick it right up and it even leaned into me and curled up in my arms. That was weird. It was clearly hurt or upset by the huge thunderstorm going on, so I walked through the rain to the nearby houses and asked the neighbors if it was their cat or if they knew whose it was. No one had ever seen it before. It was still breathing heavy and being kind of still and unresponsive in my arms, so I started to freak out. My uncle confirmed that that cat had never been in their area before (very small cluster of houses in a rural area, not suburban or near other houses). I brought her to my car and she curled up in my seat, and I dried her off with some towels. I started to call every emergency vet in my area. Many turned me away because it wasn't my cat. Others were a minimum of $200 just to be able to get her seen. I ended up at Paws Humane (a no-kill shelter here) and our Humane Society next to it. Paws came out to my car and check to see if she had a microchip, she did not. They also said that it just seemed like she was extremely nervous from the rain, and that cats breathe heavy and have their eyes dilated when they're in shock. Again, huge thunderstorm happening, so that made sense. They said she was likely someone's indoor cat who got scared and ran out of the house and tried to find shelter under my car. I parked and started posting all over online, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, lost pet sites, etc. No one had posted that they were missing a cat yet. Paws then told me to go over to the Humane Society to see if they would take her and check her out. Humane Society turned me away because she wasn't found in that specific town, but the town next over. They couldn't give me any advice on alternatives or what to do. So, I took her home. Got her dried off, set up a little box, made sure she had easy access to food and water and good hiding spots in my little office. She was still panicking so I tried to leave her alone. She even used the litter box, and her poop looked normal. Within an hour she even managed to fall asleep, and her breathing settled so I had hope that she was finally feeling better. I let her sleep a couple hours before checking on her again. I woke her up, and she seemed a bit more limp and weaker than before. Her heavy breathing started back as soon as she was awake. I immediately got worried so I video called my boyfriend and we checked out the symptoms online and decided that it was time to take her to an emergency vet. He loves cats so he was happy to pay the vet bill, no matter how high. He's such a blessing. I immediately left, started calling all of the after hours vets (it was about 7 at this point) as I drove into the city. There was only one open, and they refused to take her because she wasn't my cat. Told me to call 911 and ask for the Humane Society. I told them they already turned me away but the woman insisted. I called 911, asked, and of course the HS was closed. I was out of options. The cat was looking very weak by now and just wanted to curl up, so I knew something was definitely wrong and she was not just in shock due to getting out because of the storm. Out of desperation, I called a vet that belonged to a big college about an hour away, and they said I could surrender her and they could take her and make sure they got her better. It was perfect. But, it was an hour away. So I drove... way too quickly. I would have been arrested if I'd been caught driving as fast as I was, and I was completely okay with that. I could be arrested as long as the policeman would get us to that animal hospital. 40 minutes into the drive, she meows in pain for the first time. I start crying and diving faster because I know I don't have much time left, and she really is dying. I was already heartbroken. Just a couple of minutes later, she starts to vomit blood and cry and writhe in pain. It was dark blood, which I later learned that meant it was a sign that one of her organs in her digestion tract or around there had been damaged. She did this for what felt like forever but I know it was probably less than two minutes, before I slowly felt her stop breathing under my hand. We had less than 20 minutes left. We almost made it. I've been a mess since. I kept petting her as I apologized over and over and sobbed. It was terrible. I'm a mess all over again every time I even think about it. I wanted her to live. I was willing to do anything to keep her alive, and I was still too late because I listened to all of those people who brushed me off or acted like they couldn't help me or even didn't want to... I kept speaking to her sweetly as I wrapped her small body in the warm blanket she was laying on and kept my hand on it as I drove home. I wished I could have felt her start to breathe again. This was my first time witnessing death (I'm 19, currently alone as my boyfriend is LDR and my grandparents travel for work) and i was alone when it happened, it hurt so much. I buried her in my backyard as if she were my own pet. I wish she could have been, since it's clear her owner, if she even had one, wasn't going to take care of her. The reason I say that is, my aunt messaged the entire neighbor community where she lived explaining that we had found this cat and sent pictures. No one had ever seen it before. Not a "oh, I might have seen it around, but it's not mine." They don't have strays there. Someone dumped that cat, either knowing it was injured or sick, or dumped it knowing it didn't know how to survive outside and let it get hit by a car or something because of that. I am heartbroken. Was it my car that hurt her? Did I kill her..? I've looked everywhere for her owner. I've replayed it over and over in my head. I tear up every time I snuggle or play with my cat and think about how I could have given the one I found a life like that if I could have saved her. I'm so heartbroken over this, so I cannot believe you uploaded this video barely days after this happened.. I wish I had this to watch when this happened. Maybe things would have gone differently. I hope this can help me find peace. She deserved the world. 💗

Thank you for this extremely important video. We have had several cats but 3+ have had very serious & different breathing problems. Kitty Abby was only 7 when she developed extensive chylothorax… that was detected by the vet on a routine exam, although she had no obvious alarming breathing behaviors initially. Hence: vets can detect things even before we notice them. Regular exams ate important. Kitty Lucy started sneezing quite a lot when we moved into a new house. But, she also cornered behind a toilet. After a regular vet visit, instinct told us we should take her to Penn Vet (univ of PA). She had nasal pharyngeal cancer. The stress of moving might have exacerbated her behaviors, but thanks to two rounds of radiation, we had her for 3 more years. I recommend CyberKnife Proton Radiation if it’s available in your area for that kind if radiation. Kitty Sophie is only 5.5 but has asthma. She seemed to have a mild dry cough, like she was trying unproductively to cough up a hairball but couldn’t. X-rays showed mild asthma & though she was put on pred initially to reduce inflammation & symptoms, we are transitioning to an aerocat adapter for an inhaler long-term. Patience, love and calm, gooey treats in the inhaler mask help with the transition. There are lots of videos on youtube. Just keep with it. We also fostered 2 kittens who, unbeknownst to us, were FIP positive. One went into respiratory failure on the way to emergency vet, even though i did mouth to mouth the entire way. His litter mate succumbed, as well. That was traumatic. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT IF YOUR CAT ISN’T BREATHING NORMALLY… GO TO YOUR VET OR VET-ER IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!! NOW, IF THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG! This isn’t the time for internet research. Get your cat immediate care. Please. This is an exceptional video! Thank you!

I discovered your video because my cat has kidney disease and is dehydrated. Her previous vet said to give her sub q fluids once every three days. I felt it should be more. Yesterday I took her back to the same vet clinic but was seen by a different vet and she said my cat is dehydrated and to give her sub q fluids everyday. Her levels were very elevated and we're trying to flush them out this way because I'm pretty much broke right now. Spent $3,000 in January for my cat to be in the hospital for 48 hours when we first found out about her condition. The night before her vet appointment (yesterday), she started making small sounds while breathing. When she was seen by the vet, she was having bouts of hyperventilating - which the vet is saying its from her being so dehydrated. I've been searching the net for validation from what the vet said, but I do know I've experienced panic attacks when I'm dehydrated. Today was day 2 for sub fluids and I'm hoping in a day or two, we'll see her not hyperventilating from just changing sleeping positions. :/ Thanks for this video, was good info. Would be nice to see some videos regarding the situation I'm seeing right now. I mostly get results for panting, which isn't what she's doing. She has a resting respirator rate of 18. When she's hyperventilating, I just brush/lightly pet her and talk to her, try to get her to relax/calm down.

Is it possible that a hairball can get stuck in a cat’s throat and cause wheezing? For background info… We started with antibiotics and steroids but I mistakenly didn’t request bloodwork at the same time. She died before I could get her back to the animal clinic. I have good reason to believe she had one huge hairball in her stomach. Immediately previous to the wheezing she coughed and hacked for at least 15 minutes then vomited about 1/4 cup of thick foam. She was 12 years old and during the six years she was with me I never saw her cough up a single hairball. I didn’t realize that was a problem until I started doing frantic internet searches trying to help her. (She was an indoor cat.)

At age 3 1/2, my cat started panting at mealtime, during car rides to the vet, and once he arrived at he vet. Thought the mealtime panting was cute, not so much the car rides. Vet thought it was cute at first, too, then ordered a proBNP blood test. Came back positive. Took him to a cardiologist and was told everything was fine, that there were a lot of false positives. For whatever reason, Denamarin, a milk thistle/sam-e liver supplement stopped the panting. Fast forward, he's 13 1/2 now, has chronic kidney disease, and was recently put on 100 ml every other day fluids. About a week ago I was laying in bed with him, and he made that funny cat sniffy face, but it wasn't funny. I heard one exhale. He was sort of sitting up, and I kept asking him if he was okay. It didn't last long, but I immediately stopped sub qs. Shortly after, I took him to the vet for loss of muscle mass and mentioned that sniffy face. She blew it off because she must think I'm some kind of hypochondriacal cat mom. I asked her to order the proBNP test, and it came back sky high, the highest she'd ever seen. I now have an appointment with a cardiologist and hope nothing happen between then and now. I truly believe the proBNP is a test that all cats should receive by age 8, maybe even sooner. Have their blood pressure checked at this time, too, and if your vet's BP machine is down, find another vet. I lost 2 cats to sudden heart attacks, and the agonizing howls and yowls are something you never want to hear. Worrying about this one now... Please pray that he will be okay. The worst part is treating heart disease with diuretics hurts the kidneys, and giving the cat with kidney disease lots of water hurts the heart. So you have to find some sort of balance there and hope it works. My cat is my world. If you're reading this, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers because, as I always tell him, we are one soul and always will be.

I think my cat has a nasal deformity. I've argued with my moms vet about this, but they keep saying her lungs sound fine. They keep making excuses to not do imaging and I don't know why when I requested it. I'm thinking of switching vets cause even if she's fine I want to know 100% and see the imaging. My cat is 5 years old and a stray rescue from Mexico. She breathes so LOUD but not fast, just loud like Darth Vader. 95% percent of the time she's relaxed on her side and grooms constantly even if she's breathing loudly. Sometimes, most often at night she has something that looks like the asthma attacks my mom has. She hunches over like was mentioned, to try and get more air than makes a sound like the stridor breathing the vet explained; very loud ragged breathes that can wake me up out of sleep. once I pet her she calms down and goes back to breathing normal (for her). She's not very active but that's more of her disposition, my other cats are competitive and she's very laidback so she prefers to play alone. After play she's not out of breathe or anything. she just has those weird stridor fits every once in a while. sorry just had to put it out there cause I'm worried while I look for a new vet.

This video was super helpful so I took LOTS of notes! My cat started having breathing issues in January. She's had blood work done, a heartworm test, radiographs, and has been on prednisolone for almost two months now with very minimal progress. The ONLY symptom she has is difficulty breathing. She's a super active 4 year old tortie and often skips naps because she's so busy running our household lol. Since she's been on the steroids, she has gained quite a bit of weight which is a huge concern I have because she wasn't over weight at all when she started (she weighed 8lbs the beginning of April and is now up to 10-11lbs). Her blood work came back normal, heartworm test was negative, and her radiographs show possible signs of Asthma but her vet swears up and down that she does not have Asthma. He said he does not see any clinical signs of any kind of illness. We also had her taking CatLax daily for 7 days and that did absolutely nothing. We were referred to a specialist and have that appointment scheduled for June 2nd. She has already seen two vets from January to now so I'm PRAYING this doctor will help figure out what's wrong with her. I've purchased 3 air purifiers with Hepa filters, dust and vacuum regularly, I've even switched her food thinking maybe she had a food allergy but I didn't see any difference in her breathing, her coat looks nice though (AvoDerm). I have always used an unscented litter for her and even placed an air purifier right next to her box. So far everything we've tried or done has not had any type of positive affect on her. Thank you for sharing this video.

We started doing breathing treatments by putting her in her crate, covering it with a light blanket, and running a nebulizer with saline solution for 10 minutes a day. Also, not much of a positive affect on her with that either but we are still doing it regularly.

@@desireeann3734 Bless your heart. You sound like such a great cat mom who loves her kitty dearly and is doing your very best to help her. I'm sorry the cause and cure for her issue seem so elusive. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Hang in there. Stay determined, hopeful, and optimistic and keep loving and nurturing her as much as you can. I will be praying for your kitty's healing. Warm regards 💗🧡❤️

@@kerrigray7527 thank you so much for your kind words ❤️❤️ Chloe was officially recently diagnosed with Asthma and we were able to get in under control within 24 hours of taking her to a specialist and thats when we learned that the prednisilone she was taking was a "watered down" version. We got her on the right stuff and she's been great ever since! We don't even have to use the nebulizer on her anynore. We just lowered her dose this week and are hoping that she can completely stop taking it. We will have to wait and see of course but she's been back to her normal self, the one I haven't seen since this started in January. She's definitely getting all the love and attention she needs, and More! 🥰

Following this because my own kitty is experiencing what you're describing. He's on an antihistamine now & it helps but it still hasn't eliminated what's going on & we haven't been able to get into a vet yet to see what the culprit could be if it is allergies? Wishing you the best of luck with your baby! ❤️❤️

Thank you for this! Snoring higher pitched sometimes. I need to pay more attention to the type of snoring, which happens from time to time. No issue with energy or appetite. No nasal discharge.

The last 24 hours of cat’s life, I rushed her to the emergency vet. They did remove fluid. After that they informed me the fluid would return. Congestive heart failure. I wish they told me prior to draining it then and I wouldn’t have let them do the procedure. Sure enough, in a few hours she was breathing hard again. This darling had beaten sarcoma (leg amputee age 5) and had lymphoma the final 30 days of her life. She was 16ys 10mos old. Sweetest girl. 💔

By rhe way our senior cat pretty girls had a diabetes. Months ago she was drinking water all the time same as the dog Angel before she passed. Later, weeks ago.pretty girl is slowing down and she keep drinking too much water. And last week we noticed she has fluids building up. We took her to the vet and says she has cancer, heart failure and vet nothing they can do to save our pretty girl. We decided to just bring her home and let her comfortable as possible. She starts eating less and fast breathing. Few days after check up, today two hours ago she died at our home . Our hearts are heavy that we lost a dog Angel last month and now our Pretty Girl. Too much pain .
