The use case for polycam is actually pretty nice. You typically won’t use it too often to display random 3D stuff from others in your space but Polycam can also capture items or rooms with you LiDAR Scanner in the iPhone. So you could capture a room or furniture with your iPhone (for example in a store) and then place it in your home to check how it fits there before buying. Really looking forward to stuff like this with Vision Pro

Polycam is really great at room scanning and sharing (on iPhone). We use it a bunch for home projects, being able to check a measurement or orientation of something while we’re at the store getting supplies.

I am curious how this product works at night, from kinda dark to very dark. Can it track in dark, or even pick up hand gestures?

Does it have IR illuminators? If so then yes it will work.

Actually you can just buy one for the room and that should do the trick as well. Nobody can see the Light but the cameras should pick it up.

Will alert you if it's too dark and can't see your hands. Still works, just a bit finicky.

I've used it in a pitch black room with no tracking issues, but as others have said your hands will not occlude anything in the dark.

@@himelstechreally? I've seen a reviewer who complained that it doesn't work at all in the dark. He was in his bed, the wife wanted to sleep and he couldn't do anything in with his Vision Pro with the lights turned off. So it actually does work in the dark??

I just realized one of the companies that would benefit in having an app in Apple Vision Pro is Simulon. They do realtime light transport simulations of 3D models, with the iPhone they can place 3D objects in space and they'll interact with the light and be physically accurate. With this I imagine you could place an object and it could feel like the object is actually there. Could be cool concept if you want to spruce up the space.

Thank you for sharing! I am pretty excited about 3D applications and Possible 3D Development for Apple VisionOS. I really enjoyed your living room environment, the plants are a real nice touch. My favorite app was the 3D puzzle. I would totally have a blast with 3D puzzling if I had Apple VisionOS! I am looking forward to invest in more VR this year! Still researching the technology, development and potential I could utilize for multitasking, and software application program development!

What happens if you change the lighting around the f-1 car? Let's say you manipulate the car outside during the sunny day, would the shading of the car change?

What I want to know is can we use the persona scanning to scan an environment too? That would be dope. To scan an environment and being realistic and walk around with the Vision Pro

FYI the hand-tracking feeling delayed is due to the hand-tracking being limited to 30hz on Apple Vision Pro (so it's not really something the devs can account for) which is really low considering that passthrough and the headset run at 90hz. As a result, it will feel sluggish. Hopefully that's something that can be variably increased with future visionOS updates

Vr is like the days of the old mobile phone games where drinking out of your iphone (ibeer) and other wacky and strange things were coming out. Anyone else remember that? VR is in that phase right now.

Can you please do a video talking about comfort and eye strain? Particularly how many hours you can use it for in a single session, and how your eyes feel after extended use?

I think YMWV. For me, I find the single strap quite comfortable (I have to fiddle too much with the double strap and can never get it just right) and have worn it all day and late at night with no issues. But that is my personal experience and maybe I'm just lucky.

I’m a big Apple guy and really enjoyed the Apple Store Vision Pro demo. It motivated me to buy the very affordable Quest 3. Gameplay is great and abundant and haptic feedback from the controllers is very good. The user interface and resolution of the screens is nowhere near as nice as Vision Pro, but very fine for game play. In a few years, I’ll decide which product meets my needs for price, user interface, apps, and gameplay.

Question, is the hand interaction have any sort of touch haptics or is it very visually intuitive? It looks like really smooth control accessibility which is a big feature I am interested with this new Apple Product.

You may have mentioned this but is there a big difference between the passthourgh and the recording? I think the quest had complaints like that.

I would say actual passthrough feels about 80% of the quality of passthrough recordings.

Is the vision pro puzzling Places version some special version? It looked like the pieces sort of automatically aligned with and snapped to the model making it a ton easier?

I noticed that as well. I’m making my way through the first 3 puzzles and wondering if it goes to the more advanced version after those are done

@@himelstech dunno, I have been doing them at the max amount of pieces to make it last longer, but it would have been a lot easier if all the pieces would have positioned themselves correctly. But just like a real puzzle I think the challenge is to try to turn them around to figure out where they go

This version is basically a tech demo. It's missing most of the features of the Quest version. Hopefully the devs update it as it really is one of the best VR games out there.

Is the quest 3 a good entry headset? I tried AVP at the store and it’s great even if kinda uncomfortable to me. But I want to own one and not pay that much first.

Yes. You can do a lot more on it not being restricted to the apple eco system. Native games VR/AR both, movies, 3d movies, PCVR, PC mirroring, you can sideload most android apps and just use it normally like an android device. And it's A LOT cheaper. Would i say it's comfier, depends, it's lighter. Passthrough quality sucks on it though so don't expect that to be at the same level as the vision, and the screen resolution is 1/2 of the vision and LCD, so that won't look the same either.

yes and no. if u want a headset to get a vr experience. play games an stuff than yes absolutely. its a lot better in that and has a lot more and better games. but if u are looking for a comparable experience to the vision, meaning all the ar/ passthrough stuff, the immersiveness of the environments, using it a bit more like a virtual computer so on than no. it just doesnt have the apps the screen is much lower quality making reading harder and the passthrough just isnt usable other than just looking what happens around u quickly. from my experience most ppl just stop using their headsets after 2 weeks so think about if u buying it just for the novelty or actually plan to use it a lot. that going for both headsets.

Don't drop 3500 on your first headset ... Quest is more then fine and better app ecosystem. It also works on a gaming PC for steam VR and high graphics games. But if you're looking for a replacement for monitors in a home office nothing is quite there yet but you will have an easier time reading text on the AVP and your hands wont warp as much in pass through. If you really want an AVP I'd wait a gen or 2 for the ecosystem to flesh out, the price to come down and for them to offer a freaking controller option

@@CaptainMarder At least 90% of Quest owners are not going to jump through the hoops required to sideload apps on a Quest headset. For all practical purposes, it’s as closed an ecosystem as Apple’s.

One thing no one has touched on yet is the nausea. I have a hard time with vr and would like to know how the AVP advances this deal breaking side effect of vr

Slow latency is the primary cause of nausea. You eyes see a delayed reaction of the realtiy and your brain gets confused. VSP has very very low latency which goes far in eliminated that problem for most people. I have been wearing this thing for hours each day for 2 weeks with no hint of nausea.

it would be interesting to see what we cannot do yet on the vision pro. E.g. I heard there is no youtube app, so what's the workaround? is there google chrome or google maps? Also Can you use social media apps on it? How different is it from using your phone/computer? Another idea: Since it is using cameras, can it be used in the dark? How dark does it need to be? E.g. can you use it outside after it is dark? Do you have to be in the apple ecosystem to use it? If you have an android and an Asus computer will it still work? Could be a nice title "Does Apple vision pro work with non-Apple products?" and then all the advantages for combining it with apple products.

There's a 3rd party app for KZbin that's $5. No Google apps at all yet but I'd assume they'll be supported in the next few months. It can be used in pitch black but your hands won't occlude any virtual screens when it's dark. It kinda works outside of Apple but I wouldn't recommend getting one if you're not already in the Apple ecosystem.

Does the Apple Vision Pro suffer from the Mura effect like the PSVR 2 does? Screen recordings don't capture the Mura effect and it would be a massive dealbreaker to me if I'm gonna be using it for watching movies etc. For playing games on the PSVR 2 it's acceptable, but not for watching movies etc.

lol its funny, as you said "NOPE" and sony makes both of the lenses...mura effect on its own device, but none on avp with sony made lens lol...why couldnt sony use the same lens for there own device?@@himelstech

respectively its not for you...its for people who are ahead in life. let me ask you? if you had your home payed off, car payed off...and you make over 60k a year...after the bills you still have soooo much disposable income left over cause no mortgage, no car note...wouldnt you spend 4k tax included for AVP? what else do you do with your money? how do you enjoy it if your not gonna spend it? thats the audience apple is aiming towards to. you know you would buy it as well if you were that kind of person.

Kind of ironic when almost all of these apps could be found on other headsets. And the one that didn’t didn’t really add much. Which of these apps adds value to those that are ahead in life. I can think of a ton of other stuff to put my money into, like a 4k pc with a 4090 gf card and a Quest 3 for instance

@@complicated2359 and i would know nothing about that lol so im happy your gifted in being a developer but i assume you have a Home/car paid for? or close to it... im just a regular person i dont need it at all..i got it just for fun...maybe i think you should get it for that. enjoy watching crystal clear movies on a super big screen an enjoy the upcoming apps/environments to come. how i look at it. but for me personally i have nothing else to buy in this world, after those two big hurdles, soi just add this to my collection..i think even as a dev you should too for the fun aspect!
