Duralumin is type of aluminum developed around WW1 for use in airships(Zepplins). It has a few extra elements such as chromium and copper added to increase strength and hardness; alongside being more expensive. The control plate is unlikely to be Duralumin, but it makes a nice bit of ad copy to help distinguish it from everyone else.

It's a cool guitar for sure and it sounds great but my favorite part about all your vids is your playing. You can always tell which guitars you like the most by your expressions while you play and how much more you play it. The laugh at the end of this one tells everyone how much fun it was to play. Great stuff!

It has excellent hardware and electronics for sure, and I love when they take the time to roll the edges and make the neck comfortable because the "feel" of the neck is a huge factor when choosing a guitar for me. It would be a tough decision though to spend that kind of money on a new brand without having the chance to play it first. Returning the guitar for any reason would be expensive and time consuming if for any reason I didn't like it.

I noticed this when Dovydas reviewed a model they sent him last October : the luthiers that are behind Valiant appear to be the luthiers that were working for/(partners in?) Universum. Vadim and Dima (short for Dimitri) Gavrilenko If they left, bravo for starting over.
@valiantguitars90293 жыл бұрын
Correct, same 2 brothers, they were really disappointed with whole business after Universum, Universum was a big disappointment to all, first "serious" Ukrainian brand and all, what owner of Universum did not understand, that you should respect the guy who is actually making your guitars with his own hands, my luthiers are full partners, that would be stupid to ignore their opinion and sabotage relationships within the company, just because I do not like this or that color, or something along those lines...so, yeah, thank you for your comment, and support of the channel!

"Duralumin was developed by the German metallurgist Alfred Wilm at Dürener Metallwerke AG. In 1903, Wilm discovered that after quenching, an aluminium alloy containing 4% copper would slowly harden when left at room temperature for several days. Further improvements led to the introduction of duralumin in 1909." (Wikipedia)

What I'm wondering is why should I buy one of these over a silver sky or a fender American for that price. I think there missing the market just alittle, I would do 1500, but anything over 2grand is a big investment. Not saying there guitar aren't killer, but if I'm spending 2000 I'm going for a silver sky, or a custom 24, just my opinion, I prefer alder guitar, there always Brite and snappy. But I also prefer single coils, seeing I mostly play hellbilly type music. I would have to try one to buy it.

Being a bass player, I'm more a $79-$99 dollar 6 string guy, but that guitar seems sweet. The problem is, most guys wanting to spend that kind of money on a guitar are going to want to put it into something that they're sure they can get their money back out of if they need to. I think it'll take a while for them to build market confidence. Hopefully they can withstand the slow build-up time while continuing to make really nice guitars. If, due to lack of funds, their quality wanes, then their market will drop and they are doomed.
@ChrisEck133 жыл бұрын
I think you're right on. I commented something similar. I know I can get my money back or more for my Gibsons but there's not $2500 on the used market for a made in the Ukraine guitar that no one has heard of is a tough sell and I think you'd be lucky to get half that.

I love the look of this guitar! jazzmaster, reverse firebird style body. Love the color choices. That antique sunburst with the relic looks very nice! Brass like saddles are a nice touch, but for the cost they should be brass! The handshake comfort carve near the neck plate is very similar to the esp ltd te-202 tele guitars. Chrome or nickle covered humbuckers makes everything pop. Love bareknuckle pu's! The headstock is ok. Nothings better than a fender headstock anyways so cant fault them for that. Neck relic looks good too and unique choice of fretboard inlay. At first glance i think the price is a little high for this guitar but... If your looking for something different than a fender custom shop its not a bad way to go. Just saying so far i see a $1,500-$1,700 guitar not $2,500. You can tell this maker has been around the block though. All guitar friendly choices through and through.! I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if the price comes down a little! Totally my style! Great review Phil! Awesome geetar! Rock on!!

This is about the same price of a Les Paul Standard and I know they're completely different guitars but $2500 is a lot of money. If times got tough and I that to sell some guitars, I know I could get as much, or more, from my Gibsons as what I paid for it. I think it would be hard to sell a guitar like this for even half price on the used market. I'm not saying it's not worth the money but $2500 for a made in the Ukraine guitar that no one has heard of is a tough sell.
