"Heilung makes you homesick for somewhere you've never been and nostalgic for a life you've never lived." is an amazing quote I've seen mentioned. Me, their music makes me remember roaming ancient woods. I don't know when or where, but it's clear in my mind when I listen to them.

Heilung is so great. It is my escape music when the real world gives me anxiety. Greetings from Finland.

I'd so like to see them live sometime. The atmosphere in the venue must feel amazing. Sadly, so far I missed them whenever they played in the area. One day. 😊 I believe they once said in an interview that they used their own blood to paint signs on their drums to create a special bond to their instruments. And that they add volunteer "musicians" to the group on tour, which must be a memorable experience for the chosen ones.

It would be really amazing to see them live. If I ever see that they're in the area I'm definitely going to take that opportunity ("in the area" is a wide term seeing that I travelled from Norway to Berlin for Avi Kaplan)

A nice reaction to an awesome song! - "Ancient Germanic" would be the "ethno-historic" background for everything Heilung does - might automatically trigger "Vikings" as an association but older, far older. It's resonating with me, but I'm into this stuff anyway. You can jump forward some roughly 600 or so years and see how this was all still around e.g. in the "Merseburger Zaubersprüchen", magic incantations from *early christian* Germany still referencing the Old Gods - things survive, even unto today with the significance of the "Walpurgisnacht". The old magicks don't simply die out, they continue and still permeate society in unexpected ways. I'd advice checking out "Walpurgisnacht" by Faun to get a feel for this, but weirdly "Tanz in den Mai" by Dartagnan (and you can see it in the video) will resonates with the same background and of course Heilung touches on the most remote origins. Best regards Raoul G. Kunz

Native nordic is correct, but not Sami. It's Germanic.. They mix elements from the Nordic Bronze age which spawned the Germanic culture, with elements from the Nordic Viking age, and everything in between. They are not ment to be taken as historical correct, but rather amplifies history and mix the many Nordic time epocs.
