Thanks for an amazing review Raborn and you covered the different categories so well, thank you. You almost did it right recording the XY, it can be a bit tricky at first, but it's click record → hit a key → move the control. Then it works, but if you hit the key first and then record after, then it won't work. Thanks again though! Brilliant review. *thumbsup*

It's all too rare, but I really appreciate it when a developer keeps improving an already great library. This is exactly what Lunaris 2 does. It takes one of the best synth pad instruments you can buy and adds even more, both samples and a better interface. Great stuff Luftrum and big up Raborn for a quality review.

It’s unusual for the analog synth sounds to be emulated so well in Kontakt. Well done!

I never get sick of hearing the sounds from Lunaris (1 & 2... I'm waiting for Lunaris 3.. 4.. 5 etc)... as a pad libraries go, I don't think you beat Lunaris...

Very clear explanation. :) I have two questions. 1. If I understand well, the samples from Lunaris 1 are included, but not the presets from L1 themselves? 2. What about loading times? I read it can take a while?
@Luftrum1
@Luftrum1 Жыл бұрын
I can answer that. 1. Yes, all sound sources from the original Lunaris are available in Core Pads L1 and then we added twice as many brand-new sound sources availbale in Core Pads L2. Some presets from the original Lunaris are recreated, but the majority are fresh content and there are 480 presets in Lunaris 2 with more to come. 2. Correct. The presets don't load instantly. There's a lot going on under the hood, and the more active layers, the longer the loading time, 2-6 seconds per preset are not uncommon. We are working on implementing a "loading progress bar" because as it is now Lunaris 2 just locks up / freezes during preset load, and that's not optimal. This is our priority, and hopefully, with the introduction of the "loading progress bar" we will see if we can improve preset loading times as well.

@@Luftrum1I’m such a geek, I just did the math: factoring the loading in it’d take about 2 hours to audition every preset (assuming about 10 seconds of auditioning each). That’s not a complaint btw haha. What a smorgasbord of beautiful sounds :)

While it's cool and all and I love Luftrum, I just really don't understand the point of 95% of Kontakt synths. Just use Diva/Zebra/Hive/whatever. Luftrum has a lot of great Zebra presets themselves. It's just "more of the same" with Kontakt.

I agree.For the longest time I refused to buy into the whole thing (it helped that I'm not a fan of NI and I find the whole UX rather hideous). Eventually I bought Lunaris (v1) first, which gave me a relatively low price for Kontakt itself. And yes, I love designing sounds in Pigments, Dune3 or Vital, but it's also true that some Kontakt libraries will give you sounds that are entirely their own, really quite unique. So, while not a fan of Kontakt, I did become a fan of Rhythmic Robot, Hollow Sun, small independent soundmakers like these, producing awesome, surprising, quaint little one-of-a-kind gems. So that's the saving grace. And Lunaris itself, like anything from Luftrum, is a work of masters.

I can see your point, but I think the idea behind Kontakt synths is that they take a more rompler approach. It's just a different idea and often results in a more complex sound; for example Lunaris effectively has up to 4 'presets' that can be from 4 different analogue synths. Also the samples here are (I am pretty sure) direct from hardware so you have to contrast that to a digital soft synth sound (although these days they can get damn close). Add to that the ability to add your own synth source or other sample, impossible in the synths you mention, and you start to see how different it really can be. Neither is 'the best', it's just giving us more flavour or synth to choose from I think.

i came here to say the same thing. diva/repro/zebra/hive/etc could make all of theses patches but better and with full control of editing, quicker loading times, less hard disk space and cheaper. there are some amazing synths you can buy for peanuts and always on sale from g-force, cherry audio, etc, they all sound better. this library and others like it just dont make sense
