looks cozy and nice to have extra air and a screen for no bugs. I think your window screens are super cool too.

I've looked at tailgate tents like yours on Amazon. It would be a plus if they would put a magnetic opening in the netting instead of the zipper so you could get in and out faster. I'm also looking at some tailgate tents that add a tented "room" onto the back of the SUV. It's good to look at many videos of the various options. Thanks for the video!

I’ve seen those tents as well and do like the room they provide 😊

So happy you've got this new gizmo (is that the right word LOL) ... very cool! No bugs!!!! I won't be a bit surprised to see you doing one of those 24-hour solo in the rain millions-viewed videos any week now (like are so popular in Korea, etc.) and your food will be so much more enticing!! I'm sure boiled firm tofu is filled with nutrients, and easy to make in a tent, but .... Congrats on moving forward in getting outdoors in new ways. Good for you!!! God bless!

David, Awsome upgrade! You should be able to relax under shade throughout the day: even when raining. As you mentioned, your still figuring out the stakes/poles Recommendations for your consideration: 1. Think of pitching tent to shed water. Slope the awning downward towards low side of camp site while removing the center sag between poles. Also that awning has 2 D-rings at the top of the zippers where you could further pitch the awning out laterally to promote a better pitch and water shed.. Good luck and thanks for sharing. I like that setup for my SUV camping setup. Take care

David, thanks for the review, I might have to pick one of these up. You might try putting the stakes at more of a 45-degree-ish angle from the awning poles and maybe another foot or so away so that you get less sag in the middle. I bet setup time will be much quicker after installing it a couple more times.

OMG! I answered this earlier this afternoon. I don't see my response. I have seen these enclosures with bigger living areas that you would be able to leave standing if you want to drive your car somewhere. I'm sure they are a lot more expensive. But I think you are on the right track. I just want to see you back in your Class A again! HUGS~Donna

I like your new set-up, especially in the summer or if it’s raining. We went tent camping for years with our kids, until we got a pop-up. It was just 2018 that we bought a travel trailer.

Hi David have you looked into the little teardrop camper/trailers? I dont think they are very expensive, sleep 1 or 2, and the back folds out with an outdoor "kitchen". Also, can you give us an update on your RV?

Never knew this existed. I might have to look into it. I've wanted an awning for my roof rails, but the car is too low to the ground. It's nice that it connects to the hatch for that extra height.

Thanks for the video. I loved the island music you picked. Maybe this is a dumb question: Does leaving the tailgate up all night run down your car battery?
@RVJedeye2 жыл бұрын
Sherri not a dumb question at all. There is not a lot of drain with that light when it’s open. I’ve seen some folks use a climbing hook to put in the tailgate latch to trick it so I may try that😊

I saw that on your car in the last video and wondered when you were going to mention it. Did you have to do something to the tailgate switch so that leaving it open wouldn't put a draw on the car battery?

Haven’t done anything yet, read it doesn’t do much to the battery. I’ve seen some folks put a climbing clip in the tailgate 😊

Hi there! I think the KZbin algorithm sent me a video because I watched this one of yours recently ... but I wanted to share it with you because the lady has a very similar if not identical tailgate tent and she has some tricks you might find helpful. Like the flags she attaches to the tent ropes. At first I thought this was some girly thing, then I realized they help to prevent tripping over the lines in the dusk or dark. She also has some cool light gizmos and things. Her channel only has around 5 videos, don't know why it popped up - maybe that info helps you in some way? Channel is Allison Cobb, video is "solo car camping at Blythe Island Park" and video link = kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHyTgIaDg5mel9k&ab_channel=AllisonCobb
