Do you feel the 60/40 is enough power say id be adding probably 2 passengers and a 24v trolling motor just wondering if I should look for a 90hp while trying to buy a boat?

Great question. If you have seen the boat we were using in previous videos, its a 40hp with a jet pack on a 15ft flatbottom. It has done very well with that amount of horsepower on the Rio Grande. Having said that, the 60/40 on a 16ft has proven to be very nice. It has better reverse and way better throttle response. It's been working very well. Now it's not a speed demon by any means but with 4 guys in the boat all over 200lbs, it's doing about 30mph top end. I wasn't really concerned about speed though, I went with a 60hp more for weight. I didn't want to have a heavier engine for more horsepower in the case that if we do happen to beach the boat on a sandbar, its going to be easier to get it back on the water. Because I wont always have 4 guys with me, I wanted something still light enough to manage if I were alone or with someone else. Hope that helps with your decision and if not please ask more q-tions and I will try and answer them. Thanks

@@KTDELRUS Thx for the quick reply lol yea that was my concern but sounds like a 60/40 is the ticket me. Also thinking about fuel consumption and being able to get it unstuck now just have to find a reasonably priced boat dang things are hard to find in Indiana

@@henrycoleman5715 It took me a while to find the 60hp Yama in Texas as well, had to drive to Louisiana to get a decent buy. I had the motor probably 5 months before getting the boat. Fuel wise, I'm running 2 six gallon tanks and I can get about 18 miles on 6 gallons. Now if you went with a 4 stroke a little heavier motor but WAY better fuel consumption! In my case with the steering up front and the weight evened out, I probably could have went with a 60hp 4stroke and it would of been fine. But then again I was worried about total weight. I think in my case with the way the boat is set up, the 4stroke would of been just fine. Although I also heard that the jet packs perform better with the high RPM of a 2stroke vs. the 4stroke. So that was also a deciding factor.
