2008 was the same year I first took interest in the Challenger as well. I was 20 then and without a job but I had to have it someday. I remember dragging my mom to the local Dodge dealership in 2009, after one of her chemo treatments, and I told her I will get one someday. I'll never forget those days. This T/A is definitely nice and I like this subtle chill style of review. Can't wait to see you do a Hellcat!

I for 1 love the actual "shaker-hood" of your car! I have owned the 1969 GTX with a 440/6 pack 4 speed that had a shaker hood scoop! Yea It's not a standard hood but didn't care either! It was that hood scoop shaken that I loved so much!

Work Play Drive: so I sell these myself here in Chicago and I'm really torn between 2 cars. We have an unbadged T/A 392 2018. Its granite exterior with black satin hood which is just gorgeous, its set up like the Hellcat in the same package. But the new 2018 Charger daytona 392 we have in Octane Red with all satin black hood, again unbadged is...well....starting to make me think twice...the way this car drives is completely different and its a smidge lighter and a lot more nimble, so when it comes to control and driving, this charger is kinda making me think a different direction.
@WorkPlayDrive7 жыл бұрын
I've heard from a lot of people the charger has some more controlability due to it's more stable wheel base. For me my love for the body and styling of the challenger made my decision very easy.
@mikereed49637 жыл бұрын
Nice job, I have to agree with you on the Challenger, I was always a GM guy owning many in the last 17 years, 3 Z06's and 2 CTS-V Caddys. Plus others. In 2015 when I looked at both a new Z and V to replace my '12 CTS-V coupe I was shocked at the 100K plus prices. I wandered down the road to the local Dodge dealer and found a red SRT 392. Took it out for a test drive and never looked back. Love at first drive. The car for the price was unbelievable, less than half of the GM cars on the road. Than at the beginning of the '17 model year my dealer had a leftover new '16 Hellcat that they knocked 8K of the 73K sticker. I wanted to keep both of them and still wished I did. But needless to say I am very, very happy with the HC. I agree these cars are unbelievable for the money and I still like as much today as the day I picked it up. FCA keep up the great work and the many choices that are available in the Challenger. Keep making those videos.

Love the videos but as a heads up to anyone interested, I purchased my Go Mango T/A 392 in April and I love it but there's ones thing I would do immediately. The hood is painted not vinyl like the rest of the car, vinyl wrap the hood immediately! Because the satin paint scratches like no other.
@WorkPlayDrive7 жыл бұрын
Isn't the hood painted similar to the Hellcat Satin hood. Many of my club members have had great success with Ceramic coating on the satin hood to protect it from scratches.

It is the same paint on the hood, if you follow the proper cleaning protocol its fine. I was scared to death of it when I bought mine but so far so good. You can get the satin painted hood ceramic coated using a different coating than what you have on the rest of the car. Its an option I am looking at doing with mine soon as I am still scared of scratching it even if I do the right thing! lol

Ok here is the reason I do not like the T/A. The only difference between that and my 2017 scat pack is the wheel tires and breaks. All of which can be upgraded with ease. It is nice that the intake box is sealed but there are many other options out there. As to the head lights, as you know adding on the mopar headlight tube adds the best source for ram air (mine is an RT hood not shaker). I just don't see the real price increase for the options when you get all the way down to it. The Scat Pack is an awesome car to shave some of the money off the top and build as you need it. Not saying that it isn't a good looking package but I don't see the value in it.

Great job of contrasting the differences to the Scat Pack! IMO black color TA is least favorable color as you can't see the TA stripes/badges or the black hood, top & rear deck contrast as on the other colors unless you are up close to the vehicle. Yellow Jacket & White Knuckle colors look the best in a TA as the contrast really stands out in an excellent way from a distance. I also love the TA but after looking at several TAs sitting on a local dealer's lot all summer & comparing to the Scat Pack, the Scat Pack is a much better deal (cheaper) for what you get & it's arguable that it looks just as good and/or better. Also, some TA 392s have > MSRPs than the SRT 392 which is crazy as the SRT 392 is much better equipped (suspension & adjustable driving modes, dual clutch & leather seats option in multiple colors). Alcantara seats may look & feel better (to some) but it's very difficult to clean & maintain. I'll take leather all day & not look back. If I were buying new, I'd get a Scat Pack as it's the best deal for what you can get & still looks great. IMO Dodge should have included the SRT suspension, dual clutch & leather seats in multiple colors as options on the TA 392. Peace....
@WorkPlayDrive7 жыл бұрын
Agreed when yo lay out the packages the best deal is the Scat Pack, however the add-ons for the T/A, the appearance and the demand do justify the cost. Agreed the Pitch Black T/A does display the least amount of contrast, but it is a good option for people who enjoy subtle changes.
@vnishpt70367 жыл бұрын
A pretty much loaded Scat Pack (including Dynamics pkg.) is approx. $3K less MSRP than a similarly optioned TA 392 so would have to disagree the exterior differences justify that cost. The interior is the same except minor differences for the logo on the front seats & the white color gauges (which I do prefer over SPs) so differences are generally exterior appearance related. SP Dynamics pkg. also includes the 16 Hellcat wheels which IMO look better than the TA wheels. In substance, Dodge didn't have to do much for the price increase other than satin black paint & side stripes (as the hood is the SRT 392s). The TA is unique enough to warrant its own unique hood (more akin to the 1970 version) so IMO Dodge should not have gone cheap on that by using the SRT 392 hood. Memo to Dodge: Give the TA its own unique hood & scoop & add an option for the applicable SRT 392 features mentioned in my original reply & you have one badass car. Until then, I'll take the Scat Pack & invest my $3K savings. Peace...

I have same wheels on my 2016 charger scatpack but yours look black to me in video
@WorkPlayDrive7 жыл бұрын
you nailed in in your other comment mine are true black
@alecfawvor24567 жыл бұрын
Im stuck between a lightly used scat pack or a new 5.7 T/A+
@alfredoserralles53965 жыл бұрын
Get the scatpack and add T/A badges and T/A hood to it so you will add more muscle to it...

It's a nice car but I routinely see them in the rearview mirror of my 1987 Buick.

Great video 👍. Only I was waiting for you 2 to try out the back seat 😉. I mean, does it have the same leg room as the other Challengers?

The hood is more like the 70 AAR Cuda hood
@Truckpartswizard7 жыл бұрын
Is that aar hood?
@WorkPlayDrive7 жыл бұрын
It looks pretty close right?

The stickers are cheesy the 3 had we air bubble in it
@mcm954036 жыл бұрын
YES! It SHOULD have a REAL T/A hood, not the AAR Cuda hood that it currently has.

What a shjtty car, the hood can't even stay in place, they have too included some nasty rubber band to hold it down. I prefer a PRIUS.

When are they going to make something that isn’t a challenger
@WorkPlayDrive6 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of talk about bringing back the 'Cuda, but IMO the challenger is a great body to build on.

The T/A was a hell of a car to drive. She has some violent power. I had a joy driving it for this video.
