Yea lol, either through videos or steam itself, I recently discovered a pretty big load of recent games similar to rimworld. In some way, I guess you could say that all these games and rimworld aswell all hapenned because of Dwarf Fortress, since Rimworld was originally inspired by that game. But it looks like this genre is being more popular and recognized because of Rimworld, love it.

it's more i think dwarf fortress is the ultimate beginnings of colony simulators, but rimworld definitely paved the way for it

@@joosii3673 Yeah, Dwarf Fortress was progenitor of the genre, but for most people it was overly clunky and not intuitive. Rimworld is way more user friendly

The micro economy aspect is compelling. Having control of the nobles addresses the meta issue in Rimworld about who's controlling the pawns. I also like the implied idea of conquering the map eventually. Wonderful review! I'll check it out.

wait, you dont make a primary pawn that controls everything? every rimworld playthrough I do always centers around one pawn being the one in control. They get the best room first, and usually spend their days in luxury.

I played the demo, and I LOVED this game! I think it's ready to release in early access.. Just keep adding more diplomatic and relationship options, more buildings, anyway, more stuff in the game. I think it has a looooot of potential And I didn't know the channel, loved the video

I will definitely play the demo for this game. I hope it gets better and improve over time. Seeing developers actively work on a game is the key into making a successful game, but I will go into any new game with a bit of skepticism. At least we get the free demo until a full release. *Finger cross*

Man these combat animations are brutal. They remind me a bit of Battle Brothers for some reason, very cool. I keep failing to create a medieval modlist that works to my liking in Rimworld, maybe it's time I give in and play a different colony sim.

Someone bought Tynan's book hahahaha Seriously though, it's great that more indie devs are exploring the style popularized by the Rimworld team, rimworld is one of my favourite games for its ingenious dynamic nature, no two games are the same. It's crazy how they so masterfully blend Stardew Valley-esque calm and soothing game play and serve-wrecking strategy in one game A blend of rimworld with a medieval setting with all the benefits the focus on this setting can bring? Can't wait!

I even managed to play this demo on my potato of a travel laptop. Really nice, though first time I tried the rescue, I hadn't even been able to add peasants (tip, train them for a few days so they aren't so afraid of dying)

The combat system is a non starter for me. I also wish it was more like Rimworld with building and control. But I get it, its not Rimworld. Thanks for reviewing it!

You can play any run you start for 15 in-game days. I think around 1.5 hours of play time depending on if you take your time or speed through at double speed

Love some of the ways they've chosen to handle certain aspects, especially the limited control. I've had similar thoughts myself. They've done a great job all around. I'm just not a fan of pre-built cookie cutter constructs and being stuck in a single era. Rimworld and other open-ended games with a broad spectrum of possibilities have spoiled me forever, I'm afraid.

Totally agree about the cookie cutter buildings and capped era. However, not all games can be as open ended as rimworld-dare I say, very few games can! Just like how no foods are as perfect as stuffed crust pizza, which I could eat every day, but occasionally I’m in the mood for something else 😂

I see what you mean about the overall layout for sure, but I feel like the "colonist bar" (in this game, nobles) along the top and the left-side inventory are really the only direct similarities between RimWorld's UI and this one. UI related to building, research, fighting, and so forth are all rather different--there is very little text whereas RimWorld is pretty text heavy. The creation of bills is also somewhat similar (not shown in this video) but I have yet to encounter a game with any sort of bill-system that doesn't look that way. I think it's the character design that makes it look so much like RimWorld at first

I would like to see more demos from you, I enjoyed this video. I also had a blast playing Norland, I am intrigued where they go with this game. I had a rival noble come over and seduce my brother... AND my bishop. She pretty much literally went from the bed of one, to the other. I had to bribe, I mean reward, my brother so he'd stay loyal to me and not some random teenage hussy. As an aside, "Norrland" is a (rather large) region in Sweden. It means what you might think it means, Northland or the Northern Land. Seems pretty close to Norland so I'm guessing that's where they took the name from!

played the demo it's amazing . they only need to fix some tweaks small ones on the other hand it's really amazing . next update we need like castle walls and lots of customizations that's all and of course mods
