Have just bought this exact strimmer and it's a real upgrade from the Bosch strimmer I had for years which you could not turn the end bit like this one can to make it vertical. Also the Bosch only used the plastic blades but I found they wore out really quickly. I will stick to using the spool and see how that goes.

Bought one of these a while back, as I also had begun the journey into the Ryobi Multiverse! But only just searched to see whether there was an alternative to the line - hubby comments he's seeing little bits of blue plastic everywhere (why not invent biodegradable line RYOBI!?). I recently purchased the same model and am quite impressed. A couple of suggestions whilst using it. 1- Don't have animals or children in the near vicinity especially when using it as an edger. 2 - wear long trousers, enclosed boots or shoes and safety glasses.

How long does the trimmer work with the 1.3Ah Battery and the 5Ah Battery? 10Min, 20Min or longer?

Thats a difficult question to answer, as it will depend how hard the strimmer is having to work. Most of the time I pop a 4Ah battery in mine, and would strim around 50 meters of edging of simple grass (so not hard work) and it doesn't even knock a light off the 4Ah battery. Not sure if this helps, but unless you are strimming a big / dense area a 5Ah would keep going for a while. The main issue with the smaller battery, will be slightly less ooommmph to handle thicker grass areas.

Got one of these but it won't turn on. Is there some safety or other thing to be mindful about? I press both buttons on the grip

The button on the back of the grip is the safety switch, then the standard trigger to operate. Sounds like you may need to try another battery, or the unit is faulty.
