Great video mate. I own 3 Vintage brand guitars. I can tell you….as a Gibson LP/ ES-139 player, my Vintage V100 and V500 series guitars absolutely impress me. All they need is a very good set up, and you’re ready to roll.

I recently bought the V62 relic version and slightly yellow with satin finish throughout and absolutely love it! I believe guitars are getting cheaper myself as the glut of new guitars and used music stores are fully stocked lately (results of the economy and start of the "pandemic purge" has begun. Cheers!

Its a weird balance because theres equal pressure at the moment of things driving guitar price down (reasons you mentioned) aswell as equal pressure of things driving them up.

I have had one of these for about 4 years, it's lovely to play, but could stand an upgrade on the electronics. I bought a quality wiring loom with CTS pots, braided wire and a good Oak Grigsby switch, this layout also adds a fourth switch position, which is the bridge and neck in series configuration, like a humbucker. It made the guitar more flexible from a tones point of view and improved the sound quite a bit. The only criticism I can make of mine is that the tuners are not the best, a bit stiff to operate, but the guitar stays in tune no problem, it's rock solid.

Vintage guitars are unbelievable bang for your buck, i have a v100 and the v6 hendrix strat. I have had some vintage guitars in the past that got sent back for the pickups cutting out due to the electronics, if they improved the wiring and used cts pots, orange caps etc these guitars would be unbeatable at this price point and I'm sure customers wouldn't mind paying the extra £50-£60 for the better electronics. The wilkinson hardware is flawless at doing what its supose to do and wilkinson pups are brilliant!! Awesome guitars once setup, guitar for life!!

Your so right, and yano what i dont know why they dont do that just to really cement themselves and get the respect among players back for good. I upgrade peoples guitars all the time to CTS pots and better caps and it really doesnt cost that much.... Thanks mate. I bought a V62 ($750 AUS) and still watch the reviews sometimes to cement my decision. I think it's pretty good but I think I suffered from the period of laxness in quality you were rambling about. It was not set up well when I got it - buzzes, plus a string-snagging fret. Plus the paint job was (literally) half done. Bought the last one In Australia before covid. Sounds sweet and classic on the neck, really bright on the bridge. Some tone handling is needed. Hardware is solid.
@Paul-D2 жыл бұрын
I still rate them as great guitars, but the ramble is always needed when discussing vintage guitars. I have had to be the one to make sure there right when anyones got one through me. But still, once there right i think they stand for a great guitar that can last years, a cheap upgrade of the pots is always welcomed by the stock pups too. Thanks for stopping by

Just discovered your channel while looking for Vintage gtrs reviews. Just wondering if you're able to comment on how the neck on the v62 compares to the v52, and how they both compare in relation to a Classic Vibe. I have a Classic Vibe but I find the neck strains my hand. I've no problem with Squire Strats, but there's something with the Vibe's neck that doesn't suit my hand. I'm thinking of selling it to get a Vintage, but unsure whether to go for a v52 or v62. Ta.
@Paul-D2 жыл бұрын
Came to the right place lots of experience with CVs and these vintage guitars 😁 So the V62 and V52 have very different necks aside from one being maple and the other rosewood* The 62 is much more 60s fender like and the 52 is much fatter. The classic vibe necks from about 2015/16 onwards got alot slimmer for some reason and i too really dont get on with those. The original ones were much better.

@@Paul-D think I need to try out both the v52 and v62 if they've got different feeling necks. Just don't know of a Vintage dealer in my town.

@@wvo2m it comes down to do you want big (v52) or just 60s fender so medium C (v62) Companies say "60s slim" etc and then use a tiny slim neck carve but real 60s strats are more medium. You wont find many real 60s strats or teles with necks as slim as the current classic vibe guitars.

Sounds really good, especially on Ohio and Le Freak :-) The problem I have with brands like these is lack of creativity. They're just copying iconic shapes and that just doesn't do anything for me at all. If I wanted a Tele (which as so happens I do) then I'll get a Squire or a Fender. I just need to find the right pre-enjoyed one at the right price first!
@Paul-D2 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude. Yeh i get what you mean, im on the side of offering something thats 8/10ths as close to the real one but much cheaper more then makes up for the lack of creativity. But only if its done right. If it only looks the same but sounds and works nothing like then thats a total fail. And in vintage case - they do have some original shapes and ideas too on other products.

@@Paul-D I do own a Vintage V6P which was a unique design Strat style body guitar with 3 P90's the guitar always stays in tune , with my V100 there is differences from Les Paul one obvious headstock , it not as bent as the Les paul it stays in tune better than a Les Paul , but 's not a Les Paul, how many people can go out drop 3000 grand on a Les Paul issue with Vintage has been qc but it's great to see they are starting to address that, but I agree both my Vintages will get upgrades on the electronics, the V100 has those tiny pots, and cheap wiring that will be upgraded and the V6P the M Series Stacked Wilkinson P90's are the cheaper Chinese made ones they sound okay but there is obvious room for improvement, but with this Telecaster I would upgrade the wiring , pots and switch, it's about cutting back on costs when your in this market, , I still love Vintage guitars , very happy with both of my Vintage guitars
@DavyWayne132 жыл бұрын
I think it’s less a case of lack of creativity and more of a lack of consumer interest. A lot of these companies that offer alternatives also have their own guitar designs but there is lack of demand due to mainly people liking guitars their musical heroes use.
@alanknott3632 жыл бұрын
@@DavyWayne13 I totally agree. So many players cannot get past the iconic designs or even (in many cases) the brand name on the headstock. It's big business where you have to give the customer what they want to buy or go bust.
