I really appreciate how Nate is never condescending in his manners and communication. He really gives valuable suggestions and lets Will choose what he does with them. And Jen also when she's talking about the nesting boxes. Such positive and kind people

Nice job on the recording Jen and love that the chickens went right to you with no problem. ❤ Thank you Nate for the update/tour of Will's area. Imo having ownership of the hill sloping down to the living space would be a preference. Hopefully the neighbor considers selling it to you. Great idea about the bridge over the creek and higher ground for the vehicles just in case. Trenching also helps direct the rain run off so kudos to Will for being on top of that (and for all the work he's already done)! Having an escape route/plan is so important. There is just so much potential with this property, but then you already knew that when you bought it! Keep up the good work! 👍🏼😎

@Nate Petroski I realize he already bought the stove. But, maybe (if its not too late), tell him to call up a recycling center and look for a 55gallon steel drum, buy the wood stove door, legs & damper kit. Best choice I made! It can burn me out of my man cave. Just takes a little elbow grease. But, best thing I did for the cave (it's also uninsulated, if that says anything!). I got the kit from Tractor Supply for $60. And, the drum was $20. Already had the wall thimble (reg. cost for that was $20).. and, due to stove pipe being $20 a foot.. I did buy a 24" to go through the thimble. But, pipe leading up to it and outside is simply 6" air duct pipe, fits perfect with real stove pipe.. just make sure to burn the stove well-vented because air duct is galvonized which will put off toxins at first. One burn will do it. So, all in all.. $120 for my great stove! Then, 4 - 3" blocks to set on.. $3 each. And, temperature tape for pipe joints.. maybe $15? Cant remember? And, sand to put up to vent inside of stove. Everything was $150-$155. Very proud of it! And, sure beats an iron wood stove at $1500+ JUST for stove. Again.. this is for a man cave.. but, I'm honestly so impressed with it, I'd definitely consider building another one and putting it in my home (except, I'd definitely buy proper stove pipe. Pass this message along to WillSurvives if you will. Awesome video!

I wanna come hang out with you guys. I'm from va but my wife and I bought 20 acres with a cabin in wv and I lived off grid for 3.5 months in Spencer wv while building a house for someone in the middle of the winter a few years ago. Unfortunately my father passed in 2020 and my wife passed this year and I have been really hurting and trying to keep it together. Prepping, chopping wood, and spending time with my dog is the only thing that is really keeping me going. I love tuning in to watch what you guys are doing. It's right up my alley. Nobody out my way really gets down like this. I can't wait until I'm 100 percent WV. It's gonna be hard without my wife, it was are dream we were making happen together but I know she wouldn't want me to stop and just give up. I gotta keep going. Thanks for sharing you guys. Keep the dream alive! God bless America and God bless you all!

Even though you using direct burial cable i recommend that you use conduit or smurf tube it will give you less chances of getting damaged. Also be careful not to kink the cable at all it will definitely effect the performance of the cable, this goes for cat6 or coax cable.
@nataliej824 күн бұрын
He should pull his wire through conduit so it's protected up in the trees that will move a bunch in the wind. Add a little bit of protection for his wiring.
@mertzroofer3 сағат бұрын

A zip line coming down the hill to the homestead hut would be fun !
@pianiannie42249 сағат бұрын
What if you could run the Cat6 cable through cheap garden hoses for extra protection? The squirrels kept chewing our cable under the house so we ran it through cheap garden hoses and that helped protect the cable!
@gregf30218 сағат бұрын
If you want to save a few bucks, cat 5e UTP is fine. Your Starlink won't be fast enough to bother with the cat6. Could also get a POE access point instead of a router and just stick it in a tree, long as it's for the outdoors and only care about wifi.

Probably not the best brand but still having a spare phone charge that holds a charge ain't too shabby. The solar power setups and the eventual tie together if thats the goal, is the part im super interested in.

Has Will or Nate seen any of the KZbin coverage about hurricane Helene in NC and TN, and the landslides and flooding that happened ? Flooding is a real deal to be careful with and watching the weather and other conditions, considering the geographical area they are in . Very unlikely anything that serious can happen, but even just moderate flooding is something to really consider.
