New York City has the best food. But getting all that grub to New Yorkers is no easy task. Most of it comes from one critical point in the Bronx: the Hunts Point Distribution Center. Each year, 4.5 billion pounds of food makes its way to the city's restaurants, food stores and Bodegas.
Join Cheddar & CuriosityStream as we explore the unique histories and modern challenges, defining the future of each of New York City's one-of-a-kind infrastructure systems, in NYC Revealed.

I lived in Manhattan for fifteen years. One thing I noticed is that dairy products expired more quickly than other cities I lived in. Probably due to insufficient cooling in dairy distribution trucks. I also found the quality of the meat wasn't as good as when I lived in the midwest. However, the seafood was AMAZING!

I got 6 years in nyc. I learned that time is money. Even 10 minutes can cost you a whole job, no cap. Sometimes you gotta travel 15 miles & you're still in the city just to shop at one store, buy FOOD or whatever. Most are not willing to leave the house tbh because certain places are far & you gotta sit on the train for 90mins to 2 hours. If you're not a new yorker, you would not understand.

@@elongatedshrew5902 the connection is a reduction in wasting still edible food by recycling it to crabs farms. I've been around the world twice, visited over 20 countries, been in every major city in north america. While the food in NYC is good... New York _does not_ have the best food. Portland, Seattle, Vancouver BC have better food hands down, and some of the best food anywhere I'v been in the world (yes Paris, Rome, even you). Not just top end restaurants, but even street carts to the most run down diner and chinese place. The water quality in the Pacific North West not only makes the cooking taste better, but is also used in irrigation. Also much of the food in the PNW is local, or produced in the california central valley.

@@whatweather just wanted to point out that you don't seem to have any frame of reference for the other 15 or more countries that Lupo is claiming to have visited. Furthermore, Lupo having visited every major city in North America and parts of Europe in itself is a significant portion of the world and indicates that (depending on how spaced out the remaining unnamed cities/countries are) Lupo may very well be justified as speaking from the perspective of having been "around the world" (twice, even). While Lupo's comment might not be directly related to the point of this video, it isn't entirely unrelated either. Having said that, what is *your* point? Just to be dismissive?
