when my therapist taught me how to reframe my negative reactions into positive action it was a few days before the cultural narrative of calling psychotic rightwingers "weird" started, like a week ago, lol. since then i've had this song playing in my head on repeat, specifically the line "it's right under my nose, punching me in the face". it's what you say to yourself-- that's your insecurity, that's your impulse to charge all your thoughts and reactions negatively. my therapist (lol) said "little kids don't have to be taught to be negative, they do it naturally, being positive isn't as easy." i've been watching this play out on a massive scale and just observing my own thoughts for the last week: why are these weirdos coming out of the woodwork to be even more weird? how come when i sit at a bar and listen to the average American talk they're overcome by their hate for trans ppl, poor ppl, black ppl, anyone they perceive as weaker than themselves? why do they feel so weird?
