Nice!! I'm picking up a 82 long bed regular cab. It's been on a farm for 30+ years in the west Texas weather. Pretty solid sheet metal but needs a ton of tlc and sorting. It's getting the LS treatment. I just found your videos and will be going through them. Hope I can reach out to you for some advice in the future. Your build is awesome brother!!

Very nice. I have an extended cab I’m going to embark on restoring. Looking for all the inspo I can find. Any tips on what might be causing my reverse lights to not light up? Bulbs work, gear shifter seems loose. It’s an automatic.

Can you recommend suspension upgrade kits front and rear? As well as brake upgrades? I know you have ford rear end so not exactly what I'd be doing.. but any recs here?

I could see this channel being a money making life changer. Maybe a friend or local person is into recording and editing, and could be a partner. I could see this channel being big enough for you to build projects full time. If your into that. Thanks for showing us the build on Gumby and good luck with whatever you do....

Holy Moly! You're Alive! Right on fellow Gen1 S10 brother! Please Sir... continue the channel and show the "little stuff". Turn on the $ button! Sometimes pointing the camera in the right direction will help more than you know. Case in point: Holley headers WILL NOT fit on a Gen1 S10 frame prior to a Production year where the 4.3 L was offered. Almost willing to bank on it. Our 86 frame mods were extensive. Your "frame off" helped me (86 LS Swap) understand that Holley did NOT consider the frames were different prior to the 4.3L. Your video's CLEARLY show a difference in the Gen1 frames. Cheers... and hope you keep the channel alive. Take Care.

@Vile_90 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this comment. I've been following this man's videos and he's been super helpful with everything during my build. I have an 85 and I've been fighting the passenger side headers and now it makes sense as to why. In his video of his frame restoration. You can very clearly see where the frame is curved in for the 4.3 exhaust manifold clearance and the years prior it's definitely more blocked. Holley definitely didn't take that into consideration
@billreid11
@billreid11 Жыл бұрын
@@Vile_90 You are MOST welcome. The Holley headers FLAT OUT will not work on the early (pre-4.3L) frames without scalloping out the area on the frame to mimic a post 4.3L year frame. I don't know about you but I had problems on the drivers side too... just not as bad. I pursued this with Holley to no avail. To be clear its not the guys taking your phone calls that screwed this up... its the rookies that didn't know the Gen1 S10 in its entirety and the "engineers" and marketers that ran with it. You have to be a content expert of the Gen1 S10 to know what you can and cannot do with aftermarket "bolt in" parts. We are running the Holley (complete) motor mounts, trans cross member, headers, exhaust system, and oil pan. You MUST pound down the raised hole on the front cross member to get about ~3/16" clearance... enough to where when the motor mount poly insert indicators collapse into the mount you may still have enough clearance without wearing a hole in the pan. Tommy did one better and cut out the cross member... something we were trying to avoid. Pro Tip - raise the front of the cab and place 2X4 blocks in the front cab mounts and the engine / trans assembly goes in and out much easier. Ask me how I know 😆On a another note I really wish Tommy would have gone through (or maybe he will? 😁) how he managed to get his Ford 8.8 rear diff working. I mean setting up driveline angles to his right height... a ride height exactly what we are shooting for. I don't know what Tommy's trans angle was at ride height (on a lowered truck) but ours was at 4 degrees down... again with Holley bolt in parts. Our QP 9" diff is at 0 degrees. We go up too much more than what the trans cross member parts kit came with ( 1" spacer) and we'll be shoving the (4L60E) trans into the tunnel. Still mulling this over. We don't want to refabricate the tunnel if we don't have to. To be fair Holley does have some other nice conversion parts for the S10 that work well. Their accessory drive kits, AC Box cover, steering shaft, etc... all of which we went with. Would we go with any of the Holley ECU product line? Absolutely NOT! Not after the header debacle and them not owning up to it... let alone providing a solution. A well placed GM PCM will work... and our setup works just fine for our application. Go to Brendan's LT1Swap site for the "How To's"... of which that is how we are wiring our A/C setup. We also purchased Holley's radiator / fan kit detailed in an LS1 Tech thread which they no longer sell. Why? Because the top neck was so long it only worked for LS3 applications where the water pump connection is on the drivers side. I had to cut it down. Little things like this go can go unnoticed when reading the product description and apparently having to check its accuracy. Sorry for the long winded response😆 Peace out.
@Vile_90

@@billreid11 my drivers side fit perfectly with an even gap between the block and header and frame and header. The passenger side just lays on the frame gets worse as it's tightened.
@billreid11
@billreid11 Жыл бұрын
@@Vile_90 I could get 2 bolts somewhat started (front and back - for fitment) before all of the frame mods we wound up actually performing. Man, I wish You Tube offered ability to post response pics. The angle of the header hitting the frame versus how much angle was needed to bolt to the block (with room to spare) was HUGE. I am pleasantly surprised you didn't have any drivers side clearance issues. To be clear Tommy (as described in his vids) and I are using Holley motor mounts and a Holley trans crossmember kit. The ONLY thing different from my app to his is manual vs auto trans... with the OBVIOUS frame differences. 😄 Are you using Holley products other than the headers and if so which? If not Engine / Trans placement (including driveline angle) in your application can and will be different to what I am relating to. I say all of this in the hope that it is searchable for future Gen1 S10 LS Swap enthusiasts. Tommy did a lot of great work here... 🙂
