Your my cheer role model! Its my second year cheering for basketball on HS and I want to cheer for college when I graduate. Also my school is pretty small so there isn't a JH team so I'm in 8th grade and will be on a cheer team for HS 6 years! And we have never had boys so I've had no experience for doing the thing when boys lift with only their hands. Any advice? Love you ❤❤

Oh god, so for basketball season we have 3 captains, and im the only one on our side of the basketball hoop (we have 7 girls on each side, plus me is 8 on mine) and the girl next to me was captain last season. She has zero respect for me, and it's my first year so she of course knows more than me (from experience), but she literally hates it when i call because im "way too slow" while im waiting for the other side and two captains to respond so we go together (six feet in between me and the next captain), my side always goes faster. She literally calls them for the whole team sometimes while me and the other two are figuring out which of our 76 cheers makes the most sense to call, but since they're her friends they think its funny. Im appreciative of her HELP when it's actually HELP since she's been a captain before, but it really starts to get on my nerves when she puts on her pouty face for the rest of the quarter because "Andrew won't call the cheer I WANT TO DO".

sounds like a bitch, you should sit down and explain to her that it is not her job to do this anymore, and remind her that you are the captain. Be calm and respectful while also making sure she gets it. If it's still going on, you can talk to your coach :)

When I was in high school, there was a girl who I thought was very pretty. She was a senior, and I was a junior. So one day after I had to retake a test after school, I walked into the office where she was working. I went up to her desk, waited until she would give me her attention, looked her in the eye and said, "Hi. [pause] Can I use that phone over there?" She cleared her throat and said I could, but that I had to press some button to dial outside the school. I smiled at her and thanked her. Then she raised her eyebrows as if to tell me she knew I liked her, but that the feeling was not mutual. So afterwards I went to use the phone to call for a ride home, and she just went back to her work. Another day after school, we walked past each other in a crowd, and this time I had a more serious look and she looked at me and raised her eyebrows at me once again. It turned out that she was the cheerleader captain, though I didn't know that until I got my yearbook at the end of the school year. Meanwhile, I was practically a nobody, had a bad case of acne, didn't do too many extracurricular activities in high school, had maybe one friend and some acquaintances at most, while at the same time many of the other students either wanted nothing to do with me, were very rude and judgmental towards me, or subjected me to daily bullying/psychological warfare. And I usually sat alone at lunch unless some other people asked me to sit with them, which happened a surprising number of times. But the point is, I wasn't exactly Mr. Popular and I couldn't fit in with any group of people even if I tried, so I didn't bother talking anymore unless someone was speaking to me first. And sometimes people would complain that I never talked. I guess I just never developed good social skills. But with this particular encounter, I knew she was in a relationship and that she would not be interested in me no matter what I said or did. And that's precisely the reason I felt so confident talking to her. It's like I had nothing to lose. Even though she didn't look very pleased that I would have dared to talk to her, I never regretted it. Because the way I was thinking was that if I get a rare chance to talk to a girl I think is attractive, why should I pass it up? Then my senior year arrived. I was working as a grocery clerk at the time, and I rang up one customer who turned out to have just graduated and was on the same cheerleader squad. She smiled at me and was quite friendly to me. In one of my classes, one of the squad members gave me a pat on the back when it was apparent I wasn't in a good mental state. Some other day, another one was randomly in that same class when I was returning. She was standing at the door, but I opened it anyway. As I was walking past her, she touched my arm. Then after graduation, another cheerleader came through my line to check out. I had never talked to her before, but I knew who she was from school, so we just said "Hi" to each other. After the transaction was completed, she looked at my body, then my face and smiled. TL;DR: I had an encounter with the cheer captain in which I was overly nice, and in turn any other cheerleader on that same squad that I encountered was either very friendly to me or had some interest in me. I think they somehow found out I talked to their captain even though I didn't tell her my name. She either looked through a previous yearbook to find my picture and my name, or one of the other girls told her about me before I ever talked to her. I'll never know for sure, though; nor what, if anything, she told the other cheerleaders. So would it be a coincidence? Or is it possible that cheerleaders follow their captain's example in all aspects of that stage in their life and not just on the field, meaning if she tells them about how I talked to her, the other cheerleaders would give me that same sort of attention? I also can't help but wonder if that was just her way of getting back at me. Sorry for the wall of text. I don't know how to make this more concise.

I was a sophomore last year and the JV captain basically did nothing but start drama and used her title as popularity and I actually stepped up and helped others and had a good attitude and the team kind of treated me like captain anyway. You wouldn't have been able to tell it was her and not me (to the point where our coach would confuse us). She was just an all round bad captain and it drove me crazy that she was voted into it for both football and basketball.

We don't have cheer captains in Canada. At least not in allstar cheer in Ontario. I have met a lot of cheerleaders in school and allstar cheer, and there has never been a captain

Yeah you do it’s expensive. For my school you have to pay around $3000 but in separate payments

Hey Angelina I am in middle school and we have a captain. My first year we had a co-captain and a captain. My second we had just a captain due to drama. Your coach may decide to just have a captain or even more roles than just captain.
