Reason behind the young athletes not listening and learning is from the lack of leadership in coaching. As I former cheerleading coach and collegiate cheerleader it’s better to show and teach physically with the athletes for better performance and ability! I don’t agree with coaches and judges who are in no physical shape and form to tell and judge without having the ability to physically preform a skill let alone verbally request a skill from a athlete that they CANNOT PREFORM themselves!

ALSO, how tf are you going to sit on your ass yelling at me if you cannot execute this, or at a minimum STAND UP. As a former coach, I quit the minute I could no longer tumble as much as I wanted them to- I was aging, I was sore 🤣 but these kids need us to move with them.
@ana_am
@ana_am 2 жыл бұрын
@@esseaem1451 you can tell by looking at the coach in the black shirt, she knows what she’s doing and how to do what they’re doing. Judging by these comments a lot of these girls are regulars so I don’t think they really need the coaches to show them how to do things. It’s just the sticking they seem to be reminding them of a lot. (Just my opinion, I’m not a coach or a cheerleader just a gymnast lol)
@esseaem1451
@esseaem1451 2 жыл бұрын
@@ana_am it’s not about “needing to be shown,” it’s about not being able to teach if you can’t demonstrate. All of these girls don’t know what to do and quite frankly the majority of them aren’t executing these skills properly. When a coach is capable of doing the skill personally they can much better correct the issue.

It always killed me how the other teams had tumbling but they couldn't do simple toe touch. Yall need to have these girls doing leg raises with weights. And I promise you it will add more power to their tumbling in addition. Strong legs and core! Flexibility doesn't hurt either. And more involved coaches Edit: Ik these are just tryouts but someone needs clearly doesn't know

I understand that it’s tryouts but given that this isn’t a new gym it’s likely that majority of these athletes are returners, meaning that they are “trained” by these coaches and are showing up to tryouts with what they’ve been taught. I think your suggestions are valid.

my heart is hurting for these kids. There is zero leadership here for them. It's like they are just being barked at. I was a very serious athlete, and this is NOT how you build a team of any sort. There is such potential for lifelong strength and character. I'm so old that I still think Bobby Knight was one of the best coaches ever & he was the epitome of tough as nails and take no crap. This is the absolute opposite of anything helpful to these kids. What these adults are doing with their voices is worse than any chair ever thrown.
@JAM661
@JAM661 9 ай бұрын
Why this is a try out and not a hand holding contest. Obviously you guys think the goal of a sport is to be in last place. I do not see anyone yelling. Basically the acoustic of gym make everything sound louder and it picks up everything so there are lots of backgrounds noise especially when other are talking. Meanwhile kids are not smile tells me they are taking this a lot more serious than you do, because I guess you just think cheerleaders are supposed to just stand out there and be pretty or something. Meanwhile Bobby Knight was alway screaming at his player all the time. Also if you were a serious athlete you would know how try out work. The coaches do not spend time teaching what you are suppose to know. Meanwhile do you think when I ran track we were all smiles when we went on a 10 mile run.

To prevent an injury. It's critical to stay tight for real. The injuries that come with this is serious. They've got to be in point. Can't lag in strength or tightening up. Especially when up in the air like that. They must be beginners at this. They'll get better in time. Definetly got to be paying attention.
@StandedInUtah
@StandedInUtah 2 жыл бұрын
Cheer is the sport with the most injuries. It's worse than football. Falling from the top of a tower can be deadly. Missing a handspring or flip can result in a lifetime of back/neck pain. Practice, strength and a culture of safety is necessary. An individual can achieve the first 2 but the last is reliant on the whole gym/system.

From watching a few of CUC videos, I'm now understanding and agreeing with a lot of the comments on their videos. The new faces as well as the old faces just don't follow up with having discipline when it comes to practice. Old habits are constantly repeating themselves; just at the first 5 minutes into the video and Coach Black has had to tell them finish clean numerous times, despite her telling the girl that ent before them. The attitudes is another thing, my gosh. It's honestly exhausting to watch. The girls have great skills but the just wont hone them. Those that do, amazing job to them. We as viewers get on average 20- 25 minutes of footage to watch, just imagine whats its like in real time. I'm almost sure that if the coaches were to get more strict, there would be people commenting that they're being too harsh on the kids. I'm hoping that its a different change (positive) this season because I'm already a bit worried.
@edgegymnastics8409
@edgegymnastics8409 2 жыл бұрын
The form on every one of these girls is horrendous. And the coaches aren’t giving them valid corrections or feedback to fix their form. Pause the video the moment their hands touch in a back handspring and you will see what I’m talking about. Wrong approach. Bhs not long enough. Undercutting. Hands out or in etc. it’s not that they are “bending their legs” or not keeping them together. It all starts with how they sit…..How they reach ….how they jump and where their hands are placed. Their legs bend because they have to based on what their back and shoulders and gonna do when they jump. They all throw their heads back. They are just throwing the skills. Not executing them safely. This gym needs a qualified tumbling coach to come in and help these girls. Positively

Isn’t this is a tryout/evaluation? They are judging them, not coaching them right now. I think the ladies are being very encouraging.

Great posture when they do there jumps, stunts and when they tumble will prevent them from injury! So they need to be tight point toes and keep there heads up! But overall there doing great I miss and love cheerleading especially competitive❤

It hurts me to see that the girls don’t even know BASIC GOOD toe touches, the coaches are obviously teaching more tricks then basic jumps and flexibility things. THERE ARE LEVELS to EVERYTHING. Poor girls.

Some of these girls, have so much potential and genuinely enjoy cheer. These coaches are some of the worst I’ve seen. Hands-on coaching is always best for teams, you want to be able to tell your coach that you need help with a certain skill, or that you aren’t comfortable with what you are doing in the routine. Not trying and being scared is a lot different than not being comfortable and knowing that you are holding your team back with the skill.

I coach girls kickboxing... one thing I notice is they respond to me. Even though its a mixed class and there are other coaches, I get a group who literally will hover around me to be in my set... why? Because I encourage them whilst they work. I demand their excellence because I see how great they are and want them to be abke to also see it themsleves... and I tell them this too. One girl... had never had ANYBODY tell her she was phenomenal... or even good at anything. When she told me THAT, it took everything in me to not break down and cry. She was also a young black girl a d shes 11... In 11 years, nobody told this princess she was good? Beautiful? Worthy? Nobody? YOU/WE know what they're going to go through being in this world, so be the woman you needed when you were growing up... DANG. You can be disciplined and still be loving. Infact, you add more love, that discipline is light work.
