The lifestyle of David and Wallace in using up the hospitality of others sounds like Hypocrite Henry and his wife staying at Tyler Perry’s mansion, where she abused the staff. Harry really did inherit his personality from David.

David and Wallis were users from the start of their life together. Both were without any shame. They used everyone they could to try to get their own way, for their own benefit and to destroy England. He missed the position of king, which he CHOSE to leave, but didn't want the work involved to serve what had been the birthright he threw away so flippantly. Esau comes to mind. Esau sold his birthright (destiny) for a "mess of pottage" (a bowl of stew), personal gratification In David Windsor's case, he sold his soul (destiny) for an unwise marriage, personal gratification, and an alliance with his nation's enemy!

This isn't the first book that detailed the treachery of David and Wallis. It's just the latest one and possibly has more updated information than the ones that came before it. But many of these facts were obviously recorded history and already out there. It was old news about people who are no longer alive and consequently new generations only learn about it if they are interested in history.

My personal opinion is that Edward viii (Duke of Windsor) was the worst! I am afraid that if the monarchy survives there will be more of them. Both the Windsor's and the Spencer's have produced some dark characters. Although, King John of England (Younger brother of Richard I, the Lion Heart) was probably one of the worst "runts' before Edward viii (Duke of Windsor) How could the wealthiest country in Medieval Europe (England) loose half of what is now France? (with no mega- invader, like the Mongols) ??? Harry is terrible too! But unless something happens to William and his family and/or Charles goes totally soft in the head; I do not think that Hazbeen will be returning. Prince Andrew, at this point could probably be considered the "runt" of his generation (Mama's boy, no accountability) despite of his good beginning as a war hero.

Most of us (New Zealanders) had no idea what was going on. My mother, who was born in 1918, told me that the Duke of Windsor was a LOVELY man!!! Regarding his life after the war - I can remember, roughly 50 years ago, reading about the Duke's daily routine - how he had his clothes laid out for him etc etc, and I remember thinking "how boring"! A totally empty meaningless life!

I was born in 1948, so unaware of the abdication until quite a lot later. But at some point I remember people saying oh well it was a while ago now, let them come back. I seriously doubt these views would have been shared had the general population known of all the shenanigans the duke and Wallis were up to. Such a dangerous duo. That should include H&M so it becomes a quartet. So alike.

Wallis had to have dental surgery, that's why she needed medical attention. David never wanted to be King, in letters written in the 1920s to one of his Mistresses he talked about how much he hated his job and how he had no desire to be King...the truth was David DID want to be King, but not to "Reign" he wanted to be able to do what he wanted, when he wanted without responsibilities, or doing any work. He would have been perfectly okay with being told what to do by the Nazis and allow them to do whatever they liked in order to 'keep the peace' which translates into "HIS" peace.

@michelegraham9044
@michelegraham9044 11 ай бұрын
No such thing as coincidence imo. NO ONE can convince me that Sharkle didn’t study Wallis JUST as much as she did Diana. In fact, one of her “” friends/contacts” via Hoho House Toronto also wrote a book about Wallis from Wallis’ perspective. I’ve read quite a few reviews now it’s it sounds like it was a pathetic effort. “Mills & Boon-ish “ said The independent newspaper said of her book . Anna Pasternak who, after reading about her and her books & court cases, sounds like a bit of a hustler but Wallis was published in 2019. Now I don’t remember if the hatchet job she did on Catherine- so bad was it they were ordered to remove one paragraph- had been published in Tatler before or after the publishing of the book. I’ve said years ago I didn’t understand how Markle could have tentacles and be attached to SO many media outlets for a D lister BEFORE I understood how the American PR system works & maybe is practiced elsewhere too BUT she has a habit of cosying up to dodgy people whether she’s bandwagon jumping or not.

I’m also shocked at the involvement of the Windsors with Germany. I just thought they traveled there and shook a few hands! Not only that but David was selfish, self absorbed, and stupid. Making demands of his country for his own ends was absurd! This is in the middle of a WAR! It’s not obvious to him that England had much bigger problems! Part of the reason that David was granted the Bahamas governorship was its remoteness. Communications and travel in those days was nowhere near what it is today, and it was ten times more difficult during wartime. Civilian travel and communications were monitored so that Britain was able to keep tighter rein on their activity there. Wartime also meant delays and detours in civilian travels so they couldn't just sail over to France or the US whenever they pleased because it required a lot of advance planning and official permissions. The isolation of the Bahamas appointment also meant the Windsors' access to information useful to the Nazis was nil. The property the Windsors made all the fuss about that they absolutely could not embark on this wartime refugee trip "home" - paid for by others - without things like their linens, china, crystal and silver, furniture and clothing.

The private letters must have been opened in recent years because there have been a number of books written on them around now. One of Sharkle’s “friends/acquaintances “ with the connection being Hoho House published one in in 2019. It was written from Wallis’ perspective 🙄 being a feminist of course 🙄. A pathetic attempt. This same “friend “ did a hatchet job in an article on Catherine in Tatler magazine. It was so bad the magazine had to remove a whole paragraph. Sharkle tends to attach herself to dodgy characters and from the research I’ve done on this Anna Pasternak she seems another of many.

Spain to Portugal to England was not a "strange route", it was the ONLY route. Spain was very close to Nazi Germany and there was a very real chance he could have been kidnapped by German agents there. Although Portugal was a right wing regime, and there were spies from everywhere operating, it was marginally safer. And don't forget geography: being on the Atlantic it was easier to get him onto either a British ship or for a long-range aircraft to fly him to Southern England in relative safety. Don't forget that France had fallen so the Iberian peninsular was isolated from the rest of Europe. The GG post in the Bahamas "not coming with a knighthood" - this is rubbish, he was a royal duke, far, far higher than a mere knighthood, which he already had in spades, being a Knight of the Garter, Knight of the Thistle (the 2 highest orders of knighthood) plus a Knight of the Bath.
@cheeredenise
@cheeredenise 11 ай бұрын
I think we’re two ships passing in the night. We agree but you don’t seem to realize it. I know he didn’t need the knighthood that came with the governorship, the point is, the appointment was so insignificant it didn’t even carry that. And as to the route, there was plenty of time for them to have escaped from France if they had wanted to. They waited until Spain was the only viable option so they could mix with the Germans.

Because David allowed WS to rule his life, the world ultimately got Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, and someday soon (hopefully) William!

Really really love your book reviews from all these different books what I don't understand is that did David think that his brother and the family would be assassinated much like the tsar of Russia and his family was before the Russian Revolution

This is so good, I’m following along with each chapter on audible. David and Wallis were obviously narcissists of the highest level and he used his obsession with her to his own advantage, besides I suspect that her public dominance of him was thrilling for him. I don’t think he was stupid at all, what I believe is that he was constantly manipulating every situation to his benefit.

Weirdly enough it seems that God plays a part in who sits on the British throne, there's been way too many coincidences which have saved the monarchy, Queen Victoria wasn't destined for the throne or King George V or King George Vl or Elizabeth ll and Prince William was first born , for some reason that throne has a destiny that must continue .

If you believe the Bible, and I do, God definitely sets the monarch on his/her throne.
