Is the ol’ nostalgia feeling. We’re getting older & remember an era were good TV shows made us feel good. We’re now living is dark times were TV shows suck, living in an era were politically speaking, is getting worse which effects society. In those times some of us were kids less responsibilities living the child life. Now we’re living in harsh times were the country is trillions in debt, lack of good paying jobs while prices increase & again, affecting society.

"Cheers" seems so quaint by 2021 standards. But it was downright revolutionary for 1982. There had never been anything quite like it on TV before. And so, if you look at older, classic television and movies and wonder what all the fuss was about, you should always ask yourself if anyone had ever done that before. Even this intro right here is quite extraordinary. It doesn't show the actors. It depicts the IDEA of the show, which was bigger than anyone on it. Yes, it's about Sam and Diane's Will They / Won't They dilemma, but it's also about why we need bars. They're not just places to consume alcohol. The patrons and employees at a bar can be a sort of second family for regulars like Cliff and Norm. The intro also gave the show a sense of timelessness, and so it still holds up today.

I came across the Cheers marathon on CMT a channel that I don’t get on a usual basis. But I was checking out what would be something I’d really like to watch & suddenly I see Cheers > the program that I used to watch with my mother & siblings & we got enjoyment out of it. Yay! Cheers is running for quite awhile. Awesome! Thank you to whoever decided to put this program on & that I really could watch again & throughly enjoy 😊! Right on 👍Really enjoy the cast/characters playing on it. But thinking too, about Kirstie Alley(aka) Rebecca Howe, who also was on the program. So sad that she’s gone so soon > thus can’t re-watch these episodes herself & reflect back. To all who used to watch this program > ENJOY IT! 😑👍

This intro and song could most likely be the greatest opening/ theme song to a sitcom ever. A few days ago I got finished watching every episode of this show on netflix for the first time and after watching it for a year I got to the final episode and then I came very close to crying because first of all the finale was spectacular and second I felt very sad to see sam and the gang go. This show was just incredible and I am watching friends right now and that is also a fantastic/ funny show but for me cheers will always be my favorite show of all time and it will also always be better than the bad sitcoms we have on tv today like family guy and nicky, ricky, dicky, and dawn in my opinion. By the way in my opinion family guy is a kids show just with a bunch of inappropriate jokes thrown in. You will always be my favorite show cheers:-)

+Samuel Black@ fair play to you!! For me personally, Cheers will always be the greatest sitcom of all time; the way the characters ebbed & flowed.... the production values... you just don't get to see that now -- as good as 'Friends' was, & 'Big Bang' is currently, neither can match the majesty of Cheers. I've always maintained that the greatest comedic moments in 'Cheers' were ad-libbed -- the actors were simply SO comfortable in their respective roles that most of the comedy unfolded naturally.

Tv really wasn't better "back then". You're just nostalgic. The walking dead, game of thrones, breaking bad, etc are all obviously superior to anyone that isn't biased and looking through rose colored glasses so dark it looks like someone lit a road flare.
@Ladrianruiz2610 жыл бұрын
callowaymotorcompany Okay...the cinematography may not have been great back then, but the writing and the ability to entertain was still there. I never watched Cheers as a kid but I had this song on a CD and I never once thought this song was about being at a bar.

I always loved when cheers would come on and it was the full intro.

YAY the short version, really hard to find searching keeps wanting the full length disturbing sad song and I wanted to remember the show theme not the 'original' song it's based on. "Cheers" should bring up this version!

Thanks for uploading this. Nice to see the titles in more detail. Unfortunately the widescreen format means that the top and bottom of the original frames are clipped.

I figured it was when this series in particular became a part of Nick-at-Nite's lineup a month after the 9/11 attacks occurred, because since I'm lucky enough to be in my thirties as of now, I remember that announcement being made on certain reliable websites in the months leading up to that attack.

Freshman in High School when this debuted. I was a fan immediately. After Shelley Long left I was blown away by Kirstie Ally with that long and thick brown hair. Beautiful.

I remember this theme song very well and I've seen this show but it's quite a long time. My babysitter used to watch this show and I love this theme song and i understood the lyrics, I was just in pre-school when i saw this show. I love a lot of the 80's TV show theme intro as well as the show i used to watch on TVO in the evening I love the older stuff a lot more then the up to date shows, i had the full version of this song before my computer crashed a long time ago.
