Talented comics trying their best with terrible written dialogue.

It's brutal. And the stage direction as well, Saved By The Bell had more fluid actor movement. What is up with the Rebecca character's pose? Was that kept up for the greater length of show? (until of course she gives up the facade and returns to her real, insecure, lovable self, zzzZZZzzzzZZZzzz).

The laugh track in 21st century American sitcoms is so damn loud and constant that you don't even have time to process the 'jokes'... which might not be a bad thing since the writing is so lame.
@KingRandor825 жыл бұрын
so THAT explains why I couldn't tell there were jokes :P
@SCORP1ONF1RE2 жыл бұрын
At least Cheers never use the laugh track. Just another reason why it was the greatest sitcom of all time.

You would think that the pros that they are, they would say "this is not working and we need a rewrite." Watching this only reminds the viewer of the crappy final season episodes that nostalgia wiped from one's memory.

The scene is in Room 1701, I wonder if that was deliberate or just a coincidence, coz that feels like a homage to Kirstie's role on the starship Enterprise NCC 1701 (Star Trek 2: the wrath of Khan)

Whats this show¿???
@kirkmoore45156 жыл бұрын
Kirstie Alley was a longshot replacement for Shelly Long whose character (Rebecca)started out OK for being different but soon devolved into a minor player in the bar. Norm, Cliff & Frasier picked up enough slack along with Woody to keep the show watchable. They still had a good bench of sub characters that took turns, in different shows, to fill the gaps. John Allen Hill, Kelly, Paul, Henri and others would rotate in to fill the void. The Rebecca character was cringeworthy at times, saved by somewhat good acting by Kristie Alley.
@pjpatrick7875 жыл бұрын
@Michael Richmond Jr her career never took off like she wanted it to .Im glad frasier finally forgave her on his show.
@CoolsBreeze Жыл бұрын
I thought Cheers was better post Diane years. Kirstie made Rebecca so funny.
@canalesworks1247 Жыл бұрын
@@CoolsBreeze I totally agree. I find Diane far more cringeworthy than Rebecca.
@canalesworks1247 Жыл бұрын
I really disagree with you. I found Diane to be cringeworthy. Entire seasons of Cheers in the Rebecca years were built on her romantic interests so calling her a minor charactor is not accurate, even if you prefer Diane. There was her unrequited interest in Mr Drake. Then there was the Robin, Sam, Rebecca love triangle...which lasted two seasons. Then there was the period wherein Sam and Rebecca decided that they wanted a baby together. These were major story arcs, and IMO much more enjoyable than watching Diane destroy both Sam and Frasier. Rebecca was a silly, goofy but ultimately harmless character who wanted to find "Mr Right" and could never put it together. Diane was a self centered conceited Byotch who destroyed her boyfriends. I'll take Rebecca any day. I argue that Kirstie Alley allowed Cheers to be a new show, a far better show than it was in the Diane years.
