One of my best friends saw George in a grocery story once, coming the other way down the aisle. He didn’t want to bother him by saying anything, but did (he thought) discreetly peek in his cart as they passed. “Thought it was going to be full of beer, didn’t you?” said George quietly, and kept walking. The man is a natural comic.

Great, great, great episode. Ted and Woody may think no one wants to hear about Cheers in detail anymore but I’ve been waiting for this. I know they know Cheers was a great show but not sure they know the place this show has in the hearts of fans, even now in the context of another 30 years of programming since. While I love Seinfeld and Curb, nothing touches Cheers. I could listen to the war stories, the analysis, the behind the scenes of Cheers literally all day.

@@DenisRichardJr Ditto - it's always nostalgic to hear someone else say it. There were other classic shows from the eighties - but really, somehow, only one true SHOW that was THE classic show... Didn't even realize it was happening, as a kid - didn't even realize that it was, even then, such a big deal to me; but it totally was.

If by some chance someone that worked on Cheers in any way shape or form reads this little tiny comment…Cheers has been something that connects me to the earliest part of my childhood…and when I moved from New England to out west for a couple of decades…if I was feeling homesick I would stream Cheers…even though I know it wasn’t filmed in Boston…the set decorations…the writing…the acting…my gosh it captured the feeling of being in Boston…in New England. THAnK YOU for making a tv show that is obviously more than just a tv show. And thank you Ted and Woody and George for this great episode…we love you guys, and won’t get tired of hearing about your cheers days ever.

I lived just a few blocks from the studio where Cheers was shot. My roommate was a fledgling actor, and we went to a lot of tapings of the show. I can still hear myself laughing in a few of the shows. I have a silly ass laugh. One thing that I remember being blown away by was that I only saw Ted Dansen trip over a line a couple of times. I'm currently binging Cheers, in the final season, so a lot of what they are talking about is still fresh in my head. What a great episode, Norm has always been one of my favorite tv show characters. Plus, George and I share the same birthday and love of beer. Would have been even better to have Cliff on there as well. I really wish the new Frasier show would have a scene where he goes back to Cheers only to find Cliff and Norm still sitting at the bar!

I love hearing the behind the scene stuff, and the fact that these guys seem to have a bond between them that has lasted all these years. Cheers has to be one of my all time favorite shows, (even though I don’t own a copy of the series on dvd….yet) I didn’t know that George Wendt had been in every episode! Kudos for being the only one! And what a turn of events to lead up to getting the part of Norm, making it so iconic of a character. As much as Sam was important to the bar as the owner, Norm was one of the main fixtures of the bar. So much so, that the whole bar would shout his name as he entered. Cheers was an endearing show, making each character very memorable. I will tell you this; the last episode of cheers still brings a tear to my eyes, as we see Sam walk to the back room. I’ve said it to many of my friends, but I would love to see a Cheers special, that would show where everyone is today, just to see if Norm still had his spot, and Carla would still be waitressing. I know we wouldn’t see some of the characters, due to the deaths of the actors, but I’m sure some sort of nod to them would be there. Maybe Diane would pop in after a whirlwind life, and want to settle down with Sam, and this time they get it right. Thanks guys for having this series of podcasts, as it warms the heart to listen to these wonderful actors share their memories. ❤

The writing was off the charts. The group of actors in the show was perfection. When they added someone, like Frasier or Cliff's mother, they were also perfection. The show became golden-one of those rare moments when everything comes together to make history. I hope they continue this series, talking to everyone in the cast who are still with us.

My parents were 42 years my senior (they were the younger end of the WWII generation, and I was a teenager of the 80s) so we could never have anything we could do/and liked in common when it came to pop culture: music, tv and movies. But Cheers was the only show they liked as much as I did, and we bonded regularly over this show every time we watched it together, whether reruns each night after the late night news, or prime time Thursday nights. Loved it. I love all the lines. "Norm! How's life treating you!? Like I just slept with its wife." And Woody, to this day, I can't drink a Kale vegetable smoothy without thinking of that episode.

I was too young for Cheers when it was on network. I didn't start watching it until after college, in the 2000's. And as much as i enjoyed the show, that very first season was really my favorite. Sam was a ladies man, but he wasn't creepy. They made him kinda lecherous and creepy after the first couple years. Also, the lighting. The lighting in that first season felt like a real bar. Lots of shadows, often under-lit for the actors, but in a great way. It became closer to sitcom lighting in the later seasons, but that first year, things felt more real, the characters were the most endearing, and i just loved it. It was still good by season 11, but that first year....like a fine wine.
