As a kid who grew up in the interior, we used to go for walks in elementary school to identify bird calls. I don’t remember many anymore, but the Black Capped Chickadee stood out for its distinctive « cheeseburger » call. This tiny little bird has over 16 different calls making it one of the most vocally complex birds in the world. There’s very little wildlife in Vancouver compared to back home but it’s hard not to hear them in the morning calling to each other, « cheeseburger ».
