Why do we have this ingrained idea that humans are somehow better than other animals, sure we passed them on the evolutionary scale, but that doesn't mean we have better morals than them; we came from the exact same situation as these beautiful animals.

kevin stj The female in that video had entered directly into the Lion's territory and was cornered, and the male was injured and thus unable to run at full speed. If in full health and prepared, a cheetah would easily escape from a lion.

Andrew Compton Easily is an understatement. There is a video on youtube of a cheetah cub being chased by a zebra. I don't know how old the cub was, maybe 6 months but it was able to out pace the zebra.

male lions fan and will kill cheetahs. It happens all the time. Usually they're young, but if you watched Big Cat Diary, they state clearly that only 1/4 of cheetahs born live to adulthood. In another episode, I don't remember if it was Honey or Amber, a cheetah mother returned to an area after losing her cub where they discovered its body. It was determined that the cub was indeed killed by a lion. My point here is it happens all the time.

Honey the female cheetah has by far one of the best character developments out of any other cheetah star that undergoes this amazing behaviour of her, when she was defending her 3 cubs against a huge male lion by standing her ground towards him and that is the pure definition of brave mother cheetah from big cat diary with the heart of a lion by taking a risk for her survival of her cubs. Best and most iconic moment from Big Cat Diary ever.

cheetahs are food competition. If those cubs live to adulthood they will be fighting for the same food him and his family will be fighting for. Which is why lions often attack/kill other predators in their territory

If caught they stand no chance against lions. That doesn't mean they're done for upon meeting every time, as you can see. There was one where a mother scared the heck out of the lions approaching her den, she ran after them slapping the ground, I'm not sure the lions understood it was a cheetah and not something else because they ran like heck! LOL I have seen lions kill cheetahs, they do not kill other cats like they would prey, they pretty much bite and rip them apart. Often cheetah's are killed by getting their skulls or spines broken, not suffocated. They are treated very much differently than prey would be.

***** It's always possible. lol Food(or protecting a food source), territory, protecting cubs...they don't think like humans, they could very well consider them cub killers even if they aren't, and it's not unheard of for cheetah's to try to kill lion cubs(it's been seen before, though very rare). Who knows what the lions actually think of them and why. =) Could be all of the above.

Already seen this. 1.The female was caught extremely off guard. 2. The Male Cheetah was either sick or injured, this was even explained in the documentary. Lions can not catch a Cheetah in normal circumstances.

Abraham Hagos watch one male lion kills two cheetahs. that is what happens when 2 cheetahs try to kill a male lions cubs. he caught up to them quickly and murdered both male cheetahs. this lion didn't even want to hurt her, he didn't even leave. a lion can kill a cheetah in a second and break it like a stick maybe don't judge animals because if I put you in a cage with a lion you would be crying like a little baby.
