Great video, thank you. I think being able to combine yongnuo and the native remote trigger just sold this item to me.
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
@Photone Photography You can use any trigger. I only use the godox transmitter and receiver to remotely set the power, but for triggering the actual flash, I use my Yongnuo YN-622N-TX. However, just about any trigger would work, either by connecting to the flashes foot, or by connecting it via the pc-sync or 3.5mm sync ports. One primary reason that you would pick one trigger system over another to plug in is whether it supports high speed sync, but other than that, any trigger attached via the pc-sync or 3.5mm port would work.

I received and used it. Magnificent !!! Love it ! I tried both; it works with my PocketWizards, and with my Radiopoppers, too. When hooked up with a TT5 Flex even the HSS works flawlessly (upto 1/8000s); and without taking off its Godox receiver I can control the power output remotely, as well.

For once someone actually done a nice reviews. Today shooters still think this flash is rubbish over the Quantum QFlashes. But it is really the Quantum Qflashes are built & made like a joke. Real flash photographers use & like to shoot flashes which they can control the flash power and not let the flash to think for them. Meaning they shoot flash manually with the added bonus of wireless radio flash power adjustment. We loved the ATG Gold MG8k Flash Kim 3 is because it uses 2.4GHz not 433MHz. ATG visions do come in ATG wireless radio ETTL II, ITTL or ATG ADI TTL. ATG & Edward Tang are great. Both will still support you after the sales. David, well done. At least you don't block your comments/reply like Anthony Scott's.

Thanks for the explanatory and insightful review. Question(s): If you want to mix and match with other (studio or speed-) lights by using another triggering system (e.g., Pocketwizard or Radiopopper) is it possible to hook up the AD360 unit with another system-or the only possibility is to use the Godox trigger and receiver that you connect via USB connection? If only the latter is relevant, then, can you use the Godox triggering system to fire regular lights/speedlights (retaining its features e.g., remote power adjustment)?

great unit! but i always have one question, can i use the unit while the battery back is being charged so it can act as a indoor strobe with ac power source and i won't have to worry about running out of power?
@photovortex10 жыл бұрын
Excellent review David! I'm also thinking of this unit to get the extra power needed for HSS. In the pass I've not liked coiled cords and would rather have a nice flexible straight cord, have you found the coiled cord a hassle at all? And also if one were going to go straight for a HSS sync radio would you still choose the Yonuo 622?
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
@Photovortex, I would like the cord to be a bit longer, but its not too bad. I have not had any problems with it. There was a change made to the design before I bought mine that improved it a bit so it was less likely to pull out of the flash when stretched. On your other question, I think the 622 is an excellent and inexpensive choice for enabling HSS with flashes such as the Godox. If they were the same price, I might go for the Phottix Odin instead (I have not tested the Odin, but assume it would work to enable HSS with similar results as the 622), but in reality, the Phottix system is more expensive. I am overall very happy with the 622 system.

Where did you get that collasable beauty dish you showed in your video, I have been looking for that one, it looks like the connector is same as the light

Louie - I got that from Cheetahstand.com. Its their 19" Octa (kind of difficult to find on their site but it is there in the cheetah light section). As of Feb 8, 2015 when I wrote this, it is listed as $79.95.....

Good video. How does this compare to an Alienbees monolight in terms of power output?
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
CGphotoOp The CL-360 is rated at 307 Watt Seconds of power (according to the manual). I've read that he AlienBees 800 is approx 320 WS, so they are pretty close in terms of power.

Great video. had some questions. will it work as a Slave? and can shoot 2 cl-360 with one trigger? thnx for the info.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Do you mean, can you set the CL-360 to optical slave mode so you don't have to use the trigger? The answer is yes, it has both an S1 (standard slave) and S2 (for use with TTL pre-flash) modes. Also, you can trigger two of them with one trigger in multiple ways. For instance, you could put one CL-360 on the hotshoe and one connected via pc-sync, or you could have a pc-sync split cable and connect them both flashes to the triggers pc-sync port.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can trigger the CL-360 with radio triggers so that you can trigger it off camera in bright sunlight. It does not have a radio trigger built in though, you have to attach one either to the USB or PC-sync ports.

Have you shot in HSS with these and the Yongnuo 622?
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Mapios koloni Yes I have, it works. I have another video that goes over that.
@mapioskoloni97849 жыл бұрын
David Carrico Thank you very much for replying. Which camera did you use? Are you a Nikon user? I've tried using the 622 with the Adorama version of this light, the Flashpoint Streaklight 360, and I could never get them to sync properly when mounted on the hotshoe under the light. Used with a Canon 5kmk3 and 6D, I would always get "black bars" over part of the frame. Then, having tried everything, I connected them with the PC cable and it finally worked. And they only work properly for me though the PC cable.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Mapios koloni I am a Nikon user, and have seen it successfully work with my D300 without any issues (as described in another video of mine). I believe I have used HSS with my CL360 and my D810 as well, but will need to verify that.
@mapioskoloni97849 жыл бұрын
David Carrico Thank you very much for replying. Well, the only way they would work for me is through using a PC cable. And I haven't read any report or post from a Canon user saying they've made that combo work without the PC cable.

Have you used these with a softbox? I want to try to see if it fits with my westcott rapid box or adorama's glow series soft boxes.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Lance J. Reha Yes I have. You need a bracket. You probably have one with the softbox. The flashes are a little tall, so it depends on your bracket on how well they fit. I use two different Cheetahstand brackets that both work really well for attaching soft boxes, the SpeedPro Mk II and the SpeedPro S.
@Lakefilms9 жыл бұрын
Lance J. Reha the issue seems to be the flashtube doesn't go far enough into the softbox.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
With the brackets I mentioned, you can put the tube in as far as you want, and the distance into the soft box is adjustable.

when using 3rd party triggers with the cheetahlight/Godox, can you adjust the power with them? for example with the YN-622 TX. Or do you have to use the usb-trigger remote? I was thinking of using the godox in conjunction with my speedlights, triggering the speedlights and the godox with the YN-622 TX
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
You have to use the USB-trigger from Cheetahstand/Godox to change power levels. I use that trigger in conjunction with the Yongnuo 622N system. I will adjust power using the cheetahstand trigger, but then trigger the firing of the flash using my 622N-TX (I do that simply by including the 622N that the Godox is attached to, within any of the flash groups that I am firing). In a sense, it gives you a fourth group..... It works well, I just keep the Cheetahstand controller in my pocket and adjust power levels with it whenever I need to.
@TorIvanBoine10 жыл бұрын
ah ok. this even works with HSS?
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works even with HSS with one caveat, to put the flash in HSS mode, you have to push a button on the flash rather than the trigger, after that you can control the power remotely with the Godox trigger (however in HSS it has a more limited power range).

Do you know if this flash is the same as the one the Adorama have? Does this flash work with the canon 5d or it will work with the new canon 5Ds version?
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Yes, its essentially a Godox 360 that gets rebranded by many retailers, so Cheetahstand, Adorama, B&H and several others all have rebranding versions (Cheetahlight, Flashpoint Streetlight, Bolt, etc). With that said, some of them do work with Godox to make slight modifications, so they are not necessarily EXACTLY the same thing (for instance, I think the trigger at Adorama has a sync port if I am remembering correctly where that isn't there in other models). However, they all use the same bulbs, battery connectors, etc as far as I know, so in that sense they are interchangeable. So differences in price really come down to customer support, return policy, etc.
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Also, there is no reason I can think of that it wouldn't work with the 5d or 5Ds. It won't have eTTL compatibility with those, but you can use it as manual flash.

Is that same Flash, Godox AD360 / Cheetahlight CL-360 ?
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
That Canon Guy Yes, they are the same. Cheetahstand re-sells a lot of the Godox branded items. Sometimes they work with Godox to improve the product (for instance, I think the Speed Bracket S product has a slight improvement on the tension screw regarding its ability to ratchet), but for the most part they are re-brands. I do not know of any differences at all between the Godox AD360 and the Cheetahlight CL-360. The biggest difference that I am aware of is where you buy it, price and the level of customer support you get if you have any issues. Hope that helps and Happy Shooting!

This is basically the same flash as the one Adorama sells, correct?
@carrida20109 жыл бұрын
Lance J. Reha Yes, its the Godox 360 that is sold by many including Adorama as the Streetlight 360 and B&H as the Bolt vb-22. I have noticed one minor difference with the Streetlight in that the streetlight has the 2 accessory slides that the accessory slots slide over. My Cheetahlight does not have those slide protrusions so relies purely on the friction mechanism to hold the accessories (all the variants I am aware of have the friction knob)

Lance J. Reha I can't say definitively since I don't have a PW, but I believe I have seen/read elsewhere of others doing HSS with the PW and this flash.

hi there is that a multi voltage recharger ?? America is 110V and for us here We are on 220-230 V will it be chargeable on a 220 voltage wall plug?
@carrida201010 жыл бұрын
The manual for the power pack can be found here: www.cheetahstand.com/v/vspfiles/downloadables/CL-L4500.pdf It has the following sentence "Insert one end of the AC charger into an AC socket (100-240V) and the other end......" so I assume it is multi-voltage (but have not tried it myself)....

I bought this from Cheetahstand.com. Cheetahstand has a relationship with and rebrands Godox products. They are sometimes a little pricier than others but have great customer service. Their website needs some work, but Edward will actually call you on the phone if you drop him a note.. The Godox 360 is also sold by Adorama as the Flashpoint Streaklight 360 and they also sell it as a Godox 360 on eachshot.com

David Carrico Thank you very much for your answer. I like your videos and reviews, So according to your answer, You are using Cheetalight because the costumer service, would you recommend newer Ad 360 since is the same flash with different brand? Thank you.

Marcos, I've never ordered from neweer so can't comment on them. I have bought different stuff from Adorama and think they would do a good job at providing good solid support (maybe not to the level of a personal call by the owner of the company like Cheetahstand, but good nevertheless), I have also ordered from eachshot.com with good luck and good prices, but have never had to return anything there so don't know what kind of customer service they have.
