$34 for a dish of rigatoni? This would give Italians a heart attack.

This was actually a good journalistic interview with honest answers. It is rare to see this here. Now a lot of people are complaining about this guy isnt the average person/employer and that is absolutely true. The interview does not try to suggest otherwise. His market is the top 10-20% income, not the average Joe.

"They should have that. They should absolutely have that." Does this guy know this is FOX? He keeps talking that way about the working class and he won't be invited back.

For a millionaire or a billionaire paying $34 (plus 30% between tip and sales tax) vs $15 is chump change / trivial. It seems that the very rich and the luxury dining and entertainment are not affected by inflation price hikes after all. The middle and lower middle classes have to cut down costs and live more frugally. Obviously it seems that the taxation of those at the top and luxury entertainment could be higher and used to offset hardship for the regular people. I moved to nyc from Italy. Fine dining in nyc is often as overpriced as overhyped. The premade pasta sauce in jars is always acidic and a bit rancid. It is way better and cheaper to make it from scratch with good canned tomatoes and fresh herbs and spices. Growing up in italy I never saw people buying pre made tomato sauces, with are exceptions (except pesto). Also in nyc you can shop at Trader Joe’s and get legit good pesto imported from Italy at $3 per jar. No surprise that Major Food group has not opened restaurants in Italy or in continental Europe in general except Paris. You can buy a whole meal in Italy at a good restaurant for the 44 bucks a plate of rigatoni costs at carbone. And that would include some table wine.

the cost of food continues to go up still. the inflation numbers being put out are not correct anybody can play with numbers to make look how they want all I know is I still spend a lot more at the grocery store and everywhere else in flatiron is not going down it continues to go up. everything continues to go up everything not just food they will continue to lie all I know is my dollar don't by as much and ever I have ain't worth as much period.

It is so great to hear that the luxury sector is doings wonderful.... But in reality what about the normal folks just trying to survive and who are standing in line for food? Seems this dude is out of touch with those people.

This guy is not the best interview; talk to a McDonald's franchisee or a family-owned restauranteur... this guy serves a Caesar salad at $31 a plate (re: Dallas, Tx., menu) and probably charges for a glass of water... KDM
