I’m from a country where jolof rice is not a staple food. So, I enjoy any version (as long as it is well prepared). I like this particular recipe; I’ll try it out soon.

Wow. Just looking at the preparation is exciting. Can’t wait to make this for my family. My Ghanaian neighbor made it once for me, so I can wait to try it myself. Greetings from Florida, USA.

Sometimes the ingredients are everything the dish is about. Keep it up Chef Wainaina. My heritage is (although white, -not really relevant, but...) from Africa, so I am a real convert, love the tastes and flavours, i just love the variety of dishes, I amongst others learn from lots of different culture: and we are all better for lol. 👍

Hello Chef Wainaina, I've been watching your videos and I love the recipes (though I haven't actually cooked any of them yet--except for soft paratha). Usually, I see a list of ingredients and measurements in the comments, but I don't find that here for jollof rice. There are a lot of ingredients for this recipe, and I can certainly go back to the video and extrapolate for notes, but if you have your recipes on a website or blog, I'd love to know. Thank you!

Chef, can you use that plantain to make matoke? I haven’t found green bananas in Seattle to make matoke. Any suggestions?
