I don't think people understand the point of youth football. It is to give these players the best chance of having a career in the game. Sure Chelsea can do a better job of bringing 1 or 2 through, but that cannot be the only measure of success. For example, the Chelsea boys (RLC, Lewis Baker, Chalobah) formed the core of the successful England u-20 team at the Toulon Tournament. They might not all find room in a Chelsea 11 but most of them will have successful top flight careers.

Mount is good, but he definitely would not have started any first team games at Arsenal lol. You Chelsea fans are way too arrogant and overestimate the talent you have in your squad. He is not more talented than Reiss Nelson, and Nelson has not even gotten a sniff of first-team football at Arsenal. Wenger doesn't take chances with youth as much anymore. I believe a guy like young Wilshere was also more talented than Mount and he only started getting more starts around when he was about 19.

It has nothing to do with talent, it's to do with opportunities. I wasn't saying he'd be a starter, I was saying he would have played for the first team, maybe in the league cup, as Arsenal give youth more of a chance in these competitions. Players like Willock, Reine-Adelaide and Maitland Nailes have all played for you this season. Also it's not arrogance. At academy level, Chelsea are one of, if not the best in the world. The young lads have won the champions league equivalent for the last two years, dominated the FA youth cup in recent times and won the professional development league south in the last 3 seasons. The academy players are all so talented and many would be better off for their careers to move to a different club giving more opportunities because at the moment, Chelsea just don't offer these chances. Conte has already shown some signs that this will be changing however.

I don't support Chelsea but that youth team is scary good, should be a great youth final. If none of these youngsters can get into the 1st team in a few years then I really feel sorry for them but they will get into most other teams so at least they should have a good career somewhere. Excellent scouting system finding some real talent. Tami Abraham banging in the goals out on loan at Bristol City and doesn't get a sniff of 1st team football, Christensen out on loan, Chelsea obviously have a hell of a squad. My sons are Chelsea mad so I have to suffer watching them - how many of them are British I wonder.

That's not the whole point lol. You want to give these guys opportunities to have a footballing career anywhere, especially with the stamp of playing for Chelsea academy during the crucial points of their development. Chelsea are one of the biggest teams in Europe, so to make it as a first-team starter is very very difficult. You'd have to be a special talent with supreme technical quality or be very versatile and athletic to have a chance. The academy teaches players how to be professional, gain good skill and knowledge about the game, and if some are good enough they get to train with first-team players which would obviously make them better in the long run.
