Great as always! I always though David Moyes was handed an impossible job when David Gill left at the same time as Sir Alex, leaving him with Ed Woodward who had no experience in that role.

Arsenal have done well under Arteta. They have been a title contender. But that is in the context of United, Chelsea and Spurs all falling off the face of the earth. They fight against Manchester City, a team who had unlimited resources to build an absurd squad, who they since have been trading with, making FFP limits irrelevant. You can’t look at their net spend over the last five years and say anything, it started with Robinho and they’ve been trading world class players for world class money ever since. The same can be said for Chelsea with the Roman money, despite their last couple of seasons of madness. Arsenal simply do not have the squad to compete against Manchester City - no one does - except Real Madrid. Man City go into every match in world football as favorites - home or away - apart from against Real Madrid away. You cannot judge Pep or Arteta as managers - they’ve never done anything they weren’t expected to. Pep started at the top, so he should have won what he has won. Arteta started at an underperforming club, and underperformed to begin with. Then, due to factors including massive revenue, Arsenal have returned to where they belong - a title contender. Anything less is a failure, anything more would be extraordinary. They are doing what they should be doing - finishing 2nd or 3rd for now. When United sort themselves out, they will expect to come second again. Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are the biggest clubs and so them finishing in the top four is par. There are no disasters unless any of them finish outside it. Arteta should not have been hailed as a messiah for coming second, nor should he be crucified now he is 4th. He should go and ply his trade at a normal club, as should Pep, to get some practice in actually beating the odds, having to think outside the box and winning against a stronger team. That way Pep would do better in the CL and Arsenal in the Premier League. Anyone who truly believes that Steve Bruce wouldn’t have won the lot with prime Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and co. is an oddball. The same goes for winning the Bundesliga with Bayern. The same goes for winning the league with Man City. It is his 9th season, most would have won the CL once with unlimited resources, too. Pep is just an attacking Southgate - never won a single match that he wasn’t expected to win.

As a Turkish Galatasaray fan I think people need to call Jose Mourinho for what he is:a washed-off, past-his prime, over-paid, under-performing coach. I'm not gonna tell you that Turkish league is a must-watch but Mourinho blaming everybody else but himself is just pitiful. He's being paid more than 10 million a year (the highest paid person in Turkish football history including the players) but he was playing with his phone and left the stands (he had a red card punishment) 15 minutes left for the half time when Fenerbahce was playing AZ Alkmaar. We had 4 matches this week in Europe and only side lost their match is Mourinho's. He doesn't even care and seemingly wants a ticket back to the Premier League. As a Galatasaray fan I hope he stays at Fenerbahce since he is not a proper coach anymore.

As an ignorant american ive always hated the ‘shirt sponsor’. Its garbage. Tacky and classless and the ultimate expression of greed in the premier league. Awful. Figured we had the greediest sports leagues. Not so. Europe has had us beat for years

Hi. Greed is in all of us alas. The financial rules of The Prem mean that clubs can only realistically succeed through maximising income. FFP or now PSR. Football is a cash cow and, sadly, we supporters are merely punters. La Liga will play more games in the USA to try and compete for revenue and so it goes. Add to that the realisation that FIFA and UEFA are merely tour operators essentially. Forever arranging bigger and more lucrative tournaments to swell their coffers and annual award events for the kudos. Cheers YNWA

I’d rather an ugly shirt sponsor than the amount of sponsor interruptions to the broadcast in NFL
