I live in Ipswich, I am a Chelsea fan but i have watched all of Ipswichs games this year, and i can tell you all, Delap is no better than Big Spanish Marc, if Marc played for Ipswich and had same minutes as Delap i beleive big Marcs numbers would be better. Trust me.

The problem with just saying “go and get Isak” - our board tried that in the summer, it was recently reported that we were quoted £150m for his services. Do you really want to spend that much on someone who is frequently injured? We already have that problem where we can’t rely on key players such as Lavia, RJ, and Fofana. We need someone we can count on to be fit. You may not be sold on Delap, but he would cost a fraction of the price. Considering we need to re-tool our back line, I can understand why the directors are not jumping to spend that amount of money on one player.

As well, crying out for a winger like Kvara, were the first thing you’ve said about him is that he will not bang in a lot of goals for you, but he will bring creativity and assists. We have that already in spades. What we need are more natural goal scorers. We create a ridiculous amount of big opportunities that don’t find the back of the net. Our wingers already don’t take enough shots as it is, bringing in another player of that same profile will only double down on the problems that we have. It certainly would not be a solution to those same issues.

I don't think kvicha is needed especially for the money being asked because he ain't much upgrade on Sancho. If the money involved was somewhere around 40m then it would be a good deal but 80m for a guy who might get maybe 6 goals extra is just not ideal.

The Delap interest is because they believe Nico Jackson can continue to develop into true #1 striker. Isak is the only true option that would be universally seen as “can’t miss”. Isak is 2 years older than Nico, so I think we all need to take a breath on bashing the guy. Delap would be a SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper option who can create competition while being more understanding if he wasn’t playing every match. Maresca has worked with him previously, so there would be a comfort with system expectations from a player perspective. There is no way Chelsea has the financial cap space to go spend over 100mil for Isak. I think everyone is panicking because they got ahead of themselves, believing we might be in a title race (even if not wanting to say it). We weren’t. This was always a year where we would be battling for top 4. We have done in 2 years what Man United hasn’t done in previous 3 and won’t be able to do in the next 5 - that is completely overhaul the squad and salary structure. If we go from 12th to 6th then 4th, that is perfect progression for me. After that we should all start expecting the squad to compete for the league. The majority will have had time to mature, build a culture and understanding with each other.
