Manoo may not be the solution but none of the players you mention can play in cm and be defensivly sound. Lavia has the potential but is so frail and he has been going a long way back. Enzo is a class player on the ball but he’s really terrible defensivly.

The only thing I can think of about Mainoo is if we’re thinking of using as a RB that sits in deep with Caciedo when we have the ball like he did when Gusto didn’t play. This way Enzo can push up, otherwise I don’t see the point - unless we get rid of a few midfielders

Kobbie Mainoo to Chelsea makes zero sense. He'd be the 5th choice central midfielder. Caicedo, Fernandez, and Lavia completely clear Mainoo, and Andrey Santos on loan at Strasbourg has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 this season. All of them are still young as well.

Lavia can't be relied upon for an entire season as he is injury prone... if kdh, carney and casadei leave, who will be cover for enzo ? andrey covers for Moi but what of Enzo? we could do with a Maino for depth, which we will need for this season and next season if God willing we are in the champions league..

It's all about profiling players into fixed positions in Marseca's system. Mainoo would be an 8 like Enzo and Caicedo and Lavia would be the defensive minded 6's. It does feel like it would be a massive shame to sign Mainoo as an 8 and not give Santos a chance as an 8 next season. Especially as he has had such a strong first half of thr season for Strasbourg.

Lavia, Santos, Lesley, Enzo, Caicedo, that's five midfielders not including the academy and the likes of Carney, casadei, KDH because they may leave. That's an overkill and for 50-70M, not worth it.

We need at least two players the manager trusts in each position. Enzo’s legs were going against Ipswich and even Caicedo was starting to drag … and you don’t trust players like KDH and Casadei to do it; that simple. It will get even tougher if we make CL football, and there will be no rest in the Summer with the CWC. Are people even convinced Lavia is an actual person and not an AI rumor at this point? You can’t count on him to be fit. Like Fofana, being fit was an issue before even arriving here, but the talent lured us anyway. So even if Santos is back by Summer or sooner, we still need another high quality midfielder. I don’t know that Lesley is that guy. Against Ipswich, If we can put on a Santos in Palmers role (who, yes, can be a more defensive option that still provides creativity and danger. Not his starting spot, but situationally), and Mainoo in for Enzo… you take pressure off the amount of area Caicedo’s has to cover. We add in steel and legs and not only hold the lead, maybe add to it by recapturing the spine of the field. That’s how this team should be able to play. Some of the talents brought in aren’t up to the task, so you modify til the team is right. Mainoo could not start above Enzo and Caicefo and still get nearly 25-30 starts next year. That’s the type of workload in store. He’s being played TOO much at United as is. Kids that want to follow the recent Barca path should look at what is happening to those players and take note. It may not happen, but Mainoo would be a good idea.

I see this fanbase still doesn't fully understand the Sporting strategy. Guys, you don't say no to great young players, especially if they're from a rival. 1. Even if its just for contract negotiations, then you play along, because it hurts their books. But Mainoo is a great buy. 2. You can't have enough great midfield assets. Lavia was injured and we felt thin for the last 5 matches. Mainoo is a different profile that we don't have on the squad - a Kovacic style dribbler. He will give us additional ways to set up and make subs to adjust for play. 3. The current "B-Team" can't compete in the Prem or UCL, so you can consider it an upgrade there too (assuming we sell Carney and KDH). 4. Both Mainoo's team and Chelsea know that he has a better chance of development and retaining his resale value sitting on the bench at Chelsea vs being at Man Utd. You can buy and resale at anytime in the next 5 years. 5. Lavia is injury prone, Caicedo is being exhausted, Enzo is still not a perfect fit, Santos is young and currently unproven. Stop getting sentimental with players you only started liking a few months ago.

I love the idea of Mainoo to Chelsea-that’s the FIFA fantasy manager in me talking. Realistically, though, I don’t think we need him, even if we sell Carney, Casadei, and KDH. Unless we can snag him on the cheap with low wages, then maybe it’s worth considering. As for wingers, we definitely need another right-footed one. Personally, I’m not a fan of Neto on the left-even if he can do a job there. Let Noni and Neto duke it out week by week on the right. On the left, Sancho could go toe-to-toe with Kvarinho if we bring him in. We need someone talented enough to push Sancho-or for Sancho to push them. We need to get a dominant striker. I'm not so keen on Delap, but it seems every one is. I still think one of the Victors are better fit. I could be wrong. It would be great to grab Guehi this window, but if we can just bring back Chalobah for now and make a sensible purchase in the summer if needed, I think that would be best.

Every transfer season, it's Chelsea selling key players or being associated with buying out-of-favor players from other teams, who end up contributing little or nothing to improving the overall performance of the team, or are never even featured at all.
