High aspirations are essential for top players. If they were happy, I would be worried. I go round in circles and can only come back to the fact that Poch is not instilling the correct work ethic and tactical awareness in the players. I want him to succeed because Chelsea succeeds, and I am a lifelong Chelsea fan. My other main concern is who will actually replace him? Nobody will change things dramatically before the end of the season, but who do we replace him with? And there is the nagging suspicion he could do really well next season with a few savvy signings and time. As with most Cheslea fans, I suspect we have realistic expectations of improvements rather than a demand for immediate titles. We haven't really seen that in the league. Hoping for better 😢

Finally, a sensible post. Chelsea have bought young good players for longevity; if the players were all sold they would go to top clubs. Unfortunately they are not yet making a team. Is it Poch's fault the players are missing good chances? Fact is we are getting chances. Ironically we play well against the top sides. I'm as frustrated by it as anyone, but frustration seems to be rubbing off on the players. Let's see

I actually am in the minority who think your recruitment has been great excluding the first summer. Palmer, Gousto, Nkunku etc are great players and will provide significant return even if not in our team long term. Even Fofana is playing well and is a stock of rising value on loan. There are no guarantees in player development but I think on the whole more wins than losses. Just need them to deliver on field 😩

@@JeffreyDahmer-vg8xp Bipolar, I love it, great description. I call that passion. That's why we love the game, our club, the ups and downs. If some of our players demonstrated the same "bipolar passion", I believe we would be in a much better place. It's just too simple to throw out another manager. There should be a mirror in front of every player in the dressing room with a question on it. "Was I at my " professional" best today? I assure you, there would be a lot of 7 years bad luck staring them in the face. We had a very bad in our own office. Let's look in that mirror again on Thursday and predict that answer. Mindset and work ethic comes from within. I'm sure you have encountered that in your own workl life.

I've been a Chelsea supporter since 1970, born in 63. I've witnessed proper hard times at the club, shit stadium, wired fencing around the stands, sandpit pitches, old div 2 football, mismanaged at board level, nothing happening now hasn't happened before? Even under Roman we only won back to back prems once, although we might have filled in the gaps with an fa/league cup/ champ league, yes we are in a bad place at the mo🤷 it happens? There isn't any right to win anything, the facts are city, arsenal and Liverpool have a big edge over us, things change quickly in football, this content cloud of entitlement is bollocks, get a decent striker, get everyone one fit for next year and we go again, chin up son - keep the blue flag flying high, come on you Chels😜

@@RS-vy9qv how many more managers will we keep having to blame to realise we don’t have players who can actually score goals? With the exception of Palmer. Under Poch we have been creating soo many chances but that’s all wasted cos we don’t have goal scorers up front. Jackson is good but lacks scoring, Sterling… Mudryk is slowly getting there but still isn’t a goal scorer same with Noni, Armando Broja with all due respect has to go and Nkunku barely plays cos he’s injured. Yet it’s Poch’s fault? Not even Pep could get these guys to score but it’s always easier to blame the manager rather than the players so I’m not surprised ur not blaming them😂 how bout we blame Poch for helping us create soo many chances per match? How bout we blame Poch for us having one of the highest XG’s in the prem? Poch was right when he said we should be in the top 4 but cos our players can’t score tap ins and all the big chances they have been given we r stuck playing kiss chase with 11th and 10th place😐 but sure blame Poch

Yet the blame is on Poch cos other than Palmer all the other attackers rarely score and people really think a new manager with new tactics can come in and get non goal scorers bagging goals😭 Tuchels last games at Chelsea we lost cos we couldn’t score, Potter had us scoring 1 goal a month, Lampard could barely win a game and now Poch is having the same problems ALL these managers had🤦🏽‍♂️

If you're getting rid of poch you may aswell get rid of half the squad because they are just as much to blame. Why can't Chelsea allow a manager to build for more than a season, arsenal have, so why do Chelsea fans expect it should be instant success with a squad that's largely undeveloped at the level. If anything poch should have been the one that questioned what he was getting himself in to. The only criticism I'll give against him is not changing away from this crappy formation half the teams play. Also the injuries have been unreal! Nkunku, James, Chilwell, fofana, that's a lot of experience but no good if they are always out.

They will not be happy until they "throw Poch under the bus". These over paid, under talented, under performing egomaniacs take the true responsibility then we can look at the management. Good friend, every team has to deal with injuries at some point in time and every team misses glaring chances. Liverpool had almost the whole team plus the bench out injured at one time. Same for Villa, Newcastle and Spurs. All of those teams play more than one game a week and are still above us in the standings. Let's stop with the excuses. This is Chelsea FC not Watford or QPR. As many goals as Man City and Liverpool seem to score, there are more misses than conversions. The top 6 teams have about the same or very similar conversion rates for goal scoring as Chelsea (relative to opportunities created). The difference is that those teams continue to create lots of chances so eventually the goals go in. If you tabulate the amount of chances missed by Nunez, Salah, Haaland and Foden, you will be shocked. That data is available. It's Poch's job to continuously put the team in the positions where they can create those chances; he should be making adjustments to counter or stifle what other managers are doing. His in-game management and tactical awareness are very sub-par. From the many games we've seen over the last 9 months, as soon as his starting game plan fails we start to look like a mid-level Championship team. We've seen him get outcoached too many times after the half time break or in the last quarter of the game.

I stand by my point that sacking Poch before the Summer has no point. We've had highs and lows with Poch and I can't deny that there certainly is the possibility of us dropping further down the table but with what we did in certain games there also CERTAINLY is the possibility of finishing on a high note and reaching as far as 6th place with maybe an FA cup win too. I just don't have the feeling that there is an available manager or even just caretaker out there that would actually help us. If we sack Poch now, that possibility of reaching 6th or winning the FA cup just isn't there anymore. Not in my eyes at least. Unless we get REALLY lucky with whoever we bring in, sacking Poch is about as good as giving up on the season when there are still matches to be won and even a trophy to be brought home.

Nothing is right at Chelsea. The recruitment team, the medical team, the Project 2030 nonsense, the coaching staff are all failures. And the squad reflect all of the above.

I've been saying it for two years: why are our best players always hurt?? Before we sack another manager or spend another $100M+ on young up-and-comer, let's take a loot at the medical staff! We have so many players hurt, that I forget we even have them on our squad (Lavia, Nkunku, Fofana....I forgot all about Carney until he came back a week or so ago.)

For me, it's the inconsistency throughout the season. People have asked me about games and I said it depends on which Chelsea showed up on the day!

And where does that come from. It most certainly has something to do with this terrible strategy of only having very young players with no experience, or leadership apart from a 40 year old Silva. The people who put the squad together should be the first to go. Because of that (and injuries) I find it hard to really judge how good Poch is but hearing him speak I got no sympathy for him, terrible in interviews and pressers.

If we got rid of most of our older squad and didn’t spend a £billion we could have some patience. But it’s April and we are still 11th. We’ve conceded more goals this season than last season…. after finishing 12th!

I think to squad is too big in numbers, and difficult for Poch to have a very stable first team. That's the reason the reason why many players want to revolt as they don't get regular time on the pitch.

Is it a case of the squad just needs to mature. Poch has said numerous times that inconsistency is tough with such a young team. I wonder if next season we see the team matured from this season and learned from mistakes not seeing out games especially. It’s possible next season things could click but who knows.
@steveharding2668

Can I ask, when Poch does press conferences, post match interviews etc. do you honestly understand what he is saying? He speaks English but for much of the time I honestly have no idea what he is on about from a football sense. If this situation is repeated in the dressing room where for so many players English is not their native tongue, then is it any wonder they start or come out for the second half actually looking that they have no idea who is doing what? For someone who worked within an Italian company for many years, this situation is not unusual especially when it comes to someone who does not have a extensive vocabulary giving precise, detailed instructions to a young, inexperienced team. And outside of the results on the pitch, the overall situation at the club is due to the silence from the senior management team not Poch. They had the audacity to send me a matchday experience survey last week wanting to know my opinion of facilities, entertainment, food & drink etc. Really, honestly? They need to get off their arses and go to the upper east stand to see the state of the facilities, the lack of space, overpriced rubbish beer & food etc. And season tickets that are nearly a grand a pop and are rumoured to be going up by double digit % increases. Poor football, poor results, poor facilities and poor communication; that's why the natives are restless and until these things change it will only get worse.

We can only hope that he has a translator, because I agree that understanding his pigeon English is sometimes difficult and open to interpretation. That's coming from someone who has a Spanish speaking wife of 8 years and still struggles occasionally with my translation.

On one hand, I understand "the project," but on the other, I kind of feel like sticking to 25 years old and younger has left the squad lacking veteran leadership. That means there is not enough of an older calming presence to help the younger lads with the mental part of the project. We certainly are a mess right now. I like that progress for some players is visible, but the squad as a whole leaves a lot to be desired, and a veteran presence would help there. Having said that, I don't know if coaching is the problem or if the problem is how the squad was put together. As always, @yan, thanks for the quality content, bro.

Its a major and obvious weakness in our strategy. It incredible how it has even been allowed to happen, its that obvious. We only have a 40 year old Silva with leadership qualities, the only other senior player is Sterling who has absolutely no leadeship skills so count for nothing during matches. Even our captain is somehow Gallagher who does´nt get involved as a captain should in any way, seemingly he is only there to show the others a physical commitment. He does´nt look anything like a leader of the group and basically looks showhorned in the team, more or less out of position as a 10 where he is bang average with very little creativity or goal threat.

You can't have everything this is football losing is apart of it instead of worrying about the score line analysis our players look at how they're improving growing in confidence and ability We will better next season and the season after, that's how a rebuild works with young guys who want to improve.

Alroght, so I have 2 things. 1, i absolutely do not believe these reports. In the Abramovich era that was a lot of talk about player power, yet theyve all come out and said they never really met the owner much and he certainly didnt listen to their opinions of a manager. New ownership now, granted, but i doubt the players have access to the owners to moan about their boss. I think these are just stories that agents of players, and media, like to leak to sell papers and maybe get a transfer. As for Poch, it does feel inevitable he will go but i dont think its the right call. This is a very tough club to manage right now. Nobody has left this club and gone on to do well in the past decade. Poch is still one of the best managers around. He has a very young squad that will benefit from consistency of coaching, not chopping and changing. Im pretty cpnvinced that a new mamager next year would still see us hovering around midtable. We are a long way off contending for top 4, never mind titles. Stick with poch, build around palmer and have a clear plan for targeting experienced players in summer to support the young squad.

People say its not the manager but for me, it is. For me, 50% is the players efforts and practice and passion and fight for the badge. 50% is the coaching, the chemistry building, set pieces, and finishing (managing). Currently, half the players have no passion and some just arent good enough (centre backs). We all know the quality that most players have but Poch has to get his Sht together and come down hard on these players or he will lose his job. He needs to positively influencene these players and drive them to win. As George Benson said, the players dont really seem friends or go out together, they just get paid to play football. The players to gain chemistry and fight for the Badge, eachother, the manager and most importantly the fans.

I'm not sure about this news. Most of the players are lacking basic skills , awareness and decision making is awful at times. Why do so many Chelsea players balloon their shots, scuff them or put them straight at the keeper ? these skills should be inherent in any professional. Marking the opposition at set pieces is a basic which we still fail to do. This causes us all sorts of problems like it did for Burnley's second goal on Saturday. Marking is a basic part of defending. Now , is this a coaching issue which should be resolved at the beginning of the season not with 8 EPL matches remaining, or is it that the players are totally unaware of their jobs ? We are so poor in many aspects, so is it the players or the coaching staff ? I suspect both are to blame. I fail to understand why the same issues keep recurring.

Sacking managers hasn't worked so far and it's only created more instability and declining performances... let's try some new, like say, dont be a child, be patient; let Poch cook; and let the boys develope (or some of the more vocal fans can lace up, get out there, and show us how the game should be played). It's not the end of the world to endure some hard times. If anything, ownership needs to step away from transfers and let the coaching staff build their team. Chelsea is a business operating for profit, but they only profit if the team is winning. Clearly the new ownership made some pretty ridiculous business moves and we're seeing how all that plays out. I stead of asking for Pochs head, maybe we should be pushing back on ownership for having such a heavy hand
