I also know that sacking the best manager we've had in years along with pretty much all our backroom staff, deconstructing our academy and replacing a Champions League winning squad with players of the calibre of Disasi and Sanchez alongside a squad with the average age of 7 isn't exactly doing us any favours either. My concerns are that we are aimlessly spending.. for example, why go for a winger when we have got... a plethora ; not to mention Jackson should be playing Wing, not striker. We need a world class goal keeper, first and foremost.. secondly, we need a Gyokeres, or possibly a Liam Delap. it just feels as though we are spending with no reason or budget.. i love Jackson, i just believe he is out of position as evidenced by his lack of finishing, but he has an exceptional ability to win 1 on 1, dribble, passing and a tenacious work ethic. He deserves the spot to the right of palmer on the wing, with either sancho or neto on the opposite side. imagine this vision, with a guy like gyokeres, and a keeper that has been proven to keep sheets clean. I'm so with you! Love your videos George, but this is a little fickle, and a poor rant. Does this video drop without the last 5-game wobble? If I had told you that at the start of 2025, we'd be top 4, would you have been happy? Granted the context of it isn't great. Sure, we've missed on some strikers, but good hell calma. I think this new transfer strategy will be hectic, and will break some hearts, but the strategy I think so far, shows some promise. Even based on the bad signings. Disasi has suitors, and that is the worst case scenario. James Walcott's recent video on this strategy hits the nail on the head. Grab up all the young talent. Let the cream rise to the top, sell off those that don't work. Hectic? Yes. Ruthless? Entirely. Should we question the treatment at times of players like Chalobah? Of course. But look, we've got the squad that we do now, b/c of the strategy, and we're only getting better. If we continue to slide, questions of course need to be asked. But I'm not having this banter as if we're Man United and are totally capitulating. Calma calma. I'm not Clearlake capital or bust, but see the forest through the trees. I'd argue you've seen one the quickest and best squad overhauls in years, and it is still building. I'm still struggling to find the reasoning behind going in for Garnacho. We already have plenty of wingers in Sancho, Madueke, Neto, Tyrique George , potentially Mudryk and not to forget Estevao Willian who is on his way in. Instead we should be going in for an experienced cb, a competent gk and a striker who can actually put the ball in the net atleast 75% of the time. There's no way EVERY fan can tell where the problematic areas are in the squad but the recruiting team just ignores it. Yes we do have plenty of young players with plenty of potential coming in, but what are we going to do before they are actually first team material ???

Nothing is gonna change guys. The new owners and sporting directors have a very clear strategy and trajectory that they really believe in and they will keep going with that. They are never going to buy a completely established player and pay a lot in wages. They are just not. We’ll have to endure a few seasons of up and downs until the current players start to grow into their peak years. Then they will be the those experienced players to the upcoming younger one.

Great Video - Agree with so many of your comments It's been obvious to just about everyone that we are in desperate need of a Striker and a Goalkeeper. Jackson could be good, but he's got nobody to learn from, and to push him. Isak would be ideal because he's still reasonably young, has had a couple years experience in the EPL and, despite his physique, has a real presence in the box. Even Chris wood could teach him a thing or two about not getting offside [His timing, and curving runs to remain onside is a lesson a lot of younger players can learn from] The display by that back four against Wolves [all over 24 or over] showed how leadership, experience and communication makes a difference. Sanchez has, I believe the 2nd worst record for errors resulting in goals - Why can't Maresca and the Board acknowledge that his not good enough. Thats why he was replaced by Petrovic half way through last year. Another loan player we could recall!! Midfield is, as you rightly pointed out, is great - when they're fit. Lavia is a concern, Enzo is generally Ok, and Caicedo is a monster - Heaven forbid he ever gets injured. KDH simply isn't up to their standard, but actually did ok. What about another recall - Santos from Strasberg? Our owners seem to be treating football transfers like they're running a baseball team, which simply doesn’t work in football. If we can secure at least the Europa League next season by finishing fifth in the league or winning the Conference League, I’d be happy to see us make a high-profile signing. However, if we miss out on fifth place but still manage to win the Conference League, I’d prefer we focus on a more budget-friendly signing who is still a quality player.

There could be some back scratching going on behind the scenes between us and Man Utd with regards to PSR. I don't think it's a coincidence that both Man Utd players we are linked with are pure profit players for them(Mainoo and Garnacho). If it doesn't make financial sense for us, as in the case of Kellyman, it's probably a PSR move. The clubs are just trying to disguise it as much as they can. Perhaps there's a deal that goes something like this: Man Utd overpay by £20m for Mount to help us with PSR, then we return them by overpaying £30m for another player in the future.

You build a team by starting with a spine 25-29 yr old Striker, Midfield Centre back and GK and they are world class, price 70-100mil that is your spine for 300-400mil 7 more first team starters for 350mil. 6 reserve players for 180mil and you do as Liverpool and make up the rest with the best of the academy. Maresca isn't without blame. Normally, the manager figures out a way to play based on the squad available. Maresca doesn't. He's decided that his concept is the best concept, and now that concept is the only concept imaginable, deviation is unacceptable, and if we don't have the players for it then we'll just have to lose games. Playing Maresca-style is more important than actually winning. No, Jackson isn't the best guy for crosses. Maresca knew that going in and wanted to do crosses anyway. No, we don't have exactly the right wingers to consistently be a menace down the flank if the wingers are unsupported and isolated. That was always the case. And we do have an Nkunku that really doesn't fit anywhere in a Maresca system and we had that guy when Maresca signed on. The guy hasn't actually won anything. The best he's done is getting Leicester promoted with the highest budget in the Championship. I hope his sky-high opinion of himself will one day be justified but so far I really don't think it is. And until he actually does, I reckon he should be just a bit more humble and quit the goofy shit when we start losing games because of it.
