I remember in the 70.s the high st was filled of second hand shops used to love looking around them

My grandad Ted Raymond had a few shops in the Lower High st throughout the 50's/60's and my dad would tell me similar stories ....Thanks for all your input

I used to love looking around Ted Raymonds. Kestertons was another.

Mike Mudway use to cut my hair when I was a kid good to see him aint changed much, to add to the monkey story my grandad (Reg "rusty" Sabbatella) brought her home from the pub as a pet for my mum she named her Jenny, think he took the monkey back after a while, love to see a photo of grandads veg shop opposite Jacksons news agents & Manners the butchers from the 60/70's.

Lower end has always had a bit of a bad rep shame it’s not got all the shops it used too

I used to love the lower end, not so much now though. my dad had a litle bike repair shop opposite the Essoldo cinema that was. before that, the shop was Len Mathews sweet shop.
