Honestly, Soldier in Expiration Date is just incredibly iconic. Definitly some of the most memorable lines/scenes of the thing are with him. This one, teleporting bread, "we are going to live forever!"

10:08 I think a context that a lot of casual viewers miss out on when watching the official TF2 content is that the mercs and world are set in the 60s, which comes through in a lot of the art style and humor but it's never explicitly pointed out in the videos, more-so in other media like the comics. That context makes a lot of details and jokes in the characters more significant, like the medic being a morally bankrupt medical doctor or the soldier being a patriotic caricature because he was a young man when World War II happened. I've seen most people take that line about Scout wanting a lady that can read as "haha, Scout usually picks up trailer park trash and has low standards" but it's actually a sweet observation given Scout himself is shown to be semi-illiterate, struggling to read words like "submachine gun" in the comics. It shows that Scout really admires Pauling more than an average girl because she's a capable and intelligent woman with a nice personality that kind of subverts Scout's more superficial sensibilities.

@Sonicsgirl13 I love Scout and Pauling's portrayal in the game and expiration date; the comics kind of go for a one-sided "will they won't they" where they really play a lot of jokes off of scout being a desperate hopeless romantic and Pauling just kind of acknowledging him in a semi disinterested way. Pauling never really expresses a reciprocated love in the comics but in killer contract dialogues and expiration date it shows more the idea that she likes Scout too, she's just more reserved and professional about it than the Scout could be. I don't need them to be lovey-dovey in canon; but that one voice line where Pauling gets flustered and fumbles her words after telling Scout that she needs him for a job by phrasing it as "Scout, I need you" lives rent free in my head. I love their work-oriented Bookworm / playful doofus dynamic

It also made me wonder if he ever did the sideways tango with other women; Zhanna literally offered some fun time with Scout but his loyalty to Pauling got in the way. But thinking back on it now, he likely fooled around before meeting Pauling and has been hopelessly romantic and loyal ever since. I don't believe it to be one sided in the comics. Ms. Pauling is just so stupidly busy especially in the Mann Co no more line that she just doesn't have room for romance at the time. I remember folks saying that she's a lesbian due to her reaction to Zhanna being naked and having little to no interest in Scout. She could be Bi or she was just in shock by it all; poor girl has been through so much...she deserves more than one day a year to relax.

@Sonicsgirl13 TLDR; I love them as a couple regardless what media they're in but I prefer the game and the short because I'd rather have a potential "will they, won't they" then a "will they, why won't you leave her alone". There's a lot of flip flop on whether or not Scout is a virgin, in the game; it's implied in some areas that he has tried to/succeeded at picking up ladies but there are in-game jabs from certain mercenaries like spy who say that he's a virgin and I feel like the Spy would somehow know that. I don't believe they address it in the comics, but I think they allude that he may still be a virgin when he meets God in heaven. Even in expiration date, they show him getting with the Fried Chicken girl, but they don't explicitly say or show that he did the deed, but I think it's implied. it's just one of those details that's kinda been inconsistent for the sake of what jokes they want to make with Scout; he can be the sleazy ladies man while also being the overcompinsating virgin, like whether pyro is a woman or a man. As for the portrayal in the comics, I could definitely see that Pauling isn't necessarily disinterested just that she's too busy to deal with it, and I personally don't think the comics needed a romance plot outside of soldier and Zhanna for comedy. But that just further points to why my favorite interpretation of Pauling and Scouts' relationship *as a potential couple* is the game and exp. date. The comics give them a fun coworker dynamic but often joke that Scout is in over his head or delusional about his feelings for Ms Pauling and they go with that sort of old' school joke route where Scout is kind of a pushy dweeb who can't take no but someday he'll win her over by breaking her down, they literally make a joke about how Scout has this mentality in the comics. And I don't mind that version of Scout's character. He has a lot of iconic moments it just doesn't always feel like the Scout that I've come to appreciate, personally. And I'm just not as big a fan of that particular romantic back and forth, I much prefer the idea of these two people who live dangerous lifestyles finding companionship and eventually pining for each other but their work constantly gets in the way of that fulfilled happiness, I like that Pauling is work-oriented and always puts the job first but I like those little moments where the mask slips and she says something that lets Scout know that she thinks of him from time to time. And Scout just being a Merc who does his job, doesn't know about the grand machinations playing around him. He just finds it to be an excuse to work with this person he idolizes and doesn't entirely understand the pressure Pauling has to deal with outside of him just killing guys and taking Intel. That's just my take on it, though. I still ship them no matter what media they're in.

Well based on confirmed reports from a month ago, the writers behind the comic series are still working on the 7th comic. Their current progress is that the script is finished, and it’s being drawn; however it was also stated that there are no promises on when it will be released. Though regardless of that, it does seem (at the moment) that the final issue of the comic is going to come out.

Valve has always been great at providing resources to the community so they can make mods and other content, they even hired some of the modders and made full games with them. Source Filmmaker is a great tool, using the game engine to create animations like this, update trailers and the Meet the team themselves but also allowing people to create a ton of them over the decades, not only dumb jokes or Skibidi Toilets.

Honestly, with the kind of life he's probably lived as a ladykiller secret agent person, I actually wouldn't be surprised if Spy's "I think it's going pretty well" comment was sincere. Like I'd believe that he's had crazier dates. (As a side note, I second the recommendation you've already been getting in other comments about checking out fandubs of the official webcomic, specifically the Mann Co. No More storyline that starts with Ring of Fired. However, I also recommend that you read or watch a fandub of the Catch-Up Comic first so you can get up to speed with the most important parts of the plot.)

@@chelzorthedestroyer Basically, when it comes to whether or not the mercs on the two different teams are separate people or not things gets a bit unclear. Canonically there's one of each merc on each team but when the lore talks about a merc's backstory it refers to them as if they were the only one. For instance Scout is a boy named Jeremy who grew up in Boston with a single mother and seven older brothers who he had to learn to outrun, and this is canon for Scout regardless of if he's the red Scout or the blu Scout. So the mercs on team red and the mercs on team blu are sort of the same people but also canonically separate people and the lore just never explains this.

If you're in ANY way interested in the gameplay side of the classes, I *strongly* recommend checking the 'How it FEELS to Play' series by LazyPurple (including 'extras' videos), his videos are interesting, honestly quite funny and tends to involve SFM segments to emphasise something, recreate part of a match at the start of his video or, most frequently, for a joke like the frequent 'screw you, I am gonna go play Minecraft' one.

13:05 and in the end, Spy realises he did indeed screw up (just as he did when he abandoned him as a father) and just tells him do what he wants, because he doesn't deserve to (and is too crazy to) dictate who Scout is now that he's grown up without Spy in his life... and he's so happy that Scout realised this. Spy really is the closest to actually nice in the group alongside Heavy.

So this was actually supposed to be the pilot episode for a TF2 TV show on Adult Swim, but the deal ended up falling through because Valve took too long and wouldn't make the pilot fit within the alloted time limit. I'll never forgive them for it. This would've been an amazing show.

I still say you should watch overwatch vs tf2 but explained with food, it does a great job of showing you how the tf2 braincell works. Also, videos by Lazypurple and Soundsmith are also good options for a bingewatch on stream, as well as Solarlight's highlight videos.
