It's definitely 2 moles. The subscript 2 after the formulae aren't the moles

I don't understand what you mean by a 'shift in equilibrium'. If the forwards/reversed reaction is now more prevalent doesn't that mean it's not longer at equilibrium? :/

It 'shifts' to restore the equilibrium. Makes more sense in Y13 when you have to look at equilibrium constants
